about a year ago i made this post with my original reference list of names. i wanted to find an easier way to add onto it and include more information that just the origin. and from that i have created what i like to call the Name List™ 2.0. it’s a spreadsheet this time, including origins, meanings, and potential nicknames, as well as any other information that might be good to know when using a particular name !

this list is heavy on names with latin, greek, hebrew, varying flavors of celtic and western european origins, with arabic names also popping up a fair bit. so by no means is it some sort of end-all, be-all source but i would like to diversify it further in future updates.

if you have any additions or corrections, please feel free to shoot me a message ! i’m far from an expert, and sources can sometimes be inconsistent because etymology is complicated.

some nicknames 

pronunciations (mostly for those dang gaelic names i love so much)

more of my ramblings in the notes column (the longer i add to this thing the less seriously i take it)

looking for:

someone to help me out with the nicknames column !!! send me suggestions please, i beg of you

someone to help me double check pronunciations and meanings for names that aren’t western european in origin — a lot of my sources are pretty….white….. (as am i) and i want to make sure i’m not getting anything too wrong
