Raider Guava, The Black Ship!
American born and raised, following a racing accident which led to the loss of her left eye, the daughter to American Double Crown winner Florin Raider was offered a place at Tracen Academy as a sort of rehabilitation programme.
Originally a pace chaser trained on the much more popular western dirt tracks, rigorous retraining efforts by her unassuming grey salaryman trainer has bloomed into a new proficiency for late surging on Japanese turf.
Her one dream? Six crown jewels: The Triple Dirt Crown, and the Classic Triple Crown. Her mother, Florin, was denied the American Triple crown her entire career - coming up short twice at the Belmont Stakes and once at the Kentucky Derby. Raider Guava desires these two crowns, a dirt for her Mother, and a turf for her own head.
Public opinion is mixed. Her eccentric personality has charmed many and given her a dedicated fanbase in her first years at Tracen, but her ambition has garnered possibly more haters than fans. A foreign uma participating in Japanese racing has become a major public scandal for the JRA and the Academy. Her foreigner status has earned Raider Guava the nickname "The Black Ship", in reference to the Portuguese caravels which first made contact with Japan. Both her fans and detractors have adopted the nickname, either in support or derision.
Wow. Sorry, so much yap. If there's anything else you'd like to know about her, please reply or reblog to ask! Finally, art creds to @dotgokulism on Twitter, thanks for a beautiful comm!
Now for something entirely different:
I've been playing warhammer 40k darktide a lot recently and the characters I've played have grown on me too much not to write about them. I'm also including screenshots of my PDF version (cant share PDFs on here, sigh) which has more visual flare than the AO3 version, should you so please!

Headcanon of the day: The Blades made such excellent spies because not only did they adopt the weapons and armor of the Akaviri, but the language as well. Letters written in a language that had been more or less dead for centuries from a culture which had long since been blended into the Nibenese. Like the Navajo code talkers but they speak fantasy Japanese

Hello, I'm returning to my bullshit - something is on my mind: why are enchanted items one of the few things that are actually cheaper in the 4th Era than in the 3rd Era?
I switch between playing Skyrim and Oblivion a lot, and while I'm sure this wasn't actually something Bethesda considered, it seems like economic inflation and possibly debasement of the Septim has started to set in by 4E 201, with most things being regularly more expensive than their counterparts in Oblivion. Obviously the losses of six of the Empire's provinces would severely damage the economy - but one thing actually stands out to regularly be cheaper in 4th Era Skryim than in 3rd Era Cyrodiil.
Enchanted items were stupidly expensive during the Oblivion Crisis!
Enchanted shirts being upwards of 6000 septims, when almost everything else is rarely more expensive than 600 really shows some scarcity in the market for Enchanted items. Meanwhile in the 4th Era, while still expensive, many Enchanted armor pieces and even weapons are only around 3000 septims at most until you start to see more rare gear like ebony and Dwemer relic armor.
The theory I have in my head is mostly that the 3rd Era Imperial economy was incredibly refined - despite political instability during the reign of the last Septim Emperor, in general the empire was a cohesive entity without major conflict. The average citizen's life allowed him to make a living and put away enough gold to spoil himself sometimes. It seems to me that Enchanted items, especially usefully Enchanted items, were a luxury good on the market.
In comparison, the Imperial economy in 4E 201 is struggling to cope with the losses, and what's crucial here, are that a lot of mages which participated in the Great War now need to find a way to make a living. Many of them may have Enchanted armor for the Legions either by private commission or large scale production. They may not be able to return home, particularly elven mages who remain loyal to the Empire. So they take what they know and sell it - I can imagine a sudden influx of Enchanted goods into the market that severely reduces the accepted price value of said items. Armor and weapons in particular would become extremely common as instability leads to banditry and monster attacks that adventurers now need to deal with while the soldiery is away.
Am I making sense? Am I insane? I would enjoy your input or additions if you see this. I'm sitting at my job waiting to clock in and wouldn't stop thinking about this until I put it down to text.

Game Clear day got me thinking :
Maybe the act of surviving and thriving in one form of hell just to be thrust immediately into another is a feeling I can lean on and learn from right now.
Even after being trapped in ALO, my world didn't end. There's a lot I can come back from mentally.
Even if I feel completely stuck right now in this world too, there's no reason to ever give up.
