— BIOGRAPHY
Part of the known Murad family of New York City — as old as old money gets.
It’s hard to track exactly why and when wealth became attached to their name, but it doesn’t matter. The where is Armenia — a place Anaïs has ironically never been to — their social standing being brought across the sea countless generations before she was born. But today, the Murads the United State knows and remembers, is made of politicians (you might remember Governors, congressmen, or Cabinet members bearing the name), entrepreneurs, businessmen lawyers, investors.
A tightly-knit family— perhaps too much so. Petros Murad raised them with the notion that they are better, and thus deserve better, than the rest.
Nepotism and hypocrisy surrounds them; and no decision is made without their best interest in mind. There is some philantrophy thrown in there, but it’s mainly for show.
Unlike the heads of the family, Anaïs doesn’t put on a mask on her way out the door every morning, but rather wears her morals and intentions on her sleeve. Sometimes, and only sometimes, she’ll conceal one thing — but hardly ever make up another.
In the dangerous area of Neutral Evil and True Neutral.
In school, Anaïs was what one might consider a nerd; she wasn’t, more dedicated and driven than naturally gifted. Even if she’d get a boyfriend every summer, there were no parties for her, no drugs, no messing around — ever since she was a little girl she’d had a passion and a dream: to become a doctor. She wouldn’t be putting that 4.0 at risk for such trivial things.
Although Anaïs got into Harvard by her own merit, there is no denying the too expensive private schools that pushed her forward — nor the benefits of not having to work through college, or the feared college loans. She never needed it, but it would be an ignorant claim that the privilege wasn’t always there to cushion her fall
Is she aware of it? As much as a privileged person can be, which is to say: yes, but choosing to ignore it at all costs.
(Admitting to nepotism is admitting that the system needs to change — but she’s the one whom the system benefits.)
Attended Harvard for Pre-Med and Med, going on to perform her residency at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (General, 1 year + Psychiatry, 3 years) + Various different prisons across NY
Her prison work was a personal choice, and most of her passion was focused there. Doctors help people, and who needs more help than this particular cut of society?
(And sure, there’s a little curiosity there, too — like opening up a Rolex to see how the cogs fit together, what makes it what it is. Every day patients are dull in comparison.)
Following opening her practice, Anaïs has attached herself as liaison to The American Psychiatric Association. She found this, too, can benefit her and her practice — what changes she needs or wants done. Some of it is for the greater good of the health system, but mostly it’s self-serving.
In contrast to it all, there is no denying where her interests lie: cracking New York’s worst’s heads open and seeing what makes them tick.

— WANTED CONNECTIONS / PLOTS
FRIENDS: Generally people from political/influential/high-society families or that went to Harvard could have crossed paths with her before NYC. She tends to have mainly guy friends. But regardless, we can work something out! If you want a wine mom for a friend, hit her up.
ROMANCE ET AL.: This is your standard ship-inclined connect — flirtationships, flings, or what have you. She’s not the easiest one to bag but we can talk about it!
ENEMIES: Self-explanatory, and the possibilities are endless. Let’s talk about it!
PATIENT: Self-explanatory. Keep in mind she’s a Psychiatrist and not a therapist, so patients would be people who need to be taking medication. Spots for this will sadly be limited so she can have a good balance between patient connections and other stuff. <3
POLITICIANS: If your character works in politics/is a legislator/etc, and they’re involved in some legislation etc that affects Pharma or the American Psychiatric Association, they may use Anaïs to get insight and act as an in-between; you may use her for consultation of Pharma bills, and so on. Alternatively, Anaïs pushing for certain Pharma legislation that benefits her practice. Or literally, anything — with her background, there’s many ways to figure out political plots!
SHADY BSNSS: Endless possibilities! Some ideas are:
1. Your character trying to talk her (bribe her? etc) into breaking doctor-patient confidentiality on enemies — be them political, gang, or what have you. A constant pressure of others trying to get Anaïs to break doctor-patient confidentiality on the mental health of politicians (or other relevant people) to them, for whatever reason. Alternatively, your character is the one others might be trying to find out more about, through her.
2. Your character potentially getting her to break the Goldwater Rule - which is where a psychiatrist publicly diagnoses a public figure without consent (ie. She goes on TV and says Julian Berkeley is a sociopath, therefore unfit to be in office)
3. For some unlawful reason giving a politician meds that will make them worse and not better (because they are against something she believes in and needs them to be incoherent when pushing for it, etc). Could also work for people other than politicians, but there would need to be a compelling enough reason behind it.
*All the shady bsnss ones would be hard to convince her of— though she’s more inclined to agree if it matches up with her morals. But regardless, your characters are welcome to try!
LAWYERS/LAW PEOPLE: It’s not something that happens too frequently, but I could see Anaïs being involved in a case where a diagnosis is needed and relevant for the trial. From there, the possibilities are endless. A family lawyer could also be cute.
(EX) PRISONERS: During her residency in Psychiatry, Anaïs did work at various different NY prisons with inmates who needed psychiatric aid. Here, she did work directly with your character — fast-forward to now and they are out of prison and, shit, they remember her. Alternatively, Anaïs didn’t work directly with your character, but they remember seeing her around the prison. (0/3)
Or any other ideas or wanted connections you can think of — hmu!
