🔴 BREAKING: According to The Telegraph (Aug 21, 2025), famine has officially been declared in Gaza for the first time by the UN-backed IPC.
While Israel prepares to destroy what remains of Gaza City, families here are being torn apart by hunger, destruction, and despair.
My own family is among those suffering, with nothing left to survive on.
Please, donate to help keep us alive. 🇵🇸🕊️

Learning to communicate in a healthy way doesn’t mean you get it perfect. But it means you take accountability and make efforts to clarify if needed.
Fumbles are fine.
You can say:
“That didn’t come out right.”
“I was trying to ask for closeness, but it sounded like blame.”
It’s okay to fumble. It doesn’t mean you’re a failure. No one is perfect and you don’t need to get it perfect every time.
why would you do this to me
don't worry, they do this to him also
Smash Potato Quiche —
I actually went and found the video and this guy listed the full recipe
Recipe:
Ingredients:
2 lbs boiled yellow potatoes
1 cup local milk
1/2 cup local 35% Cream
6 whole eggs
1 cup diced ham
1 cup sliced cherry tomatoes
2 cups cleaned spinach
1 scotch bonnet pepper or jalapeno sliced thinly (optional)
1 cup grated local mozzarella
3 tablespoons salt - 2 for the water to cook the potatoes and 1 for the egg and milk mixture
1 tablespoon black pepper
2 tablespoons chopped chives
2 tablespoons local salted butter
Method
Add your potatoes to a large stock pot and fill with cold water. Add salt and allow to boil until fork tender. Once ready strain water and allow to cool for a few minutes
Preheat oven to 350°F
Grease a large cake tin thoroughly with butter and add your now cooled boiled potatoes.
Using the back of a cup gently press down on the potatoes to form your crust.
Add spinach, diced ham, and tomatoes
In a large bowl whisk together milk, cream and eggs. Then carefully pour this into your shell.
Top this with a sprinkle of salt and pepper, hot pepper slices, and mozzarella.
Place this on top of a baking sheet and bake on the middle rack for 45-50 minutes.
Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
Finish with chopped chives and enjoy.
I am here for this Ontario content. Smashed potato quiche for the win!
This sounds fantastic! And a much easier gluten-free crust than my proprietary mix of teff, oat, and rice flours, etc.
how’s that house that raised you?
reminder that making time for your friends, even when you're tried and socialising feels overwhelming is important to do every so often. it's especially important to do this actually.
time alone can be good, for a time, but humans are social creatures and we need to talk to people, there's nothing wrong with that!!
sometimes the more time you spend alone the more your brain will tell you to stay alone. that's not true, you're allowed to (and should!!) see people that are important to you. sometimes that alone can be surprisingly healing.
but even just see/meet people in general (you don't know who can become important), and communicate. do not entirely isolate yourself or wait for them to approach you first. you can make the first move too. staying in touch with others also helps you stay grounded and present while healing, and that's very important.
oh ok
“Why would you stop in hell?” has changed my brain chemistry
it’s fucking wild because one day you’re like i guess i’m not dying tragically young and you go to the store and you buy dental floss, ingredients for soup, and a bath mat
it’s this sentiment in practice, in day to day.
Today's warm up: For me, go get a warm drink, eat something you love and look out the window. Enjoy this moment.
it's very important that disabled people are allowed to make bad decisions actually. that we're allowed to do things which cause flare-ups. that we're allowed to take a risk and get it wrong. that not every single second of our day has to be about playing it safe and being well-behaved and staying within our limits
and on the days when we deal with the consequences of those mistakes and bad decisions we're still worthy of a) sympathy and b) pain relief. just as we are if our illness or disability is the result of our choices in the first place
also tbh sometimes it is MEDICALLY important that you take risks and fuck it up because playing it safe can cause "safety" to shrink. can convince your brain that everything outside of those bounds is forbidden. can increase your body's response to threat because everything unfamiliar becomes threat because you've taught it that it's not allowed to do those things because they're dangerous. and if they're dangerous then they're painful and the pain gets worse and the limits get smaller and your life SHRINKS
this is not true of all conditions (for some, pushing through can have a lasting negative impact, i'm not disputing that) but maybe trust people to know whether it's true for their own condition and allow them the autonomy to weigh up the risk and the benefit
just gonna drop this here also to point out that this is not a new concept
If the Corporation for Public Broadcasting is shutting down, then the radio station i listen to is shutting down. This will be the second radio station that I've lost in two years. I would like to live in a world not sponsored by iheartradio and Siriusfm.
the difference between syndicated radio and public/independent radio is huge. I used to know a corporate guy at Sirius. He said every song

got focus grouped. No funky local bands, no weird idiosyncratic hourly shows, no ads for community arts events. Just the musical equivalent of a strip mall.
we gotta stop the strip-mall-ification of radio.
Every time I hear a cool song or theres a special on an artist on my NPR music station, I add them to a spotify that is just for those artists so i can look for their bandcamp later. Its a funky mix of local (Columbus OH) bands, weird jazz, middle eastern shaabi, mariachi and god knows what else.
I dont... do that with other radio stations.
I don't want focus group music. I actually don't want to be catered to personally- I want to be subjected to the questionable tastes of a local weirdo that knows what a cümbüş sounds like.
Oh! Here's that spotify of funky tunes.
Your NPR station doesn’t have to be lost. Can you donate once a year? Maybe a few bucks a month? If you live in the area where it is located, you might consider volunteering for a pledge drive. Can you make brownies for a bake sale? Every little thing you could do would help.
Here’s a site to help you find out how to help.
Help preserve independent journalism and community programming across America by adopting a public media station. Congress has voted to resc
