closed starter for @ananoskov!
“Okay, okay, close your eyes! Seriously! No peekin’!” he ordered as he guided them down the corridor. Rick had gotten there superbly early to help Anastasia hide all the eggs for Luna, and he had personally hid the ones for her while she had went back into the bedroom to prepare the Easter basket for the girl, and after some persuasion, he had left the room to let Ana hide her own eggs for him. It almost felt just like family, even though they weren’t quite to spending the night terms yet- but they were getting there, he felt. Rick had been coming over more often in these past couple weeks, little by little, not wanting to go too much, too fast for the little girl, understanding and respecting how Anastasia wanted to deal with the situation and truly, he didn’t mind. Once they got there, it would all be worth it, and he figured that soon enough, he would have a spare key to Ana’s house as she did for his. However, they had managed to sort out the babysitter issue and they had gotten to have a couple nights to themselves, one being in a casino hotel after much convincing that Anastasia had a meaner poker face than he did and he was good at blackjack, figuring they could both have fun while raking up some cash to blow on whatever they felt like before they had gone shopping for Easter chocolate. That, and another night spent at his house the next time she got the chance. It would be a relief to finally sleep over with her, be able to wake up to her every day. They had been seeing each other about half the week before Eamon had left town and he figured that it wouldn’t be a massive change- and within the next week, they would be learning of the results from the District Attorney’s office about her divorce in question that was currently being reviewed. Soon enough, they would move forward and his life might feel almost what he might describe as normal, and what she could almost describe as normal. Both of them had led lives that were very far from normal, but together, they could finally have something. A simple life. As he reached the kitchen table, he removed his hands from her eyes and gestured to the little basket on the table beside Luna’s with a little card with Anastasia’s name on it, grinning. “I figured it’s gettin’ close to our nine months, since Easter kinda falls on the first this year and ours is th’ ninth and I d’no if we’ll get t’ go out then an’- y’know. Happy Easter and early anniversary and whatnot.” The basket had a framed photograph of the two of them together when they had been at the carnival, and a small heart-shaped box, prompting her to open it. “I’m not proposin’, I swear,” he said quickly when she saw the ring and gave a little laugh, smiling warmly before shrugging his shoulders slightly and nodding toward it, “Ya mentioned, a while ago, ya liked this one ring ya had in Russia an’ ya lost it, an’ I stumbled across somethin’ similar- tried t’ dig it up off eBay somewhere or whatever ‘cause… I know ya miss home. Besides, boyfriends sometimes do that whole promise ring shit, right?” Scratching the back of his head as he spoke, he smiled again, adding softly, “My words don’t mean too much, but I don’t plan on goin’ anywhere. However, I do promise that I meant it just as much as you did- when ya said that we were made for each other.” Clapping his hands down to his sides again, he tilted his head toward the living room and said, “Purple eggs are yours, by th’ way. I think pink is Luna’s. I think I’m green. I can’t keep track.”
Ana couldn’t help but giggle with Luna when they stepped out of the bedroom and were forced to close their eyes and wait patiently for the male to actually come in front of them and guide them. Luna was laughing because she was giddy and excited to know what the surprise was, and Ana was simply laughing because of the excitement that the two had and how contagious that was. “Okay, slowly,” the girl said as she followed the petite girl, hands on her shoulders and led her to what she knew was the kitchen. Frankly, she assumed that their kitchen table would be filled with chocolate because Rick had gone overboard, but never would she have imagined what was present when her eyes were opened and she saw the contents of the table. The little girl gasped, mesmerized by the chocolate, only to point out the picture first. A small smile framed Ana’s lips then, making her move towards the male and circle her arms around him. Of course he was thoughtful and would think of these kinds of things, reminding her how she needed to step up her game and remind him just how much he meant to her, though she attempted to remind him of that as much as possible in the safety and privacy of their bedroom. Hopefully he knew. Pausing for a moment when she realized the extend he’d done and how far he’d gone for something she’d mentioned offhandedly, the brunette was stunned. “What?” she asked softly, holding the case of the ring gently before feeling her eyes well up. It was probably the nicest thing someone had one for her, especially since this was a ring that meant more to her than most knew with the entire fuckery that had happened between herself and her family, which ended with the impossibility of returning home. “I can’t believe you did all of this,” the girl said after she’d slid the ring on her finger, leaning forward to press her lips to his once more. Though she needed to thank him more, her words were stolen away by the tug of her shirt as the little girl asked if she could open her eggs. Of course she had forgotten about Luna and how patiently she was waiting for the go-ahead. “Of course,” the brunette said with a little laugh as she moved to the table and sat down beside the little girl, winking at the male when they eyed the eggs and the colours. “If not, we’ll all just switch or put in the same bucket and share.”

