ⓜⓘⓝⓣRADIO is the one-off Jazz/Electronic show hosted by Demir Candas and Kamaron Black. The first episode was weird, simple, chaotic and most importantly fun. I'm ultra-pleased I have such a creative outlet like my college radio where I can create and curate content as a form of expression. Massive thanks and love to my guy Kamaron Black. ♥ ⓜⓘⓝⓣRADIO 001 Air Date: 2/9/17 only Radio UTD
Beige album starter pack: G.O.A.T. collection. In order of their release.
Ambient Cats Radio returns to the internet streams! 🐈 Thursdays 🐈 🐈 18:00 - 21:00 CST 🐈
A listen back on a truly unique album. Australian duo Collarbones came out with thier debut album Iconography back in 2011, a deep-dark introspective on the electronic genre and emotion; undoubtedly influenced by alternative culture of artists past, but notably isolated in sound due to their geographic location. In my view, this cultivated a distinct sound, combining glitch soundscape with thick and robust rhythm. This early sound for Collarbones is easy to catch from their highly exploited and distorted chops from producer Travis Cook which form their chord progressions, juxtaposed with R&B-esque vocals from singer Marcus Whale. I think that's brilliant. Extrapolate this into a track selection, add the comparable, powerful imagery that is the album cover above and you make a great debut release.
A fantastic visual element was the official video for the single "The Ghostship", synonymous to the album art in tone and impact. On that note, other singles "Don Juan", the album intro, and "Beaman Park" might be some of Collarbones best work to date, within reason. It was great for the time and forward for the year.
If it was ever released on vinyl: keep it black, keep it simple. They also made an even better sophomore record, but that can be another post.
Toronto: Bound Airport music. Many people fashion a mix of various artists solely for the purpose of accompanying or soundtracking their travels, but few albums themselves are crafted with such a feeling as this album here. The hub of transport that is the airport fosters a zone of “possibilities,” ascending and descending to and from anywhere in the world, and for anyone.
The overcast fits nicely for a contemplative and complacent tone.

Nearly 4 years ago, I discovered NIVA one of my favorite releases of all time. I find myself listening to it often, no matter what the season. NIVA's Feverish Dreams release has a summer warmth to it, and yet also a winter frigidness in its vocals and production. 2015 is NIVA's comeback, or at least I want it to be. If it released on color vinyl, I envision it as the picture I made above.
Life is cool because you can start something with an idea and it can grow and evolve and then it becomes something tangible. I present the first ever, very real and tangible and fun Ambient Cats pool party, hosted by my friend and musical pal of 2 years Yazz.
I love my friends. I love music. Now I can love both at a pool party ♥
This spotlight is for the Denmark man known as Galimatias and U.S. native Alina Baraz teaming up for my favorite release of 2015, and probably for the rest of the year.
It is early to assume nothing better will come out, but this is at least 2 years in the making. The initial track “Drift” was a simple collaborative effort released back in late 2013, and since then have trickled out more singles to compliment their duo-tenacity.
The fourth installment “Fantasy” dropped mid 2014 and an EP was unveiled; the Urban Flora was to be released. But when? Well it took the some months, but today, May 19th 2015, they officially released the set. Beautifully crafted gems, all with consistent and quality music which sparks a sense of wonder, emotion and mental awe.
Each track released prior has had a complimenting cover of a skillfully altered bust which I think adds a lot to the musical entity. I personally asked the graphic artist, Gabriel Levesque AKA Oska Design , and said that the figure is from 17th century bust by Giuseppe Piamontini. Too dope. I’ve been looking forward to this for a while. Now it’s here and the world is good.
♡ Happy Valentines Day ♡ In my opinion, this is the smoothest, most sensual release of the decade amongst the underground ambient producers out there. Phil Gerus graced us with this EP several months ago, but I don't think it has been more applicable and/or enjoyable before today. I hope everyone will have a great evening and find happiness, for sure. yeh shoutout to Phil Gerus for liking this post haha
The teaser to the glorious return of Ambient Cats in the 2k15. I’m very happy.
So Radio has taught me a few things I deem valuable: know what you love, and love doing it. I've been listening to music and collecting it for the better part of my life, and I know what I like. That's why I collect it. But, I know a lot of people don't always agree/share the like. That never stopped me from making 10s of mix CDs for friends. I like to think I've gotten good at them. Putting this much time into one, DIY style, you have to be optimistic. shoutout to robynmaurer for this mix CD she's getting. Listen to the tracklist in the player.
