The Fruitiverse
This comes from a book of strange little drawings by Louise Bourgeois, the French-American sculptor best known for her giant sculptures of spiders that she called "Maman".
Bourgeois studied mathematics and geometry at the Sorbonne, subjects she was drawn to for their stability. "I got peace of mind only through the study of rules nobody could change," she said.
I lost my father three weeks ago, which put me in the state she describes: the building that looks considered and high-flown and composed, but that is grounded in water.

From Greg's blog: In July of 2012 I moved to a very small apartment in Cambridge, MA. I sold or gave away most of the things I had previously acquired until this point in my life. This included most of the furniture I had made to date. Around the same time my parents had announced their separation and I was leading my first project at IDEO. I was pushing myself to the limit to ensure I didn’t fail. That project was related to sleep and I started to use a Zeo sleep sensor as part of my research.
I’ve had very vivid dreams for as long as I can remember and I’ve never bothered to write them down. For July, I thought it would be fun to keep a journal of what passed through my mind during the night. Apparently, I dream about whatever I think about during the day. In July, I was thinking about six things.

The Famous Case of Emilie Sagée and her Doppelgänger
Emilie Sagee, 32, had been fired from 18 different schools. The cause: bilocation.
As Sagée wrote on the chalkboard during her lessons, her double would appear, standing along side her and mimicking her motions.
On another occasion, all of the school’s 42 girls were in the school hall for sewing and embroidery class. As they worked, they could clearly see Sagée in the school’s garden gathering flowers. However, when the girl’s teacher left the room for a moment, Sagée’s Doppelgänger appeared, sitting motionless in the teacher’s chair. Two girls tried to touch the apparition but were met with an odd resistance and were unable to penetrate the air surrounding her. One girl passed through the apparition, which then vanished.
Sagée only realized her doubleness in her students' frightened faces—their eyes staring at something near her that she could not see.
