Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette Review

I recently purchased the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, again online from Mecca Cosmetics and it cost me $78. 

Just like Naked 2, Naked 3 comes with a built-in mirror and synthetic dual-ended eyeshadow brush (blending and flat) which is high quality and very much usable. It also comes with a sample of 4 Primer Potions: Original, Eden (nude matte), Sin (shimmer), and Anti-Aging. 

With one look you can see that the Naked 3 has an overall rose gold theme with 12 eyeshadows in a gorgeous, wave-textured tin case that is very sturdy and snaps shut. Naked 3, is a beautiful rosy pink based palette. I love the metallic glitter shades, in particular Dust, Burnout, Buzz and Trick. I am yet to try the matte shades (Strange, Limit and Nooner). I do wish that the palette had a repeat of Half-Baked (Naked 2) and also more light base tones, like Bootycall (Naked 2) as that is personally one of my favourites. The shades in Naked 3 are mostly medium shades meaning this could be a little disappointing for someone with medium skintone where they may blend in too much.

Here is an overview of the shades:

Strange: Matte beige with slight pink undertone

Dust: Very shimmery, pale peachy-pink with glitters

Burnout: Satin pinky-peach

Limit: Pink-tan matte

Buzz: Satin rose with tiny microglitters

Trick: Pinky-copper shimmer with microglitters

Nooner: Cool matte taupe

Liar: Satin pinky-mauve

Factory: Satin warm brown

Mugshot: Satin taupe

Darkside: Satin plum-taupe with a lot of depth

Blackheart: Sooty, matte dark chocolate with copper glitters

As for me, I own and use both Naked 2 and Naked 3.  Here is a tip: Try experimenting by mixing different colours with different palettes, as some colours in Naked 3 would compliment the colours in 2 nicely. If you are new the Naked line, then I would suggest to start off with Naked or Naked 2 (I started with Naked 2) before you buy 3, unless you know for sure you love to wear pinks more than neutrals.

Nars Sheer Glow vs. Sheer Matte Foundation Review

Around 6 months ago, I came across the NARS Sheer Glow foundation. I was very tempted to buy it from Sephora whilst in Honolulu, Hawaii, but I didn’t and oh regrets...  However I did end up buying it soon after that so all good! I have previously used Maybelline Fit, MAC Studio Fix and Pro Longwear foundation. I went through a point where I only wore MAC for a very long time. I have gone through over 10 bottles. Now MACs Studio Fix foundation retails at $49 AUS, and the Pro Longwear retails at $54 AUS. For the US, the Studio Fix retails at $27 and the Pro Longwear retails at $32 US. So, in other words pretty expensive, but I mean c’mon its MAC? And who doesn’t LOVE MAC!  Anyway after I started wearing NARS for a couple of days, I started to realise I like this foundation more than MACs.  Now I use the colour Santa Fe - this is a  medium colour with a peachy undertone.  I purchase it from Mecca Cosmetics online at the price of $59 and it is usually delivered to me the next day!  The Sheer Glow foundation has a silky liquid that delivers immediate hydration, evens skin tone and leaves the skin brighter and more radiant. Used daily, your skin's texture and tone improves becoming softer, smoother and more luminous. Sheer Glow foundation provides all-day weightless and buildable coverage, with a natural radiant finish. It is also suitable for normal to dry skin.

The Sheer Glow foundation has a very liquid feel, to give it that “glow”. It spreads on the face very easily and can be applied with a sponge, brush or hands. It is wonderful to use with your hands because of its liquid texture, I personally use my hands as this ensures that the foundation is going straight from my hands to my face and it also it is easier to blend in.

The Matte has a slightly thicker, creamier feel. At first I thought it was alright, but then I started comparing it to the Glow and realised how much I like that one better. It is a lot harder to blend because of the matte formula. It also took me twice the time to apply my foundation due to its thickness making it harder to blend. 

As for coverage, I feel like the Glow easily beats the Matte. I can use one layer and have my face "glowing” and after applying a bit more to certain areas it gives me that full coverage look that I am always aiming to get. It lasts all day! The Matte covers a good amount, but it doesn’t compare to the Glow. When using the Matte I had to go over spots especially my nose, several times to try and improve my coverage and it also wears off sooner than the glow.

Look and Feel: The glow feels amazing on and it makes my face feel so smooth. It also gives an airbrush look. When I go out I usually wear it over the top of a little fake tan. As for the Matte, it did not look as appealing and left my face feeling very dry. But, I mean it is a matte foundation and it is going to provide a “cakey” look, so a warning for the girls out there who don’t like cakey foundation (me) - this foundation IS NOT for you.    Colour: As for the colour of the two foundations, the matte is a little lighter but contains a little more yellow than the glow. 