“Are ya serious or yankin’ my chain?” His eyes narrowed slightly and he gave her a look when she laughed at him in response to his confession, though he doubted her own family had ever been much of celebratory type themselves. Nevertheless, he wouldn’t really be opposed to the idea. He had never celebrated holidays as a child and he had never celebrated them as an adult, either because he was in the military or high out of his mind. In fact, the only holiday he had ever really celebrated as an adult was New Year’s, but only because he had generally attended parties to partake in the festivities. Those were the extent of his holiday-going experiences and his first December in Seagrove had been his very first Christmas. In fact, he had even gotten Anastasia a gift, as they had been exchanging words of affection and feelings for each other had, by then, become undeniably strong. It had only felt right to buy her a gift and it only felt even more so when she had lit up as she had unwrapped it in front of his eyes and he hoped that was something that could continue to occur for years to come. With any luck, they would be moving forward both after her divorce had processed through and after Luna had adjusted to his presence. To where, he wasn’t quite sure but he was excited to find out. “I do know your favorite chocolate and I wouldn’t be opposed to hiding them in easy-to-reach places so ya aren’t strugglin’ t’ reach them. Maybe we could buy bags of the plastic eggs in different colors, assign a color t’ each person so we don’t get ‘em confused. Is that a good idea at all…?” He trailed off for a moment, frowning, looking uncertain and shuffling a little anxiously, bashfully turning his eyes to his hands before grinning again and continuing, “But if we’re playin’ Easter, ya gotta do it right. I’m hidin’ thirty-two eggs for you. That’s how old ya are, that’s how much chocolate ya get. Thirty for me an’…” Squinting one eye shut as he considered the game and pictured it in his head, he pursed his lips together before ultimately declaring, “Thirty-four for Luna, ‘cause she’s more special than both of us combined.” Already, she felt- well… He couldn’t say that yet, but he was sure that he would be able to see Luna as if she were his own daughter, as if she were his own child, without an issue. He may never replace Eamon and had no intentions to. If she did start calling him ‘daddy’ anyway, he figured he might die inside, and Eamon might come down from Ireland to kick his ass personally. After all, he was looking forward to having a normal life, or some semblance of it. Two people so damaged as they were would never fully have a normal life, but they could get as close as possible, slowly but surely, and he would catch her if she needed it, pick up the pieces for her and make her feel loved and as if she was enough and he trusted she would do the same for him and help him any way that she could, to keep the both of them on the right track.
