smart lady.
She was in the middle of packing up her belongings when a voice caught her attention, and she turned to look at the young man with raised eyebrows. Part of her wanted to make some snide comment, about listening closer the first time—but he wasn’t Gideon or Joker, likely wouldn’t appreciate her attempt at humor, and she was meant to be a professional. So she just smiled and leaned back against the edge of the stage.
"I’m an engineer," she said, which was still a pretty broad description, so she didn’t hesitate to add more. "I work for an international military coalition. I develop all kinds of things for them—weapons, technology, software… whatever they need from me."
She seemed nice enough, or at least willing to work with him, which helped ease the amount of bodily tension, although his interest in her didn't stem from how nice she may or not be. Now normally he'd just try to scurry out the school into his car, but Elijah had decided that this was a worthy enough pursuit to actually try two things that no teen wanted to do: staying after school by choice and communicating. His choice left him feeling somewhat intimidated by someone smaller than him but hey, smart people were hella intimidating. “A coalition? Is that like a conglomerate?” Though voices in the back of his head hope that wasn't a stupid question, his head tilted in curiosity. “That's a broad area of expertise. I... How long did it take you to get there?”
