Alfie had an addictive personality, that was for sure. But since he’d been clean he was finally feeling like he was finding himself again. When his agent had told him about the opportunity in Tree Hill he’d jumped at the chance to escape the bright lights of the city and try discover himself somewhere new. Of course, there were conditions he had to attend meetings, and weekly check-ups with a doctor that included peeing into a cup and blood tests to make sure that he wasn’t using again. One trace of anything in his blood and he would get fired, on the spot. But Alfie knew that he had to do the time, he’d done enough bad in his life and if this was his punishment, so be it.
Leaving the hospital, he let out a long deep breath that he didn’t even know he’d been holding. Alfie hated hospitals, with a passion. His palms got sweaty just at the thought of them. It reminded him too much of his mother, and all the memories that he pushed down all these years. He hadn’t realised that he was essentially blocking the exit until he heard someone let out a long sigh behind him.
‘‘Sorry I didn’t realise someone was behind me..’‘