Smirking when she curled her arms around his neck, he nodded slowly and returned her kiss in kind, brushing her hair behind her ear as he did so and nipping her lower lip playfully when she pulled away, replying in somewhat shaky Russian, “Ya lyublyu tebya. Way ahead of ya. Now it’s your turn, my love. I knew a Russian guy in th’ army, I’m partially fluent. I ain’t done surprisin’ you yet.” However, her story did make him laugh, able to picture it in his head far too well. It wasn’t difficult at all. At that age, children were able to repeat everything like parrots, which is why he was making sure to watch his tongue tonight- and not to smoke. Not that he ever smoked in his own house anyway, but he digressed, covering all his bases. Her grin and the wiggle of her brow had him smiling slowly, knowing she was often still worried he would return to bad habits of pushing people away, murmuring with a shake of his head, “Nope. I’m stayin’ still. Promise.” Crossing his hand over his heart, his expression then softened when she grabbed and held onto his hand, taking a deep breath. “I think I need to,” he said finally, puffing out his cheeks, “I need closure, maybe. But I can definitely arrange a hotel room if that’ll keep your mind on me, but you should be thinkin’ about me anyway, I’m th’ best damn thing ever. Fine, how does Friday sound, the usual? I’ll pick ya up at the Balcony like I usually do?” His self-confidence, of course, was fake in itself, nothing more than a mask to hide his own insecurities, smirking and pecking her lips briefly when her arms wrapped around him again, squeezing her waist. Her question made him sober up, nodding again. “Of course I understand,” he confirmed gently, “I wouldn’t have it any other way. Well, I would, but ya know what I mean. I’d be a crappy boyfriend if I didn’t understand, I think. Not that I’m a great boyfriend. We’re doin’ it the right way. Slow an’ steady wins th’ race. Before we know it, I’ll have a spare key or somethin’.” He wasn’t about to jump to moving in any time soon, although it was a nice thought. “I was thinkin’ we had fun at th’ rink last time… Maybe once Luna and I get t’ know each other better we can take her with us? I had fun couples skatin’ with ya, I’d like to do it again. I can hold her hand while we skate, if you want.” His words were soft and cautious, pulling her in close and resting his chin atop her head, folding his arms around her, breathing in her scent. “By th’ way, ya left a bunch of crap in my drawer at my house. Soon as I start spendin’ nights, I hope ya know I’m gettin’ revenge by leavin’ crap in your drawers. Maybe a couple hoodies. Ya stole my black hoodie with the blue moon on it from our trip t’ Jupiter. Someone either loves me very much or loves ransackin’ my house. You look cute in it, though.”
“I’m always yanking your chain,” the brunette said with a little laugh as she playfully tugged on the male’s collar, if only to bring him down slightly so she could reach her lips. They had a good foot between the two of them, if not more, which prevented her from stealing a kiss with much stealth. In fact, she always had to beg for a kiss by leaning up on her toes and hoping that he would agree and meet her half way. Nonetheless, she managed to do so by manhandling him a little bit. “I think that’s a good idea, but chances are, Luna’s chocolates will be ours in the end since she hasn’t ever been a big chocolate girl, and also because I just don’t want her to eat that much. So more for us.” The girl said with a grin, knowing that she wouldn’t be able to do that for long, but when she could, she’d take advantage of having a little kid who didn’t care much about sweets. “But as long as you hide them not that high, because I’m not twenty anymore, I can’t just climb everything to get to them.” The woman teased before she turned around quickly to stir the pot she’d left on the oven, though she’d brought it down, she didn’t want the bottom of her sauce to burn. “Woah, how many chocolate are you expecting to buy for us? The last thing we need is to get diabetes from one day!” Ana told him with wide eyes since that seemed like a lot. “Those small chocolates maybe but not big eggs filled with chocolate, that’s too much. I was going to hide like ten each!” She whined sligllty before laughing since she didn’t want to seem like she was going to manage this day of his, but that was still a lot of money in chocolate.
“That’s true, I’ve heard you whisper a few thing that have caught me by surprise but nothing is better than that accent of yours.” Ana said with a wiggle of her brows since many people were slightly taken aback by a Russian accent and how rough it sounded, but she felt like it was the best and most beautiful language in the world. Especially when someone attempted to speak it and that just made her smile. It was always much more cuter, and it kind of helped when it was her man doing it and saying things to her. However, at the mention of the hotel, the brunette rose her brow and snorted slightly. “Someone’s getting a little cocky. I thought you were going to say that I should always be thinking about you because you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.” The girl said with a little grin on her face. It was cute of him to have that much confidence, especially since he wasn’t wrong at all about any of it. The brunette would always focus on him when they were together. “And friday sounds perfect,” the girl assured him. Frankly, Ana couldn’t imagine how lucky she’d been now that she had a man who understood everything and allowed her the time she needed to sort everything out with her daughter and the fact that her daughter’s father had been gone. It was nice to know that she could count on him to allow her that grace period since she knew not many people would have been as gracious about it. Honestly, she couldn’t imagine what she’d ever done to deserve him, but mostly, she was happy that Luna had someone like that in her life. “That’s really nice of you, babe. And I think that would be great.” It was all great plans altogether as she hoped for nothing more than her daughter to get to know and love Rick as much as she did, which she knew she would with time. “As for the clothes, I’m always down to have a little more here, especially some hoodies when it gets chilly in here. I kind of live in yours that i took, but damn right, I look cute. Is there anything I don’t look cute in?” She asked with a teasing grin.

