okay many of you asked more thoughts on the insane july pile, i already did a recap on ig (shameless plug) but here you go. these are going under the cut because dear god

i've been resisting reading yarros for what feels like years now and i hate that i finally caved and actually really enjoyed both fouth wing and iron flame. i mean they are ridiculous and predictable but the romance follows exactly the kind of pattern that, to me, is fun to read and the exaggerated badass main girl does get me every time. but i am in no way happy about this opinion

a series that came completely out of the bushes and that i absolutely adored and need every single one of you to read is caggiano's villains and virtues. this was so? fun? it's like.... extremely self-aware in it's ridiculousness and unseriousness. it's a sunshine x grumpy fantasy romance that's just all dump and stereotypical side quests and pining. it reminded me a lot of both the book version of howl's moving castle and terry pratchett's books. please read this whole series and come talk to me about it

i read a lot of contemporary romance and it was all really good! the two hazellwoods were excellent, they both have a male lead that is absolutely and openly obsessed with the girl (in a not creepy way) and that's my favourite type of romance book, please send recs of these. julie soto was a completely new author for me but both of her books were really good and didn't focus solely on the romance aspect but gave the characters really well-rounded personalities and interests, which i enjoyed.

twisted love was awful i don't understand how so many people like it. it was both badly written and had the worst romantic lead ever as well as being just.... too? unrealistic? despite me usually absolutely eating up unrealistic romance. i also had kinda similar issues with st. claires books, i absolutely despised the main character she was just constantly having a tantrum, not even trying to understand the people around me and though i like romance books with sex scenes especially the second book was just too much, will not be reading the third

what monstrous gods and both of armentrouts books were like, okay? they kept me busy while knitting but didn't really arouse any strong feelings on emotions out of me.

yellowjackets seasons 1 & 2

i've been meaning to watch this forever and it was worth the wait/watch. top tier unhinged sapphic girl content, even though it was very gruesome at times.

maxton hall season 1

i started watching this as a joke and i absolutely hate how much i ended up loving it. i thought i'd "grown out" of high school romances but my god this had me kicking my feet

mary and george season 1

not in love with this but it was a fun gay watch and i am obsessed with george's single slutty pearl earring

chambers season 1

i 100% just started this because nicholas galitzine is in this, but it turned out to be really good! i think there are too few shows with native leads, and this kept me guessing through the whole thing

the summer i turned pretty seasons 1 & 2

y'all know how i felt. even tho i know how it ends i refuse to forgive this show for what it put/wants to put me through

heartstopper season 2

absolute gold, i love seeing queer tenagers getting to have fun and be (mostly) happy on screen

my lady jane season 1

okay this was super fun and i wasn't expecting to like it as much? someone said it was like an R rated ella enchanted and i have to agree. my love for ridiculous stuff like pushing daisies and the princess diaries definitely showed its head during this