Overall, I LOVE the Sheer Glow Foundation it is like the mother of all foundations. It provides perfect, long lasting (all day) coverage and blends in well. So easy and smooth to apply. I definitely would recommend (and already have to friends) I rate it a 10/10! As for the Matte I would give it a solid 4/10.  I would say that the glow is the winner, but everyone is different it all comes down to what brand, look, colour and feel you prefer or like best. xx

MAC Lipstick Cremesheen Creme Cup

This MAC lipstick is one of my favourites. It is the perfect lip colour to wear during the day. It is a nice shade of pink, not to light but not to dark.  It is subtle and I think it is an essential lip colour. I personally used to wear this lipstick as my everyday lipstick, however after I while a took to Peach Blossom which is also another colour I highly recommend. For me as a girl with olive skin I can’t particularly wear “Hot Pink” lip colours like Show Orchid, so light pinks I LOVE! Both the Cremesheen Creme Cup and Cremesheen Peach Blossom are both great, I also wore them both to two formals or proms I attended to.

If you’re looking for a nice lipstick colour to wear out, I would recommend Show Orchid  if you like hot pink shades, and also the Relentlessly Red. :)

There are a variety of finishes when it comes to MAC lipsticks, and it can be a little overwhelming when it comes to choosing the right one. There are 9 standard difference finishes and I’ve listed them below with a brief overview of each finish:

Amplified - Opaque coverage like the Matte finish, but less drying.

Amplified Creme - Great pigment. Has more of a glossy finish than Amplified.

Cremesheen - Good coverage. Very creamy at first, but can be a little drying.

Frost - Shimmery finish with good coverage. Not too drying either.  

Glaze - Gives a moisturised appearance with a subtle wash of glossy colour.

Lustre - Less sheer than a Glaze finish. Glossy & moisturising, but subtle still.

Matte - Long wearing, with high opacity but very drying. 

Retro Matte - Very similar to Matte, but even more drying on the lips.

Satin - Very good opacity like the Matte finish, but with a nice sheen.

MAC lipstick is valued at $16 US plus tax and $36 AUS. However MAC have this awesome program called the Back to MAC Program.

The mascara that is simply “better than sex”!  Review on Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara

I first found out about this mascara when I visited the US last year. A family friend who is a manager at one of the Ulta stores in New York gave me some free samples she had and one so happened to be a 4.8g better than sex mascara!

I have used a lot of mascaras over the years, from Maybelline’s Falsies, Colossal, Cat Eyes and One by One to MAC.   Ranging from Zoom lash to Haute and Naughty to Haute and Naughty Too Black. I also own over 20 mascaras with majority of them being MAC. I love really black mascara that adds volume and length. Although my lashes are already long Better than Sex adds both! After just one coat you have thick, long, black lashes, but I always go the extra mile and add a little more coats until I’m satisfied. However do be careful, there is one downside to this mascara. It can start to flake throughout the day so be careful how much you put on or you may want to carry some tissues with you.

It was from the first moment I tried it, I LOVED it! It is the most amazing mascara I have ever used. Since that first sample I have gone through multiple tubes and continue to buy more! It can be purchased from Sephora, Ulta, and for the Aussies Kit Cosmetics in Myer and online at Mecca Cosmetics! It values for around $23 US plus tax and $29 AUS. Although it is somewhat expensive it is also worth the money!  “Better than Sex.” “The most amazing mascara I’ve ever used.” “The Holy Grail of Mascara.”

Vegan Friendly

If I had to pick a mascara to use for the rest of my life, it would be Too faced Better than Sex mascara. I rate it 10/10!  The hourglass-shaped brush helps separate my lashes, it coats and curls each lash to voluptuous perfection. 

One coat of the carbon black, collagen-fuelled mascara formula and lashes are full, defined and stretched to unbelievable lengths. Two coats and lashes are even more luscious, curled and dramatic. Three coats and achieve the most intense black, oversized, multidimensional lashes possible! A mascara so amazing it's Better Than Sex!

“I’ve never had so many compliments on my eyelashes.” I have passed on the word to friends and family about how good it is and now there using it too! Definitely worth a try, try not to get addicted.. I know you will, because once you start you most likely won’t be able to stop. I know this from experience I can openly say my name is Casey and I am addicted to mascara. (*Hi Casey*)  As I said I own over 20 but nothing compares to Better than Sex.

I have been a MAC lover for years and I always will. I’ve gone through multiple bottles of MAC’s  Pro Longwear and Studio Fix foundations. It was all I wore for a long time and it values at around $49 AUS. There foundations are very yellow based however, and it was only until around 6 months ago I came across NARS Sheer Glow Foundation. I have to say I think I like it better than MAC! The colour I used is Santa Fe. It goes on the face very well and matches the colour of my skin tone a lot better then MAC.
