And again he closed his eyes, and again he saw her.
Reunitions in the automated recesses of his consciousness, visions play out with carelessness, without guide nor narration.
Somewhere between imagination and dream.
Unbreakable glass framed her smiles and laughter, a movie of her memory from the time before her grave, with a sole audience member.
It started out that way.
His earnest dishonesty gave life to a dead girls confusion. A furrowed brow, rapid blinking, eyes darting— the laughter was nervous and the smile stressed.
Confusion.
That wasn’t how any of this happened.
Conflicts overwritten by warmth forcefully installed into a flashback.
And again he closed his eyes, and again he saw her.

Be my strength, when I have none
All gone
All spent
Dragonflies kiss fragile legs to the edge of petals.
Cool dewdrops meander down the faces of
Sweet green and brimming flora.
The ice melted so long ago,
Let me take your chin on the tip of my thumb.
Look at me.
Don’t you see?
Spring will come again, love.
And then we will be in the summer sun,
Holding hands and flipping coins.
Dandelion nights
Warm summers spent hiding behind the drywall
The thinking happens louder these days
As walls around us hinder us no more
Welted walls of our own design
Become bandaged walls and love inside
And you can paint them any shade of blue or purple
Bruised walls to cover us
from a broiling summer sun
I won’t mind
If you let me grow some dandelions yellow
If you let me grow
And grow a refuge of our own.
There are worse ways to live
Worse ways to die
there is nothing for us
But who cares? You’re already everything.

[Our dogs and I]
Discard shame
It serves only as distraction
From dogs that you can name
I swear to you, for as long
Long as I might live
I refuse to draw first blood
I’ll snap my teeth but
Unlike our dogs
Really, I’m harmless
You and I
Should decide what is the real threat
And what is fear
Between our dogs and I
Cut through noise and See.
Brace through dark and Hear.
Hold my hand when we put them down
And let our dead dogs lie.
No, are you even listening?
It all stays right where you left it
There’s the ground beneath my tired feet
And a yawning vastness over my head
It’s more empty than full
With stars like beams of light
Between the threads of a taut sheet
Or its more like an empty ocean
With the occasional freight ship chartered through
That’s my metaphor for planets
Either way, nothing happens
It’s all just stuff
Everything doesn’t amount to much
Time wasters and material investments
Luxuries of a life unlived
You’ll find my things still in that room
And nothing else comes after
Self destruction can, at times, look like self preservation
Keep having dreams of that place
Of where you hide your face
Of where?
Nowhere.
Not here.
Not there.
Walls moving in the corner of your eye
Air ducts and tear ducts
Plywood and
Dust covered furniture
Whatever, whenever, wherever
It’ll be okay probably
Forever could be short lived
In the shorter lives we lead
I could never change you
To better suit to me
But there’s things this love
This
Love
This love can’t tolerate
And kissing bruises
Well, it isn’t one of them
soon to be departed
money on the books
and a one-way ticket
wind whipped smoke stacks lead the way
rush behind me like afterimages
sitting against the engine i feel it
thunder against my back
heat sears my face
hot ash, left behind in my skin
i thought the view would be better
but now i cant see
Wisteria
climbing hungrily up alien wooden monoliths-
An opportunist,
reaching twisted fingers
toward the summer sun.
The pine braces itself
against these foreign tendrils.
Choking, it blankets the sky
with green needle clouds:
thirstily drinking in all light
hoping to starve out minor annoyances.
The most beautiful things revel
in well-hidden turmoil.
No two things are without conflict.
Your name leaves my lips like a prayer
