This is an old painting that long ago found a really good home. I haven't done many sunsets in fact I think this is the only one but I do have another one in mind that I want to work on we'll see how it goes.This is an 18 x 24 in oil and here's an excerpt from Mary Oliver's poem "The Sun". Have you ever seen anything in your life more wonderful than the way the Sun, every evening, relaxed and easy floats towards the horizon. It is an extraordinarily ugly day outside zillions of little glass beads covering every surface outside and it's still coming down bouncing off the windows. Here's another big favorite of mine and I mean big this is the last large painting I did in my big studio in Boston before I moved here. It's roughly 50 by 40 in and it's called Pines. I painted this from memory after a trip along the Maine coast where I saw a group of Pines in the fog. Here's another one of my favorites it's called Sentinel and I believe it's 24 by 18 in oil on canvas. At any other time of the year you absolutely cannot see this rock and it's huge - super huge but when there's leaves on the trees you can't see it at all. This oil painting is called Fallen and is 20 X 30 in oil on paper. It snowed all day so I painted all day and goofed around in the studio came across some paintings that I've never put out in the public, they're kind of favorites of mine. Phew what a busy week this is been! This building has fascinated me for ages I've no idea what it was used for probably grain storage since it's all wood.
