I’ve never resented a patient before but when she rang my first instinct was to ignore my responsibilities and go to her.  While she has been away I have realised the strength of my feelings for her.  I love her.  For so long I have kept it inside but after her phone call I have hope. Dare I hope that she has forsaken her vows for someone as unworthy as me?  What could I possibly offer her in comparison to what she has in the convent? Unworthy or not, I love her and can only hope she feels the same.

Dad jumped out of the car as soon as we spotted Sister Bernadette, although I’m not supposed to call her that anymore, I’m supposed to call her Miss Mannion.  Dad wrapped her in his coat and they stood on the road looking all mushy at each other until I honked the horn to remind them I was in the car.  Miss Mannion was very smiley as we drove to London and when I looked at dad he was smiling too. I noticed he wasn’t wearing his wedding ring anymore I hope all this means I call Miss Mannion mum soon.

Anger, confusion and loss, but mostly anger consumed her.  Anger towards her sister for not being stronger and resisting Dr Turner’s advances and anger at Dr Turner for placing temptation in her sister’s path.  Sister Bernadette had been young and probably devoted herself to the Lord at far too young an age but she should have been stronger. She had been a nun for over a decade and fully understood the sacrifices expected of her, never would she have expected such weakness from her sister.  To forsake her promises to God for a physical relationship with a man was unthinkable.

Reaction 2

The indecision and confusion she witnessed over the last months finally came to a head and she questioned how she had not seen the developing relationship before today. The grief of losing her sister was all consuming.  Sister Bernadette had always held a special place in her heart but until faced with her loss she hadn’t realised exactly how special it was.  It was hard enough facing her possible loss to tuberculosis but now to have lost her to a man, even one as good and kind as Dr Turner caused a hole in her heart she had not expected.

So I have a Reaction theme happening for my 100 words.  Hopefully they are all written in such a way that I don’t need to tell you who it is.

Tears slipped from her eyes as she lay in bed trying to understand how her sister could forsake her sisters and her Lord.  How would their voices worship the Lord without her joyous soprano leading them? Surely the spiritual love she felt for God should have been stronger than the physical love for a man.  What if the decision she made was a mistake? What would happen to her beloved sister? How would she cope in the secular life? Life was full of disappointment but the disappointment she felt in her former sister was one she would unlikely recover from.

So flipping through the channels in Australia and came across Call the Midwife and it was the Christmas special.....OMG so many cut scenes they had to break it into Parts 1&2....got the Dutch Netflix kiss and everything!

Profession/What you do with your time:I work for a company that tracks the box office figures for movies (Five nights a fortnight) the rest of my time is spent driving my four kids to all their various activities.

Biggest wish for series 7: Lot’s of lovely Turner family moments, Shelagh juggling work and motherhood. Shelagh interacting with the nuns and nurses outside a work situation.  Trixie finding happiness.
