I haven't been as "put together" this year as I have been in the past. So some of my planning and and execution haven't been up to my own standard. Despite this, I've somehow managed to find my way into some awesome places. Sometimes bad timing and subpar planning still workout for the better. Case in point: I was late to arrive here but the sunlight and water vapors hit just right as crossed behind the waterfall. I won't be making a habit of this so don't get hyped. The motto remains the same "If you're early you're on time" etc. ... But If you're late, you just might still have a chance at greatness. I know. I haven't posted to the front page in a while. I'm sorry about that. I've been distracted and I was traveling a little... but I'm back! If you followed my Instagram stories for a while, you know some of what went down. 😉 ` Anyway, along my travels, I found myself taking a bite out of this beauty of a macaroon from the stellar chefs at La Cigale (french for Cicada). You'll find them on the French side of the Island of St. Maarten 🇸🇽 (see highlights). ` The meal was fantastic! I recommend making a reservation timed for just before sunset. Penny for my thoughts? This trip almost didn't happen. My expectations and plans had to change and adjust throughout the endeavor. They say, "We make plans and God laughs." Does he laugh WITH us or AT us? Do I concentrate on executing the perfect plan or just putting myself in perfect position? Is perfect possible? I couldn't think of a short caption so I'll just give you a peek at my thoughts here. I was thinking about the family we're given versus the family we choose. I was also thinking about how they're inextricably linked to our life's journey. I was at the same time reminded of a meme where one person posed the cliché question: "What's more important, the journey or the destination?" The respondent answered "The People." ■ It's so true! The people we choose to walk with us can make the journey so much easier (or at least make the difficulties easier to bear) and make the satisfaction of reaching the destination so much greater. Summer isn't ready yet and we're going to let Spring bake a little more. In the meantime we can look back at some warm weather staples sure to make a comeback in a few months. I was just looking through my phone gallery of pictures and came across this one. It made me think of a few things: ¤ The first is the fact that having a trip to look forward to keeps me from going insane at work. If I didn't have pursuits outside of work, I probably would've "lost it" by now. ¤ Secondly, this theme kept popping up this week - "Friends who've become family." There have been so many people whom I've invited to sit (or vice versa) who ended up becoming lifelong friends. They've helped to keep me sane too. ¤ Lastly, one of my favorite things in the world is to enjoy summer or warm weather with good company. This morning my coworkers and I got to talking about travel. Greece, Morocco, Portugal, Monaco etc. were mentioned. It looks like we're all looking to knock several countries off of our respective lists. I remarked on how one could knock several off by island hopping in the Caribbean. Someone please remind me to write a review for Tantra Tulum. I'm trying to figure out how to integrate the definition of the word "Tantra" (Sanskrit - 'Woven Together') into my opening paragraph. In any case, Tantra Tulum's highs hit REALLY high. The presentation of food & drink is so... elaborate, vibrant, almost "over-the-top" ... and I love it! As I start checking countries off of my list, I'm running into a small problem. The problem is this: I'll get there with a full list of things I wanted to do. I'll get them all done and then, once I've gotten home, I'll find something I didn't know about or didn't think of. Now, who knows when I'll return to do or see that "thing"? Therein lies the problem. . *Insert Cenote Suytun* I spotted the place AFTER I had returned from my 5th trip to Mexico. It turns out I had literally driven by the place two times! Frustrated with myself I added a high priority note to make it to the cenote, if I was ever in the Mayan Riviera again. The opportunity came sooner than I expected! . It was awesome! My camera doesn't do it justice (which is another problem I'm hoping to rectify soon). Anyways, here's a pic. If you followed me long enough, you know I'm breaking one of my own rules.
