ive been trying to think of a mobian/robian Cubot design that isnt just a dog like most people seem to do (and it works so well!) and now im thinking

Also, do I have an idea for Orbot? Yes but there's no reasoning behind it other than I just think he'd be cute as an otter-
If I could share my two bits (because comments are disabled) I've made my own (mobian) concept of Orbot being a ladybug and Cubot being a beetle (Asian Lady Beetle??) that looks like a ladybug because I think it fits their theme of being different shapes but geometrically themed.

#orbot#orbot and cubot#cubot#I also try to not make normal animal mobians#idk I like the idea of Eggman keeping them around for control or power trips (programed fear and obidence) so small insects just feel right#sadly ladybugs and beetles can't curl up so I just have to accept that L when drawing them#also beetles have weird misplaced or missing spots on their elytras that makes you think: somethings not right this isn't a ladybug#if the color didn't give it away already#so I just imagine that with Cubots malfunctions and shortcomings (love him with all my heart)#also ALSO I imagine Ergo/SA-55 was made into Orbot#so since he's not a robot Eggman HAD to do something to instill more obedience into Orbot (remind him of his place/lobotomize him)#my idea? screwed up one of Orbot's wings permanently (RIP)#kinda poetic considering wings are often used as imagery for freedom#(lmao Orbot and Cubot will NEVER have that)#also also ALSO Cubots wings NEVER worked quite well to begin with (Cubot is a bit more loyal/obedient to the doctor)#(aaaand Cubot's a hunchback (sorry sweetie) so back problems yippee :D)#which goes hand in hand with Orbot chronic wing pain (it EXISTS IN SONIC CANON NO WAY IT DOESN'T)#so I imagine on their worst days they cover for eachother :D#Cubot bent wings is a deformity so he doesn't feel pain from it.. he just can't USE it. too bad he can't say the same for his back >:]
