Aaron Epic won the original Tournament For Tomorrow tournament back in November of 2011, defeating ACH in the finals. He is filling in for Hania the Huntress who was originally scheduled to face Green Ant.
After some positioning, Green Ant takes Epic to the mat. Quickly Epic puts on a modified abdominal stretch when Green Ant transitions into a lateral press for a two count. Epic traps Green Ant’s arms after a test of strength. Green Ant rolls Epic back to the mat. He drops an elbow on Epic’s leg before applying a side headlock. Epic stretches out both of Green Ant’s arms before rolling him into a backslide for another two count. Green Ant arm drags Epic into a hammerlock, reversing the hold onto his right arm where he uses his body weight to apply pressure. Epic trips Green Ant, applying pressure to his ankle while using his own legs to lock his arm. Epic gets the ropes before Green Ant can go after his legs. He does however nail a dropkick. Epic cracks him with a rolling back elbow. Green Ant kicks him in the back of the head from the mat. Epic however pulls him into an STO DDT for two. He digs his knees into Green Ant’s back while pulling on his arms. Green Ant attempts a submission to Epic’s arm. Epic escapes and throws an uppercut to Green Ant’s shoulder blades. Green Ant ducks an elbow and hits a Blue Thunder Bomb. Both men trade headbutts and strikes as they come to their feet. Green Ant nails a bicycle kick. Epic sends him to the apron. Green Ant hits an enzuigiri and a springboard dropkick from the second rope for two. Although Epic tries to fight out, Green Ant is able to hit an Angle Slam for two. Epic fights off the Cloverleaf. He knees Green Ant in the back before applying an Achilles Lock whilst digging his knee into Green Ant’s back. He then puts on a leg capture STF. Green Ant grabs the ropes to escape. Epic goes for the Achilles Lock again. Green Ant instead counters with an inside cradle. He superkicks Epic and drops him with a DDT. He puts on the Cloverleaf, causing Epic to submit at 9:55.
Green Ant knocking off the winner of the inaugural first Tournament for Tomorrow makes him the guy the beat. Epic had a really good strategy going after Green Ant’s neck and back, but he had his game plan scouted it and maneuvered himself into victory flawlessly. The action was fun and consistent and never wavered from the story they told. A perfect way to kick off the festivities. **¾
