Devil digs holes by your feet right when youβre about to take a step, but God puts a plank over them, so you have the chance to avoid falling. All you have to do is focus on keeping your balance and look forward, but once you avert your gaze, you lose your balance and when you lose your balance - you fall.
When you fall, you don't try getting out immediately. You need some time to adjust your eyes to the darkness, to think and realize where you are.
Once you do, you start trying to get out on your own, you start crawling and clawng, but to no avail. It is just impossible for you to get out of that hole without any help. Though, you should not give up, you just need to ask God for help, to give you stairs and he will do exactly that.
Now that you have stairs, you will start climbing up. Devil won't like it and he will do everything in his power to bring you back down to him. He will not climb after you. Why? Because the way you're going only leads to God. He doesnβt want that. Instead, he will start calling you from bellow, trying once again to make you distracted. Thatβs when you have to stand strong; God has already given you two chances, if you keep falling every time He helps you, you wonβt get anywhere except back down the hole β AKA Hell.
Unfortunately, some people fall for Devil over and over again, but it's on people - never God, for He gives you countless chances, but you still keep averting your focus. After that, how can you say God has never helped you? Has he not helped you, you wouldn't have any other choice but to fall in that hole and never get out of it ever again.
Keep walking upwards and never let yourself to look down, for when you look down from great heights, fear creeps in, and you risk falling by your own misstep.
Say youβre moving to a new school. The principal is a very kind guy, and he says to his students βWe shouldnβt bully, we shouldnβt judge, we shouldnβt get revenge because I donβt do that, and if I can hold it back, you can too.β He preaches about kindness and respect.
But then there comes a teacher and she bullies a student. Then comes another teacher and he judges everyone and throws insults their way. And there comes third teacher and he holds grudges and always gets his revenge. At this point, once you annoy him, he will hate you forever. None of them forgive.
Now you donβt want to move in that school anymore, do you? And you start doubting the principal because what if he is lying just for his image? What if heβs lying just to uplift his reputation? Even if heβs being truthful and actually is that kind, why does it matter? I mean, you donβt encounter him unless youβre brought to him, and these teachers donβt bring you to him, they judge and punish you on their own instead, they go against the principalβs wishes.
And the principal knows this, but he is so kind that he cannot fire any of the teachers, he constantly gives them second, third, seventy-third chances so they can change, yet they donβt change. But eventually, time will come and they will depart from him, since thereβs only so much time the teachers can spend in that school.
Now picture it this way: teachers are us - Christians, students are every other people and the principal is Jesus. When we insult nonbelievers, when we judge nonbelievers, when we threaten and bully them, the only thought entering their heads are: βso Jesus is this evil huh, then I donβt want to follow him.β
So, the moral of the story is that nonbelievers look at us - Christians, the way we act, the way we think because we resemble Jesus Christ, the same way teachers resemble the principal.
