From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: I fratelli Dinamite (internationally released as The Dynamite Brothers) is a 1949 Italian animation film directed by Nino and Toni Pagot.

It is considered the first Italian feature-length animated film and the first Italian film in Technicolor together with La Rosa di Bagdad by Anton Gino Domeneghini which was also released in 1949. The production of the film began in 1942, and it was held back by a bombing that destroyed original drawings for the film.

The Tinderbox (Danish: Fyrtøjet) is a 1946 Danish animated film directed by Svend Methling and produced by Dansk Farve- og Tegnefilm, Palladium, It is the first full-length Danish and European animated film ever made. It was an adaption of Hans Christian Andersen's popular fairytale of the same name. The film was in colour. The project was inspired by the works of Walt Disney, Max Fleischer, and Dave Fleischer, especially their "Gulliver's Travels" (1939).

Garbancito de la Mancha

“Garbancito de la Mancha––called Enchanted Sword in English versions––was the first animated film out of Spain, and the first cel-animated, color film to come from Europe.

The story follows Garbancito, an orphan well-respected in his village. When the giant maneater Caramanca comes to town, egged on by a witch, Garbancito must rescue his kidnapped friends. A fairy godmother enchants a sword for his use, as well as gives him the power to shrink at will. With his goat Peregrina at his side, Garbancito ventures to fight the giant, while also avoiding 3 bullies from the village. 

Garbancito de la Mancha is an adaptation of a story by Julian Pemartín, who had written it to amuse his daughters. It ended up being his most popular work.

The film was directed by Arturo Moreno, a Spanish cartoonist and animator. He began work as a professional artist in the 1920s. In 1942, he formed the animation studio Diarma Films. Its first works were Bayer commercials, as well as a short film entitled The Stormy Captain. Although he couldn’t find a distributor for the short film, José María Blay showed interest in releasing a feature-length film. Moreno hesitated to do this, as he didn’t have sufficient means to carry out a project of such dimensions. It ended up taking two years with a staff of around 100 people, one of whom was Rosa Galcéran, a female cartoonist who heavily influenced Spanish comics.

Moreno’s style included ‘drawings and caricatures with rounded shapes and broad strokes.’ The film cost 3,809,618 pesetas to create and earned profits of between two and three million pesetas. The critics of the time appreciated the film, and it was used in propaganda. In his defense, though Moreno himself showed a strong Spanish nationalism, he had never intended the film as propaganda.

Unfortunately, the film has never been restored, and the present copies available are of relatively poor quality.
