As some of you may know I spent my weekend in the hospital. I fought my very hardest to not go in but eventually had to. To be honest, I hate going to the hospital during Covid times more than anything #ptsd. I’m literally terrified of being in there alone being sick because I’m such a specialty case no one has any idea what they are doing. Plus, I’m just tired of the fear in people’s eyes when they hear I have a fever. PSA: If you have a fever it could be a MILLION different things. It doesn’t mean a person has Covid so please stop casting this judgement - we don’t want to be there either. We feel BEYOND outcasted by your disgust & looks. ⬖ I went in on Friday because I had a fever, severe nausea, and bad headaches since April 19th. I actually went into urgent care on the 24th and after doing labs & giving fluids they sent me home with a flu diagnosis. Fever persisted & my nephrologist insisted I go back in & be seen at Woodland Hills Kaiser instead of Lancaster. Fighting the whole way - I did. ⬖ Creatinine was slowly going up & urine output was decreasing and I was continuing to swell. They admitted me. My labs didn’t indicate infection (WBC’s, viral loads, & blood culture’s.) We did chest x-rays, abdominal x-rays, urinalysis, stool samples, covid test. Everything came back within range but the creatinine continued to slowly go up. We started fluids, and pre-cautionary anti-biotics. *Side note: I take a daily anti-biotic at home too* The only change I could think of recently is an IUD that was placed on April 5th. Obviously, I wanted the IUD but not if it puts the health of my kidney in jeopardy. I told the doctors that I wanted it removed & they said they don’t really do that in a hospital setting because they don’t have the correct table & equipment for it. Doctors thought maybe meningitis was the issue and the symptoms just showed up different because I’m immunosuppressed but I highly doubted it & why do a spinal tap if it is not necessary?
