Romance 1.1
Concept:
A soulmate concept where reincarnated soulmates use their memories of past lives via dreams to try and re-find their soulmate. The reincarnation of a murdered martyr recalls using their old life to seek vengeance against a tyrannical ice king/queen, who had killed them multiple times before. Their best friend, a self-proclaimed reincarnation expert and fake mystic sets out to find this tyrant only to realize the two are soulmates. The reason the tyrant has been killing their soulmate over and over again is to avoid that soulmate breaking their curse, which is giving them the ice powers at all. But, maybe this time, things will be different.
Character Ideas:
The protagonist. When did they start recalling the memories that led them to this discovery? Are they reluctant to go and being dragged along? Or are they the one leading this charge? Are they bitter about their past with their soulmate and still seeking revenge? Or are they forgiveness oriented? Is breaking the curse a mission carried out of forgiveness and love or one carried out in order to weaken someone who has hurt them? How much do their past lives bleed into their personality/change it as they recall new things?
The tyrant. Someone who is now wielding a curse as power. Why and how were they cursed in the first place? How did they come into the power they have now, and how to they make sure they won't lose it? How much does this curse change their personality? How much will it being broken really change them? How do they justify themself?
The best friend (self-proclaimed reincarnation expert and fake mystic). Most important question is obviously: how good are they at pretending to be these things? How much to they believe their own hype? (They're a fake mystic either way, but how much they're actually a reincarnation expert is up to you.) Either way, whatever they're doing works--is this coincidence, accident, or pure skill? How's their relationship with the protagonist? And what do they think should be done about the relationship with the tyrant? Are they reckless or protective?
Things to Think About:
How does characters being aware of reincarnation change the way they interact with others? How does this impact the society the characters live in?
Clearly I've added magic to this world. How common are curses? How common is magic? In a world where magic exists, how is the friend character faking it?
How does killing a soulmate impact the other soulmate, if at all? What impact do these past murders have on their relationship? How different is the tyrant post-curse?
Those who have died only a few times and been reborn or did not previously exist are new souls. Those who have been reborn many times (human or not) are old souls. How does this dynamic impact personalities?
