I just want to let you guys know Cornell's entire library is open access (no permissions required) and there are (shocker) many books...
“The dakinis transmit directly through life experiences, rather than through complex philosophical arguments. It is for this reason that the dakini is associated with the Tantric teachings which work directly with the energy of the body, speech, and mind, rather than the more intellectual Sutric teachings … The dakini often makes her first appearance when a practitioner is making the transition from an intellectual approach to an experiential approach.” Lama Tsultrim Allione, from her book Women Of Wisdom.
something fascinating in humans and overconsumption is that we fondamentally want what other wants. I’m absolutely prone to this as well. If something in not interesting to us at first but suddenly is wanted by a large number of people, it makes the item a lot more attractive. We might want something because other people wants it, not because we would want it on it’s own. It’s like kids that want specifically the toy another kid is playing with even if they are surrounded by other toys. And sometimes it becomes a problem.
“I do not know why there is this difference, but I am sure that God keeps no one waiting unless He sees that it is good for him to wait. When you do enter your room, you will find that the long wait has done you some kind of good which you would not have had otherwise. But you must regard it as waiting, not as camping. You must keep on praying for light: and of course, even in the hall, you must begin trying to obey the rules which are common to the whole house. And above all you must be asking which door is the true one; not which pleases you best by its paint and paneling.”
— C. S. Lewis, Mere Christianity (via calm-mysoul)
“Remember, we are all affecting the world every moment, whether we mean to or not. Our actions and states of mind matter, because we’re so deeply interconnected with one another. Working on our own consciousness is the most important thing that we are doing at any moment, and being love is the supreme creative act.”
— Ram Dass (via aspiritualwarrior)
starburst 🌟

“I try to teach clients that suppressing what you want is not the way to go. You have to radically accept that you want something, you don’t have it, and it’s not a catastrophe.”
— Marsha Linehan on Radical Acceptance
