Progress: Finishing Up!
The group met up together last night in order to lay down some audio tracks to go with the visual designs made by Sarah. Everything went smoothly and the audio seemed to come out pretty well. Still have to iron out all the kinks and polish it up, but overall, we're nearing the completion of the project.

Hate to just pitch your old tubes and tires in the trash? Here are the best options for reuse and recycling of bike tubes and tires.

More process: grid and slight tweaking for refinement.

Recycling Tires- Abstract
Proper tire disposal remains a problem to our community and local government and is a threat to the environment due to its resistant and durable composition. Considering that the population of Richmond that uses bicycles as a form of transportation and recreation of Richmond is vast, it is a great place to take the on initiative of recycling them.
Bicycle tires may not seem like a big issue, but we should take a minute to consider the amount of tires that are replaced in this cycling oriented community. Currently, local bike shops are not recycling their old tires or tubes due to the inconvenience and investment they would have to go through if they did. Therefore, all the tires from the 3-dozen local bike repair shops are being incinerated, sent to landfills, or sent to a dumping site. To dispose of tires by incinerating them generates emissions and hazardous toxins that pollute the air, and trying to get rid of tires by disposing of them in landfills consumers, takes about two thousands of years to biodegrade, and contaminates Earth’s fresh groundwater that lies beneath the surface through seepage.
By providing a tire collection services to these local bicycle shops in Richmond, in which we can pick the tires up and take them to a recycling facility, we promote the safe disposal of this material and it can be created in to a new innovative, eco-friendly material that our local governments and citizens can use. After dropping the tires off, the recycling facilities associated with the Virginia DEQ will receive the tires, process them at their facility, and re-use the material they get.
It is with this effort that we hope to make a difference in the community. Not only are we providing a much needed service to the bicycle shops/bicyclists in the area, but we’re hoping that this idea will catch on. By starting and providing this service, we hope that the community (and shops) will feel a greater sense of pride as they’re choosing to properly dispose of their bicycle tires, and the new trend will catch on across the city.
How to Dispose of Bike Tires. Recycling or reusing old items is a kind thing to do for our environment; this includes recycling bicycle tires. The problem of bike tires piling up in landfills is no small problem. According to ...
Found a pretty cool site that has an action plan fairly similar to our own. It brings validation to what we're trying to accomplish.

New objective: To solve the same issue that arises from improper disposal of rubber products, we are steering our focus towards partnering up with local bike shops in the Richmond area. Our goal is to incentivize the shops to collect the old tires so that we can pick them up (for free, essentially) and take them to a facility where they can be recycled.
Partnership!
Decided to go check out some bike shops in the area and get the rundown on what they do with their tires/tubes. Unfortunately all of the shops were closed at the time, except for Ram Bikes. After explaining to them the project in mind, they found the partnership and service had potential. Their only concern was that if there was any sort of funding needed for the project, they wouldn't be able to provide it, and if that were the case to try to also partner up with VCU Goes Green. I still plan on visiting those other shops that were closed earlier and connecting with them about the project/serv
