I have a very nice neighbor. He’s a conservative, not MAGA but conservative, dude. Older retired contractor, pretty laid back. Very friendly, always willing to help folks. Just a good guy all around.
When I broke my hip he mowed difficult parts of our yard just because he knew it was hard for my spouse, who is tiny and could not easily maneuver the lawnmower up some of the steeper slopes. We didn’t have to ask, he just knew the situation and took it upon himself to help.
Today when I was outside mowing he slid through the bushes between our property and apologized for not cutting his grass lately. His explanation was there are flowers coming up and he doesn’t want to cut them because the bees need them to survive. He said since the environment is getting worse it’s important to protect them, and he’d try to make sure to cut around the edges as much as he could.
Of course he then said he believes the environment is getting worse because both parties of the government have conspired to poison the atmosphere with chem trails and pulled out his phone to show me the pictures he took of some particularly egregious ones.
But still, he cares about the bees.
Inevitable.