Rick: anyway, yeah, of course, do ya want me to give you her number? i know she used to babysit her for Eamon so i think she's familiar with her. it's been a while though.
Rick: yeah, i know.
Rick: speakin' of, i was thinkin' when we go out this weekend maybe we could pick up th' eggs for the Easter hunt? and we can get anythin' else ya need if you need to go shoppin' or... if i need t' go shoppin', i kinda don't know what's in my fridge sometimes. [snorts]
Rick: hey... i love you.

Ana: I'll be there.
Ana: That's right, you don't owe them anything. You shoulnd't have to do that.
Ana: That's good, you don't have to go back there and now you're coming home. You'll be here soon.
Ana: Oh okay, that's why the name sounded familiar. I think Iv'e met her before, but yeah, I'd love her number.
Ana: That works, then we won't have Luna with us so it'll be easier to keep it from her and really surprise her. I like that.

rick-dahlstrom:
“I’m definitely your go-to guy for hidin’ stuff in higher places.” His statement was punctuated with a wink in her direction- he was fairly tall for a man, and practically all legs more than torso, but so be it. “I never had Easter growin’ up so… it’ll be fun. It’ll be like my first Easter.” His words were soft and genuine, his eyes falling on her face and offering her a smile, knowing that they must surely have the same idea in mind, given that she had agreed with him. Just a few months before, he would have never dreamed that they would ever be able to be anything more than what they were and he would always remain an outsider in that equation. Yet, here he was now, in their slow and sure process of them becoming a family to one another. Him, becoming a part of hers, mostly. It would take time and it wouldn’t be too quick, as her daughter needed time to adjust, but he hoped that it would go well. He had planned to take it slowly in terms of how often he visited, for the time-being, to slowly become more of a part of the household and they would see where they went for there, what she wanted to do with that and where she wanted to go. Once the divorce had been settled and processed and Luna was more than adjusted to his presence, they could have a talk of what came next. To have a family would be a strange concept for a man who never had anyone, but it was one that he was willing to get used to in time and he knew what was blossoming here could only be the start of something beautiful. However, her reaction to his suggestion by scrunching up her nose had him anxious for a moment, fearing he had made the wrong move, and bit his lower lip, fidgeting with his hands but not turning his eyes away. That alone had been a big step for him- Rick rarely looked people in the eyes, let alone when he was nervous, yet he remained steadfast as he studied her face and he formed a smile in her direction, his shoulders relaxing when she agreed. “I just figure th’ more time I get t’ spend with her, the better,” he offered up as an explanation, nodding his agreement before verbally replying, “That sounds perfect. I’ll see what I can come up with and we’ll talk about it. Maybe you can wear that pretty red slip dress I love so much?” Sending a wink in her direction and a tiny smirk, he chuckled to himself, knowing it had been some time since they had a moment alone together and texts from her had indicated enough that she had missed him. He was glad that she had chosen to compromise with him, though, deeming that was an important and very healthy aspect in their relationship. “Kalops,” he repeated with a little grin forming on his own face, mirroring hers, brushing his fingers through her hair and returning her kiss, the words she spoke filling him with life, a gentle reminder to him and three little words that still made his heart beat fast, murmuring in turn, “I love you too. I’ll love you more if ya start learnin’ Swedish.” The joke was sly and last-minute, snickering as he pulled away before their conversation had quickly sobered. The way she sat down had him raising his brow, analyzing her expression and murmuring teasingly, “I ain’t breakin’ up with ya that easy, Anastasia. I got this far, I ain’t backin’ out now.” Perhaps a gentle reminder that he was in this for the long-run. Scratching the back of his head and shrugging his shoulders when she apologized as she had before, he only shook his head. They had spoken about it briefly and he had said he didn’t know how to feel- because he didn’t. He had been raised in an abusive household with unloving parents who held nothing but malice toward him, and he hardly knew what to expect and he knew it must be worrying that he was