This year I learned to be selfish. Selfish with my time, my heart, my feelings, my mind and most importantly myself. I spent entirely too much time feeling sorry for the things I couldn’t change, wishing for things I didn’t have, and begging for people who did not deserve me. It has taken me two decades to realize I am a prize worth winning, I am a caviar dinner not a gas station hot dog. This year I’ve lost people I thought I couldn’t live without and given myself everything I needed. Next year, I hope I can learn to love myself.

1. Bad experiences and failures are your greatest teachers. 2. Do not let your happiness depend on others because in reality, everyone will leave you at some point of your life. 3. At some point, you will become less sociable. You will want more time for yourself. And this is normal. 4. Prioritize yourself and your family over anything and anyone else. 5. Don’t let fears take the potential out of you. Risk. Live your dreams now. There are ideas and things that are waiting to be discovered. Waiting for you. 6. Work hard. Success won’t just knock on your door, you need to lure it and give it reasons why it should knock in the first place. 7. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Don’t be contented; always strive for more. Break your walls and start to explore. Get out there and see the world in a different perspective. Try a lot of things and ideas and eventually, the results will amaze you. 8. On your journey, you will meet people who will appreciate you and support your goals in life; keep them with you. 9. Trust yourself whatever happens. Believe that you can make it and you can survive. It doesn’t matter what other people think, just continue reaching your dreams. Do it for yourself. 10. Free your mind from destructive thoughts. Feed your mind daily with truth. Focus. Live a positive life. Make a positive impact. 11. Coffee and music will become your best friends. 12. Create memories with people you love that will last forever. 13. If you want to grow, you must learn how and when to say “no.” 14. Slow things down. Enjoy every single moment. 15. There’s always a light at the end of every tunnel regardless of what road you’re taking. 16. Hurting yourself won’t stop the monsters from appearing under your bed. Killing yourself won’t lessen the pain you feel. Don’t waste your gift. Don’t waste the opportunity to live.
