started watching Dazzling and it’s like kinda like Speed and Love if you took out all the good parts? and I feel like I’m the only person who’s bothered by how rude this female protagonist is lol..? and why have they styled her in these little maid outfits that don’t suit her at all

and the male protagonist just has no presence for me, just shows up when something needs to be fixed and that’s it

Dazzling (and I ranted about this when Meet Yourself came out) demonstrate one of my annoyance with the Mainland Line Delivery Discourse (TM)

Which is … why are the locals in canonically small town all speaking standard mandarin?

Like … 3 out of my 4 grandparents did not speak standard mandarin. If you were to say, watch interviews of Gen X or older, they would not consistently speak standard mandarin. Sure, the younger generation.

(Which I know, it’s more of need to enforce CCP’s aggressive standardization of mandarin aka that voice actor mandarin accent that no one in real life actually speaks, but I can still be annoyed about it.)

(Like Meet Yourself is arguably worse because everyone is in Yunnan.)

I did laugh because the prejudice against those who dye their hair in the mainland is strong.

(LYR, I have a lot of fondness for you, but your good boy vibe is off the charts. Putting the plastic water bottle in the regular garbage can does not a punk make.)

(That said, it’s just mid enough to be entertaining.)

I am bored enough to keep watching Dazzling and I would say that I would 100% watch a show about her.

I love her and her blouse and matching eyeshadows.
