Alright! After much thought, I have come to a conclusion!
Two things can be true at the same time 🎉 I both really like, and am kinda lost after episode 8. I both really wish TriStamp was more like the 98 show and TriMax, and love that it's different.
After all, "Comparison is the thief of joy"
I think that other than design choices (legato and wolfwood, I'm lookin at you) the thing about the new series that really bugs me is how little time we have with it
It's really fucked up of Studio Orange to make Vash look so damn good while bEING TORTURED! He's going through The Horrors TM and also SO GODDAMN FINE-
Y'all, why is Papyrus so much easier to draw than Sans? I'm tryin to get back into art-ing, and I figured skeletons would be a good place to start, and it's been great. And obviously I was like "by the stars and beyond, I should draw my favorite skelebros," and after a bit of studying the sprites, I'm pretty happy with my Papys, but like
How the hell do people decide what to do with Sans? Like, if I make his smile more like the sprite, it seems too pained, but if I do the usual bean shaped grin, it doesn't feel right. And then his stupid peanut head! The cranium-frontal-lobe-top-bit is larger than the jaw-bone-lower-part in the sprite, and his head is wide, and everything is wroooong ugh
okay, so, idk if this has already been talked about in the Fandom, but like... Isn't the first Fallen Human suppose to be you, the player?
quick TL:DR because I get wordy fast: Given "our name" is assigned to the first fallen child and not Frisk, the nature of our/Flowey/Chara's control over the timeline, small inferences in game, and my own soft spot for this story, I'm pretty sure Chara is the Player, and thus the nature of Chara is based on how the Player treats the world of Undertale, rather than being their own fully separate (and often times regarded as 'evil and malicious') character.
So, do to certain things in Life TM, my memory sucks, so as much as I've loved Undertale, I didn't actually remember a lot of it. Which means I essentially got to play it for the first time again, relatively blind (small wins!) And in doing so, I thought about how strange it is that we control Frisk, but we aren't actually them- we name Chara. Whether after ourselves or whatever nickname we choose, Frisk is and always was Frisk, which is revealed at the end of the True Pacifist run (I have not and will not play a Genocide route, so idk if it's shown in that one either, but I'll get back to that, give me a bit), and instead, our chosen name is assigned to the first human whenever they're mentioned. So "we" are actually the first fallen human then, right?
But Chara seems to possess some level of power over the timeline anyways, right? Like, that's why they appear before you at the end of the Geno route? And that would make at least some sense; Asriel persists as Flowey, who had control over the Save File before us, so the first human who died with Asriel, after they'd fused into one super being, would also persist in some way. But due to their appearance after a Geno run, everyone and their mama figured this child was some sort of evil entity, and that never sat right with me (as far as I can remember, mind you). However, if they are "us", then Chara is more of an extension of the player. When the player makes Frisk harm others, Chara is shown as an evil, hungry soul, bent on destroying everything- so much so that they reappear if you go through a True Pacifist run after a Geno one. That being said, when you just go through a Pacifist run, the First Fallen Human is noted as someone who hated humans, sure, but who gave up their SOUL to try and free the monsters who took them in. Their signature "knife" is actually a gardening tool they probably used to harvest the flowers they used to make themselves sick (an inference based on the text in the game).
Now, I took that personally, because that's exactly what I thought of throughout my playthrough. Like, they only need one more, who am I to withhold the last SOUL they need for get out of the underground? Monster are wonderful, and Humans are awful; why can't I just hand myself over? So, obviously, I would connect the dots in this manner. That being said, my mind isn't what it used to be, and I'm not certain that all this rambling makes much sense to anyone else, so I'm jotting this down here while I still remember this wonderful game I've just finished for the first time a second time.

"i don't want to be a burden" you're worth carrying. i don't care if you'd be worth it to you; you're worth it to me. i smile every time i think of you. and buddy you're just gonna have to figure out how to cope w that <3
Me and my baby bro have been rewatching the Kung Fu Panda movies (neither of us have seen 4) and I'm honestly blown away by how artistic these movies are!! I was too young to remember when they came out (bruv didn't exist yet, lmao can you imagine??), but like, is it an exaggeration to say they were the SpiderVerse movies before the SpiderVerse movies???
This isn't to bash people who write a fictional character a way I don't personally vibe with- I just wanted to get my thoughts out (I don't think any of my friends have watched MH, I'll have to ask, but anyways). Like, clearly a lot of people dig it! Keep creating; this is basically a desperate plea for people who can write to write more soft Tim fluff
Listen, I n e e d more fanfics with Tim that... Don't make him a crass dickhead? Like, Masky fics are like a grey area- personally, I figure broski doesn't really speak with the mask on (other than the occasional "nO") and other than that idk about how vulgar he can be- but like... Tim? Tim Wright?? Who just like... Kept trying to help out with whatever was going on? Who subjected himself to revisiting a traumatic location just to help Alex with his student film- and then again later with Jay? Who agreed to help Jay with finishing the project years later despite not remembering the guy (twice, mind you)?? Who shared his very much needed medication with Jay to help him through the sickness??? Mr "Just remember you're not the only one, if that helps"????
Tim is hurt. He's fairly anxious around people, he tries to be helpful, he's self sacrificing, he's got dry humor and sass for days- he's tired. I don't think he's cruel, or violent, or mean just for the hell of it... I mean, he'll throw a punch if necessary, he'll yell and shout- but I don't think he's ever been specifically cruel like some stories make him out to be.
Like, I'm rewatching Marble Hornets (again) and I'm just... Lost on how people see him as someone who cusses like a sailor and is pretty physically violent. Also, where'd the gun thing come from? He specifically noted that he didn't get one? Like sure, aftermath Tim is probably fairly cold and distant, grumpy middle-aged man, but... Idk sometimes it all seems like a stretch to me.
TL;DR (though that was essentially the first bit of this post): I love Tim, can someone fed me more gentle Tim fics?
