âI have to say Iâm impressed,â Galen noted as he materialized, a heady cloud of violet smoke parting for his form. He hid his exhaustion well, charming smile curving his lips as he glanced around the room. It looked familiar, he noted distantly. âItâs not many who can summon an incubus just likeââ He stopped when his eyes lit on the otherâs form. ââOh. Itâs you.âÂ
âNot willinâ to give new charms to an old face?â the woman spoke, picking her teeth with a toothpick and flicking it at his chest with a some-amused smirk.
âMuch obliged for that tip âbout a month back by the way.â
She chuckled to herself.
âCall me Sherman because goddamn...â--Theresa took out a cigarette, lit it, inhaled deeply, and grinned at the memory and all the bloody satisfaction she felt for remembering it--â...did I make Georgia howl.â
âHear anything lately?â

Saint Theresa
â Name: Theresa Ma
â Age: 38
â Species: Human
â Alignment: True Neutral
â Occupation: Hunter
â The Story: Mother. Wife. Spec-Ops Marine. Theresa was all these until she was not. She left the Marine Corps to marry, and moved to Texas and lived on an idle, pastoral ranch wherein her love bred horses. She became a mother when her son was born and his small, fragile hand grasped her outstretched finger and seeing such, and his smile, was better than all else in the world.
And then it was gone. Some years passed and one night she returned to a too silent home, save for the scampering about of the horses spooked and afraid. She walked through the open doorway and saw there on living room floor her husbandâs bled and opened body and next to him a red figure crouched and chewing at her child.
She broke that night and killed the bloodsucker who had killed her own, over a slow period of days, asking him all the questions she desired until he had nothing left to give. And then she left, feeling nothing but hate and wanting nothing but bloody satisfaction.
Theresa Ma--once a mother, once a wife, once a marine--has no love for the world and now hunts those beasts kin to her familyâs killer.
Doom (2016) - BFG Division
I certify to you that, with the help of God, we shall powerfully enter into your country, and shall make war against you in all ways and manners that we can; we shall take you, and your wives, and your children, and shall make slaves of them, and as such shall sell and dispose of them; and we shall take away your goods, and shall do you all the mischief and damage that we can: and we protest that the deaths and losses which shall accrue from this are your fault, and not that of their highnesses, or ours, nor of these cavaliers who come with us.

Theo frowned. The voice that spoke was unfamiliar, thick with the northern sound, but speaking the language of the keep. The pulled away from the touch, and pulled themselves up, âI was resting. Waiting until I could proper see again.â They said, and scooted back further, until their back bumped the tree. They still felt the buzz in their ears, the world still spun and then had no weapon now, only the hope that whoever this was would not attack.
âIâm not a child.â They added, âWhat is that thing, it is loud and I do not like it.â Theo asked, scooting further away from the horse, that stomped quietly, snuffing and making other strange noises, âIf it is staying I will take my leave.â
Those that were still on horse, those that followed Theron and called her Khan and sometimes thought her having blood of beast, laughed at the girl. But these, the Khan silenced, without word, needing only to raise hand; the riders backing their horses away as well.
âWho are you that you are not knowing horses?â