going home to see them. Nodding his head, appreciating the thought to make it clear she would practically follow him to the ends of the damn earth if he needed her to, he said softly, “Okay, I will. I just know I’ll be by myself and Stockholm is where-” Gesturing his hands vaguely, not wanting to outright say drugs in the middle of her house right at that moment in time, he then finished, “All that happened.” Leaning forward to kiss her on the cheek, he said quietly, “Didn’t mean t’ scare ya.” Squeezing her shoulder, he moved around the kitchen and took the plates out of the cupboard. He had been over on occasion enough when Luna hadn’t been around that he had begun to know where everything was, beginning to set the table for the three of them. “I mighta brought ya a taste of home too, y’know, so there’s plenty extra for ya. I was just thinkin’ you’ll miss my handsome face even more since I’ll be gone a few days.” Looking over at her and pouting his lower lip, he teased, “Hope ya don’t find a hotter new boyfriend while I’m gone.” Once he had finished setting the table up, he moved toward her and rested his hands on her waist, pressing his lips to hers again, brushing his fingers across her cheek, breathing, “Can we do somethin’ together one day after I get back? Just you an’ me. I’d like somethin’ t’ take my mind off everythin’. And I miss you. A lot. Don’t get me wrong, I’m fine with takin’ everything slow, I understand. I just miss ya. You know I love ya and I’m gonna love wakin’ up to your hair in my face again one of these days. You’re kinda my soulmate.”
Ana couldn’t help but laugh and aw when the male told her that it would be his first easter. Though she had done it multiple years with the little girl, she realized that she’d never actually done so when she was a little girl. It was only when she moved to Ireland that she realized people actually did some joyous activities together to celebrate. That had been an adjustment that she wanted to give to her daughter. “I never did it when I was a kid either. I think we should both hide some for each other and then give each other a little experience we never had before. Why should the kid have all the fun?” The brunette said with a little laugh and a wiggle of her brow. After all, they both had some pretty dysfunctional experience when it came to growing up and the family they were given. In fact, she was certain they’d both missed out on a lot, and no one could blame them for wanting to experience things that most people didn’t realize could be a priviledge to people like the pair of broken people who’d somehow found one another and managed to mend their shattered edges with the help of the other. Ana had been broken for a long time now, mostly by her own hand, and finally, she met someone who made her feel whole. Not because he wanted to fix her, but because he accepted her. After all, Ana never wanted forgiveness or someone who would hold her hand. All she wanted was for someone to understand the things she did, to know that she was sorry for them, and to allow her to wallow in her own self-guilt from time to time. Who would be there for her when she came out of that hole licking her wounds. Much like she would do for him whenever he fell down. She would be there to catch and mend him back towards the healthier and happier road he’d found prior to meeting her. They both had their own baggage, but together, it would be a little less heavy to carry. “That’s okay and I can certainly wear that little dress for you, whenever you want.” She said with a grin on her face as she circled her arms around the male and pressed her lips to his. As she pulled back, the girl couldn’t help but roll her eyes at the male. “I’ll only learn it if you learn some Russian. It’s hard enough trying to teach her, or actually, trying to get her not to repeat everything that I say. Luckily, not many people can understand what she’s muttering everyday because most often then not, it’s a string of Russian curses she heard me yelling.” The girl said with a shake of her head, hoping that Luna would soon move on from the phase where she was a sponge and would just absorb everything that she said. The sooner, the better. Her brow wiggled at him and a grin spread on her lips when the male told her that he wasn’t so willing to break up with her so soon. “Good, just checking if the old habits haven’t snuck up on us.” The brunette winked at him, pausing for a moment to listen when he mentioned how he would be returning to where it had all happened. A part of her had wondered if it was the same place, but he had confirmed it on his own. Her head nodded in understanding