I think a lot of people are doomerposting on williams. You do remember that Williams weren't finishing half the races last season right.
They were a backmarker last year and the team is still figuring out how to adapt to upper midfield. They have the pace, Carlos got into points from 16th in Canada 2025 despite being under LICO grade 2 and 4. And Alex was p6 from p12 in austria before retiring.
The problem is they are performing operational errors.
The real doomed team right now is Alpine.
I have realised with the reactions to Sainz Sr withdrawal, that people don’t actually have an idea on how the elections actually work.
Sometime after Sainz Sr had made his bid official, multiple national motor clubs( the voting base of fia) had come out in support of MBS and later he was endorsed by Eccelstone and his wife Fabiana ( who mind you is the vice president of the FIA).
MBS has also pretty much thrown out anyone who opposed him and has made it harder to run against him.
Also keeping MBS elected is pretty much in the interest of multiple countries including middle eastern and USA.
And there’s also the fact that FIA president are never voted out of office. They only leave after serving the full terms.
Anyone with an inkling of how corrupt the FIA system was, should know that neither Sainz Sr or Susie for that matter have much of a chance and the only way MBS is leaving early is if a fucking major scandal on the level of fifa breaks out.

reading nico interviews from 2010 where he deals with being teammates with and beating michael schumacher but contending it with it's not the schumie on form everyone knew... fascinating insights. that last line really explains why he retired instead of going for glory
