Sorry for the hiatus, folks. We’re back with Charles H. Hitchcock, Class of 1856, son of President Hitchcock and carrier of the family penchant for geology. He started out a little shaky in the facial hair department, but worked up a truly splendid walrus in his later years.

Henry J. Van Lennep, class of 1837, and five of his seven brothers. Henry has the sideburns leaking onto his neck, his brothers have a thing for mustaches and side parts. They were born into a missionary family and Henry was a missionary, artists and translator himself. This is a photograph of a daguerreotype that was taken about 1840-1845.