before it shifted to a shake of her head. “I’m not scared. I just don’t want you to do anything that you don’t want to do.” She told him, grasping his hand and squeezing it slightly. Even though it felt like he had to go, Ana was certain that he could find a way not to go. He shouldn’t feel guilty about it. “Of course we can do something and I don’t think I’m going to find someone more handsome, you’ll just have to find ways to keep my interest while you’re gone, or to do something very special before you leave so I’m just thinking about you. Potentially in a hotel room the two of us,” her brow wiggled once more as her arms wrapped around the male. “Of course we can. I know it’s tough. It’s just for now, but we’re almost there. I don’t want to rush anything with Luna. It’s all still new and with Eamon gone. I don’t want to confuse her. You understand, right?”
rick-dahlstrom:
Ana’s smile was indicative enough of her approval for his own heart to swell, happy that he could please someone with his own choice for a peace offering for her child. Anything that would get him to pass with flying colors tonight was exactly what he wanted. Anything that would prove to her that he could be the material she was looking for was what he wanted to be for her; even if he couldn’t entirely step into those shoes, he certainly wanted to try his best and one of his strengths was adapting to new environments and new obstacles. And in that way, a child would not be so different. As he gained her approval along with a laugh and a smile, he relaxed and returned her smile, nodding his head and saying softly, “Good, ‘cause I never got to do th’ whole Easter thing as a kid. It’d be nice t’ celebrate it for once. I don’t care how early I have to get here to help ya hide ‘em, I’ll do whatever ya like.” That being said, she already knew that his sleep schedule was screwed six ways to Sunday and he was up at dawn every day so getting over in time to help her out with hiding some eggs wouldn’t be a problem for him at all. All that mattered to him right now was making a good impression on her when it came to children, even if she already knew that he was great with children. Whatever he could do to convince her he would be a perfect addition to her daughter’s life, and a safe addition, was what he was looking for, which only made him all the more relieved that his therapist had given the two of them the greenlight when she had gone over Rick’s files for Anastasia. Ana had been so patient and understanding with it and full of questions that he had never felt more cared about or seen in his entire fucking life that he could recall. She cared enough to get a better grasp on what she would be dealing with, and it was especially necessary now that Eamon was no longer around for her to pass her daughter off to. It was good to know where they stood and what Ana could do for him when he needed it most, rather than leaving her feeling lost as she often had when she had tried months ago to understand how to get close to him, how to keep him from pushing her away. Now she would know for certain what to do in certain instances that the therapist deemed as still relevant to his current mental status, and given her notes on it in case she wanted to keep them, as well as jotted down a few tips just in case he ever found himself in that position again. Those situations in question were ones they had discussed on the night of their confessions and he was still fairly certain he would be avoiding them for the time being. Her grin was all he needed as reassurance, though the hidden kiss they shared helped, smiling to himself and looking down bashfully. “Consider it done, mamacita, I’ll think of somethin’, I got a whole month. It’ll be somethin’ real special. Maybe we could do all three of us. We’ll see.” The suggestion was tentative, not wanting to get ahead of himself, unsure of what her plan was for it quite yet, watching her daughter wander away to go back to playing. Getting to his feet along with her, he followed after her into the kitchen with that slight limp remaining in his gait, settling against the counter and giving her a look of curiosity. Of course, he hadn’t been able to smell it walking in the door- trauma from the army had made him rather ansomniac, and what little he could smell was muted. Perking up as she lifted the lid, he grinned, eagerly inquiring, “Kalops? Holy- Wow. Wow, ya don’t even know how much I love ya right now.” Luckily, with her daughter in the next room over, she wouldn’t hear them so he leaned forward and pressed a slow kiss to her lips that they hadn’t gotten to exchange at the door, knowing another