The ground was cold. Cold and wet and everything was dark. The footsteps of the dumb knight had long since retreated, and sound flooded through Theoâs ears, a white noise of water, the animals of the forest, and deafening nothingness. Their back ached. There was a warmth spreading around the base of their head, warm and wet. Blood, probably, but they couldnât tell if it was their own. Theo took another breath, listening to it rattle around their rib cage like something was let loose in their lungs, and let it out, softly, softly, softly. The visions played distantly in their head, all grey and washed out and faded, far away. Part of Theo wondered if the blood was their own, would they die here? If not, maybe something wilder than them would get to them before the others had a chance to look.Â
Between the cool night breeze on their skin, and the ever so slight warmth of the morning sun, years seemed to pass. Theo drifted in and out of a hazy sleep, wanting for their warm grass bedding with Olena and the snores of the men distantly lulling them into a comfortable sleep.Â
It had to have been days when the sound of footsteps, close footsteps, right by their head footsteps, snapped them out of the haze.
She got down her horse and walked up to the small thing lying on the ground, some of those who called her Khan some steps behind her, seated on horses all, and looking at small thing with mild curiosity as if thing were large rabbit.
She crouched down, beside child lying there, eyes of hers like butterflies in fluttering. She poked the small thing, feeling tip of finger push into flesh of arm and seeing red of dried blood also on the childâs hair.
âWhat are you doing out here child? It is not good thing for child to be out here, so alone, in dark.â
âFor this, perhaps you are right.â In times of war, Antony was their best options, but in times of peace? There was nothing more dangerous. âHave you spoken with him as of late? He may not be the same warrior that you recall.âÂ
She sighed. There was long quiet--only sound of candles flickering, which is small sound, like sound of smallest insect, being heard--for a time, eyes of her looking at short flame of one candle.
But when speaking, voice of hers was like initial drum-noise heard when war-drum starts beating. Beginning low and growing in beat; slap of hand against taut skin of drum as armies go marching.
âYou are right. He is boy again. I look in eyes of him and see child, no more man I once knew.â
She looked at King once more.
âYou are better King than him, but he still better commander than you. Give him purpose. He is now like small boy not knowing what to do. Give him thing to do. He will be man once more.â
Priscaâs spine straightened subtly under her dress as she watched the fearsome warrior interact with her child. Titus smiled his charming smile (so like his fatherâs used to be), unaware of the dangerous woman before him. Prisca had to admitâshe rather admired the KhanâTheron, a mere knight in the realm, though she commanded much more respect than any ordinary knight.
âI donât think so, my lady,â replied little Titus, which prompted a motherâs gentle nudge to his shoulder.
âTitus, this woman is no mere lady,â she said coolly, âShe is the leader of a great many people. Pay your respect.â
Titus dutifully obeyed and gave her a bow. Turning his face up to his mother, he smiled again. âWas that better, Mama?â
âYes, child, that was better.â Even though she had curtsied once already, she did so again. âSer Theron, what a pleasure it is to meet you at last.â
âYou are knowing who I am?â
She rose, running hand of hers through hair of young child, and looking into eyes of mother with smile.
âI am hoping you are not nervous. Only some stories are true. Not all. Only some.â
The Khan spoke, child at her feet smiling up at mother knowing so little of woman running her hand through his hair. Small, innocent child knowing so little.
The sheer rudeness of her comment left him speechless. âIâŠâ He shook his head, straightening up to a better posture. âI was lost in thought. You do look vaguely threatening.â
She smiled.
âYes. Perhaps you should be jumping when I am walking in dark near you. I am like monster. One being under your bed when you are sleeping. One with horns and sharp teeth for chewing meat.â
She laughed.
âYes, perhaps you should be jumping.â
âI was busy,â Antony protested, swatting her hand away. It felt like the bickering between school boys, like he used to when he was younger, he and Hamish. âI no longer sit on the throne, my Uncle rarely demands that I attend to such things. But now I must lead my army, now we must strike, my dearest Theron.â
It was smile at first, on her face, seeing fire in eyes of him, but soon smile was gone, like smoke in wind, and she was very like stone with hard face and unmoving eyes.
âWhat is it you are wanting?â
Serafina titled her head and briefly observed the woman, before shrugging. âYou are right about that, they are in all places. Altar is just a vessel from which we can offer our gifts in a more⊠Sacred manner.â
She shrugged.
âI am not seeing sense in this thing. In altars.â
She smirked, chuckling to herself.
âLazy gods; not wanting to move.â
He nearly jumped at the sound of footsteps behind him. The chance of war looming over the kingdom had been the main topic for the last couple weeks, lighting up a spark of fear that underlied his everyday life.
âYou should not sneak up on people like that.â
She shrugged, indifferent to the boy.
âAnd you should not be small child, one startling at all things, even if things are just sound of walking, when you have body of grown man.â
Serafina Larivere was seated in front of the altar, in a room she used as a temple. It was secluded and private, and frankly? She could do whatever she liked there. Hearing a soft knock on the hard wooden door, Serafina threw the heavy sacred cloak from her shoulders, and let it fall on the ground next to her feet as she got up from the cushion, calling out :Â âDo come in.â Before the person entered, Serafina filled her chalice with the finest red wine imported from Waywyn and turned around to greet the âintruderâ.
âMy, my, someone is eager to speak with the Gods. What can I do for you tonight?â The priestess spoke, her tone gentle and soft, perfectly aiding the mockery in it. As if the Gods listened. As if anyone but her allies, her sisters were Gods.
She looked at walls of place as she walked, looked at altar, looked at woman, eyes moving from thing to thing, taking all in, as might eagle that flies over land and finds rabbit in long grasses below.
âWe do not share same Gods,â she spoke, now standing at altar and with fist knocking against it as if to see if thing was real.
âWhy make altar to Gods? They who are everyone, not in one place.â

BIOGRAPHY
In the wintered miles far beyond the Northern Kingdom, beyond the snowy lands where the wildlings clans keep, there lies a ridge of mountains, running from east to west, and vast plain on the northern slopes. Here ride a brutal nomadic people. For these women and men there is no time for great poetry, relaxed leisure, or idle contemplation. Resources are here scarce and war amongst competing tribes constant. To be weak is to die, to be strong is to survive and thus has this land bred a hardened people merciless, cold, and unerring in getting that which they might desire.
Theronâthe name Antony Vitello would later give her, unable to pronounce PergĂŒi Ganbaatarâwas born in this land. And if this hellish land was one wherein dwelt demons then she was Devil among them.
She was young when she took power of her tribe, the Amongkholi. There was doubt, she was too young some said, but these that spoke this soon grew silent as the womanâs naturally calculating mind, her strategic brilliance, and her brutal efficiency, brought victory on victory and the expansion of the Amongkholi domain.
When Prince Antony Vitello, wishing to prove himself to his father, set out to conquer lands south of the mountain ridge she saw an opportunity to expand her power further. The Amongkholi leader met with the Prince and soon agreed that she and her tribe would ride through the mountain ridge, coming down on the wildings from the north while Antony attacked from the south if in return the Prince would allow her to expand her dominion south past the long mountain ridge. In unison they conquered the lands and at the campaignâs end the Amongkholi domain had very much become a sizable dominion.
They parted, each off to their own duty, but she swore she come if ever he called.
Now Theron comes down from the north bringing with her all those who call her Khan to give unto them a better, warmer, land to live in. And these come in great number and make fearful those that see them; for they are like devils some say, and all close their doors as they pass.
PAST SELF
PENTHESILEIA was a Queen of the Amazones who led her troops to the Trojan War in support of King Priamos. Some say she came as a mercenary, others that she was seeking redemption for the accidental killing of her sister. In the battles which ensued, Penthesileia slew the Greek hero Makhaon, but was herself felled by Akhilleus.
