some people give maddie a lot of flack for “crying too much” or being “too emotional” or whatever that means. which like i’m not gonna criticise you for your own character pet peeves. but also maddie han get behind me. because she spent most of her life not being able to let other people know how felt about her dead brother. and then she was married to a man who would prey on her weaknesses. her being emotional and vulnerable has come after years of it being used against her. and yet she is still to open and empathetic about it. i LOVE her. i hope she cries more. when she’s happy, when she’s sad, when she’s angry, during sex, whenever she can because she can.

ALSO re: what buck did in mother's day, you can tell that his choice to give himself (his self) up for eddie and chris is calculated and not a mindless self-sacrifice because buck is NOT the type to force himself to be the sacrificial lamb for eddie if he knows it would make a situation worse. we saw this in brawl in cell block 911, where buck was willing to leave eddie alone (even if he didn't like it) if he understood that THAT was the best way of maximizing their safety. buck made the decision in that basement stone cold knowing that it was the most logical thing to do. doesn't make it any less of a sacrifice, or any less revealing of how important the diaz boys are to him, but it WAS a canny decision.

also, notably, in both cases buck only lost his shit and ran out to save eddie, throwing himself into possible danger, when he hears a gunshot. once eddie's life is actively in danger, all bets are off.

wait i just realised that maddie kept all of buck’s postcards at the hospital so she could store them forever in a way that was out of reach from doug. BUT!! she took the christmas one back home with her!! and it’s a canon fact that maddie love/d christmas! now thinking about maddie all alone during the christmas season with an abusive husband and getting that postcard from her litte brother and for a second she remembered why christmas was her favourite holiday. so she snuck it in her coat pocket, took it home and added it to the decorations.
