“ Well, I do not usually get free days. So…yeah, I do not have many.”
“What do you do for work?”
“Hey, shit places usually have the cheapest booze,” Zara smiled, starting to walk. “I won’t say no to that, that seems fair.”
“Yeah and shit booze. Who likes their vodka watered down?” Antonin replied, “It’s a deal then. Lead the way,” He added as they started walking.
“Oh, tough guy are we?”
“You could say that.”
Gideon chuckled, shaking his head. “One of these days I’m going to show you how to get loose.”
“I’m perfectly happy the way I am, Gid,” Antonin replied, “Let’s just get those drinks.”
“ I have a free day from the Ministry? That’s why. It’s amazing how many things I do in my free time.”
“I presume by that you mean that you have very few things to do,” Antonin teased.
“That’s a relief,” she chuckled softly. “Thanks. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but it’s sort of growing on me.”
“Did you doubt me there for a second?” Antonin asked, raising an eyebrow, “You look great. How’ve you been?”
“Oh, my bad,” she said, feeling bad for snapping as she watched him pull out his own cigs. “Sure thing,” Eva added, pulling out her lighter and tossing it to him.
“Don’t worry about it,” Antonin said, leaning against the wall next to her, “Thanks,” He caught the lighter and lit a cigarette after taking it in his mouth. He then tossed the lighter back to her and took a long drag of the cigarette, sighing as he blew it out.
“Brilliant, I know the perfect place,” Zara nodded. “And what if I want to?”
“Good because I only know shit places apparently,” Antonin said with a small chuckle, “Then you have to let me pay for the second round.”
“Or I’ll torture you into screaming it for me.”
“I think you underestimate how much I can handle.”
“It was a mere statement, not a question.” Gideon nodded, satisfied with the answer. “Let’s go, Mister grumpy pants.”
“And I was merely replying to said statement,” Antonin replied, “Please don’t call me that,” He added with a chuckle.
“ well, Anthony - people usually stare at other people when they do not have anything else better to do. so, that’s pretty much what I am doing.”
“And how is it that you have nothing better to do today?”
“Do you have a preference of where? My treat.”
“Anywhere is good for me to be honest,” Antonin replied, “And you don’t have to do that, I can pay for myself.”
“Always so talkative. Do you want to go grab a beer or…?”
“I thought you would have known by now that I’m not all that talkative,” Antonin replied with a smirk, “Yes, I could use a beer.”
“I’m Florence O’Connor, it is very nice to meet you.”
“I suppose it’s nice to meet you too. I’m Anthony.”
“I worry about your sanity.”
“As you should.”
“ Amelia and you are?”
“Anthony,” Antonin lied with ease. He wasn’t supposed to be telling people his birth name. Although he’d let it slip once or twice, “Is there something I can help you with or are you just gonna stare?”
“Oh, and what is interesting?”
“It’s a long list. Would you like me to write it down for you?” Antonin replied, his voice slightly sarcastic.
