Putting yourself as priority is important, always.
I mean, why expect love from another individual when you can’t even learn to love yourself? Why depend the love from someone when you can easily, take the time to build love for yourself?
3 things important to me at this moment: Self Love, Happiness and Well Being
These past few months or days had been nothing but negative energy. I couldn’t understand what it is that was getting into me but I get overwhelmed so easily and I also suppressed my emotions into one bundle that by the end of the day, I was filled with full range of emotions, I begin to cry. My dear friends were there and are constantly questioning about my well-being but all I said was “I’m okay”, “I’m fine” because really, that was the only answer I had in me. At the same time, I knew I would be okay, just not right now, at this moment...
Until 2 days ago, I think somewhere, somehow, my inner self must have told me “enough is enough”. I ended falling asleep earlier than usual and waking up at 7am - the usual timing I am up. I also had a nap at noon, basically paying all the sleep debt that I’ve been suffering. From what, you say? I don’t even know. But I remember the dream I had during the sleep and nap time. I can’t remember who it was but I remember the message they left before I woke up and how it made me feel when I was with them. Next thing I knew, I forgive and threw the negative energy aside and focus on the positive side, whatever that keeps me alive.
Everyone do things differently but here are few things I do to take care of myself (because trust me, you will need this as you grow):
Gym & Yoga, its always been my element. It was a place of everything and with yoga, its a reminder of gratitude. I do whatever it takes to keep me going & places like these is always filled with inspiring people who have this constant drive of need and passion.
Not sure if I’m speaking from an introvert perspective but I personally think it is important to know how to be alone. How to find peace within yourself and be okay with yourself. Spending time alone is a recharge for me. Do what makes you happy, it could be anything (even shopping therapy)! I enjoy taking the train, find a bookstore and just read. I enjoy going for walks. I enjoy documenting things that deserve to be appreciated for.
Hangout with Friends (quality ones, please)
Good gawd gracious, I don’t think I would have survive without my friends. While I’m all about spending time alone, sometimes your negative thoughts/emotions can really overpower you and it’s hard to deal with especially when you got nothing else to do. I would just drive to their place, hang around and spend hours talking. I bring food with me sometimes, so yay!
Take Good Care of your Well-being
Ever heard the phrase “you are what you eat”? It goes well pretty much with everything from “you are who you surround with” or “you are the books you read” etc. You may feel weak/broken now but remind yourself: if you were born with the weakness to fail, you were born with the strength to rise (by Rupi Kaur). Instead of grieving so horribly, take a shower, get yourself ready, head to the grocery store, get what you need and make yourself some good food. Hydrate yourself, feed yourself. I mean, you have to keep that skin glowing and poppin’ right? Take the initiative to take care of yourself, you can grieve but at least, thank your body for the effort it has put in to keep you alive, to keep you going.
You don’t have to journal everyday. There are no rules, at all! Write your thoughts out, paper and pen works best for me! Writings things down helps a lot on clearing your mind. It gives you a clearer picture of what’s happening in your world. Like think about it, you have so many thoughts, all scattered in your mind. Writing it down just makes things so much easier. Try not to tear it off and throw it away either but if that’s what makes you feel better, feel free. But if not, keep it. When few days or even a month had passed, try rereading it and you’ll notice the little change/growth in you (you might even laugh how silly you are to begin with). Give yourself a pat at the back please, you’re doing amazing.
Last but not least, things may seem disappointing right now but don’t fuss it. Be patience, keep trying. If you feel the need to rant, rant it out. If you feel the need to cry, cry it out. If you feel the need to talk to someone, I hope you have someone who you feel comfortable enough to talk to. Don’t keep everything to yourself even though independency is great. We are humans after all. We need each other to keep us all going.
