It feels like all the years
Spent together
Was just a fragment of my imagination
You were there
But not quite here
Maybe time has re-opened
What was once healed.

It feels like all the years
Spent together
Was just a fragment of my imagination
You were there
But not quite here
Maybe time has re-opened
What was once healed.
People like you when your happy
But I’m not
Chronically crippled
By uncontrollable crying
Mourning
Morning after morning
I’m left for lamenting losses
That feel life-sized
I am too soft
My sensitivity my saboteur
A scape - goat for gutting me
For giving me grief
For grieving
I find myself again
Friendless and
In a fog
The search party stopped searching
Unbecoming times
Filed with whiskey bottle
Rhymes
Letters you forgot to send
Wishing there was an end
To this melancholic trend
Of lies beneath our teeth
No one ever expresses their
Grief.
I’d be lying if I say I did
I recede and close this lid
No one wants to hear the bad
We’d rather smile
And say “I’m glad.
This dungeons always finds me
In my mind till perfect timing.
Death is only a joke for two
That keeps feeding
More than it
Consumes
Twined lines
That define
Your will to
Live
Maybe just forgive
The threads
Of once said
Death is only a joke for one
But which is,
Less fun?
“Are we dreaming? Do I have only to pronounce a certain name, so that everything will come together, small miracles will happen, and I will be drawn deeper and deeper into an enchantment? The stars sing, it is a high whirring sound; I will not try to convince anyone, but we heard it that night.”
— Christa Wolf, from Cassandra: A Novel and Four Essays, trans. Jan van Heurck (Farrar, Straus, and Giroux, 1984)
“I imagine poets stitching the world together. Long silver threads of text. Lines prompting reading, dreaming minds not to see every thing by itself and separate, but to see the seams often unseen in the dark expanses across space and time. This is, perhaps, a kind of sorcery. A power not to wield, but to hold. To practice holding.”
— Ellie A. Rogers, from “Movements,” Ecotone: Reimagining Place (Fall/winter 2017)
You know most people say walk a mile in my shoes, I'd like to say spend a day in my head.
— Colicchie
“When you are attracted to people, it’s because of the details. Their kindness. Their eyes. The fact that they can get you to laugh when you need it the most.”
— Jodi Picoult
“you flow differently when the right people are watering you.”
— iambrillyant
Why didn't I learn to treat everything like it was the last time. My greatest regret was how much I believed in the future.
— Jonathan Safran Foer, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
In a sense, I'm the one who ruined me: I did it myself.
— Haruki Murakami
But just because you're strong and resilient doesn't mean you never need someone to be there for you, to take care of you.
— Tammara Webber
