[TUTORIAL] How to create a Fancafe account and join MONSTA X’s Fancafe

The Fancafe is a platform where fans can interact with their idols and vice-versa. MONSTA X are very active on their Fancafe page, where they post a lot of pictures, tell fans about their day and frequently comment on fans’ posts. Official notices and data as well as all sorts of important information for Monbebes are also posted on there. Some boards have restrictive rules: for example, the MX Talk Tok board is not available to every member of the Fancafe. However, once you purchase your official membership, you’ll have access to everything on the Fancafe. For that, you’ll need to create an account. Here’s how you can do so and join MONSTA X’s Fancafe.

1. DOWNLOAD THE APP Firstly, you’ll need to download the Daum Cafe app (iOS & Android). The app is in English for easy understanding of the features.

2. LOGIN Click the Settings option on the bottom right corner of the screen to move on to the Login section. Then, click “Create an account”. There are two options to create a new account. You can use your mobile phone number or your KakaoTalk ID.

Mobile Phone Number

In this section, we’ll go over the steps to create an account using your phone number.

Click “Sign up with mobile number”. You’ll be shown another window. Check the two boxes (1. and 2.) before proceeding.

Click “동의하기” (3.) to proceed. Afterwards, you’ll need to decide what you want your Daum ID to be (the first box, 1.) and your password (the second box, 2. Then confirm your password on the third box). Remember that your password should have more than 8 characters and it must include numbers.

Once again, click the blue banner that says “다음 단계” (3.). You’ll then need to fill in the boxes with your information. In “이름”, add your name (1.). In “휴대폰 번호” add your phone number (2.), and then click “인증” to receive a code via text message. You’ll then need to put that code in the third box (3.) and then click “확인”. In the last box, “본인 획인용 이메일(선택)”, write your e-mail (4.).

Again, click the blue banner that says “다음 단계” (5.) to move forward. You will then see a window with all your Daum information. Simply click the blue banner again (”서비스로 돌아가기”) to be redirected to the main page. After this you can connect your KakaoTalk account to your Daum ID. Simply go to settings again, click where it says “Kakao Account - Not Connected” and agree with all the steps, clicking the yellow and blue banners to move forward. You’ll then be redirected to the settings page where you can now change your information by clicking “Kakao Account - Connected”.

Now we’ll go over the instructions to create an account using your Kakao Talk Account.

Click “Easy Sign up with Kakao Account” to be redirected to a KakaoTalk page where you will have to check the boxes and click “Agree” to move on. Then you’ll be shown a page where you need to choose between two options. Click the one on the left if you own a Daum ID, and click the one on the right if you don’t.

If you clicked the one on the right, you’ll be redirected to a page where you need to choose an ID. Fill the box with whatever you decide. Afterwards, you’ll move on to a page with all your information. You just need to click the blue banner that says ”서비스로 돌아가기”. You can then access the settings page where you can change your information by clicking “Kakao Account - Connected”.

3. CHANGING YOUR INFORMATION Like mentioned above, you can alter your information by clicking the “Kakao Account - Connected” section in your settings. There you’ll be able to change your nickname (”닉네임”, 1.), phone number (”연락처”, 2.) and e-mail account (3.) by clicking “변경” next to the information.

You can also add more information such as your birthdate and your gender, on the “이름/연령확인” section, by clicking “변경” next to “생년월일/성별” (1.).

You’ll then be redirected to a page where you can put in the information mentioned above.

Check the box (1.) and click the blue banner (2.) to confirm the alterations. Remember that you won’t be able to change your name (”이름”) if you’re not a resident in South Korea because you need a Korean phone number to verify this alteration. Keep this in mind when putting in your information when creating a Daum ID.

4. JOINING MONSTA X’S FANCAFE To join MONSTA X’s Fancafe, you’ll need to go back to the main page of the app. Click “Find Cafe”. You can then find MONSTA X’s Fancafe on the “Meet Hot Stars!” list, or you can simply make a quick search.

After opening their Fancafe page, just click “Join” on the bottom bar. You’ll then need to choose a nickname and check both boxes before clicking the red banner that says “Join”. After that, just go to your settings (click the ≡ symbol, and then the gear on the bottom right corner) to edit your profile if needed and check every Fancafe board to make sure you’re receiving notifications (the yellow stars).

At this point, you can purchase the membership, using the same information you’ve added to create your Fancafe account.

Recently, the Fancafe Staff have shared a noticed warning Monbebes they must change their settings after purchasing the membership for the level up to be successful.

For this reason, make sure to go back to your Fancafe Settings (click the ≡ symbol, and then the gear on the bottom right corner) and change your ID (under Privacy) from ‘Managers’ to ‘Members’ on the Fancafe settings.