would be to come when she said goodbye to him that evening. However, the thought of a dish from home had him reminded quickly of what would be coming next week, his face falling then and puffing out his cheeks. “We need t’ talk,” he said quietly, settling against the counter and furrowing his brow. “I gotta go back home next week,” he said slowly, quickly adding, “It’s only for a few days. I leave Tuesday… come back Friday. I figure that won’t be too much of a problem since we’re goin’ slower with… Luna an’ without Eamon, you’re not over as much, I just- I haven’t had a moment t’ stop and say somethin’ with everythin’ goin’ on and it’s been nuts and I didn’t know if I was going and…” Feeling as if he was rambling, his eyes wandered away, shrugging his shoulders and murmuring, “I told ya my pops was sick and I guess it’s time I head home, I feel like I have to, y’know? I d’no. An’ then I was thinkin’ if tonight goes well, maybe I can come over again next Monday, we’ll ease into it. Maybe a day or two a week for a couple weeks, try bein’ more regular if it’s goin’ well? What’s our game plan?” He knew he was skirting around the topic as quickly as possible, but he didn’t know how to feel about going to see his father, his eyes lowering to his feet, murmuring, “Is it okay if I call ya when I’m back in Sweden? I don’t…” Pausing, his tongue ran over his lower lip, sighing and taking her hand in both of his, running his thumb over her knuckles. “I don’t want to be alone.”
Ana wasn’t quite worried about Rick around her daughter, but it was more about the way her daughter would take the male and the questions that would soon arise. Frankly, she was dreading the whole discussion in fear that her daughter would demand her not to see another person, or just put the pieces together. After all, she was smarter than she looked and understood a lot more than she let on. However, Ana would do her best to take it slow and prepare her daughter for what was to come, because after all, Rick made her happy. Happier than she’d ever been in fact. He was stable and someone she could depend on, which wasn’t something she’d had for the longest time. While their conversation about their negatives had been a big step for the pair in terms of relationships, this was even more significant now that he’d met her daughter which seemed to approve of him for the time being. “Good because I’m going to need help. She keeps finding them a little too easily and it’s because I’m either too short to get them up high or I’m just not creative anymore and keep going for the same hid=ding spots.” Ana said with a little laugh, having done this with her daughter since she could walk. Even if she didn’t understand the concept, nothing would stop the brunette from walking her to each and every spot where she’d hidden some chocolate. It would be nice to have a third party involved, if only to take some pictures and start new memories with. Slowly but surely they would begin to feel like some kind of family and Luna wouldn’t remember what it was like without the male, but who was thinking more ahead now. Ana immediately pushed that thought away in fear that she was either getting her hopes up or just thinking too much about everything. Her brow raised momentarily when the male told her that he would be the one to make some kind of celebration for the two of them when her divorce finally came through. It was a good though, however, she scrunched her nose at the mention of Luna being there. While she loved the idea of her daughter being apart of any of their celebrations, this seemed to be a little more personal. Also, she just was looking forward to having a night alone with him, especially since they hadn’t gotten much chances of doing that since Eamon left. Babysitters were harder to keep then anything else these days. Either they were busy or just lost interest in the concept of staying in during the weekend when most people wanted to go out. “Maybe we can do something wit her in the day and then do something only the two of us at night.” she added, coming to a good middle. A grin spread across her lips when he mentioned the dish she hadn’t even bothered to say in fear of screwing up the name, though she nodded her head in confirmation when he got what she was making. “That’s it,” she said with a grin as she leaned forward and pressed her lips to his. “I love you,” the brunette took some seconds to murmur against his lips. However, soon enough, the moment of content came and left as it was replaced with something of fear when the male told her they needed to talk. Slowly, she sat down and listened to him. Thankfully, he wasn’t breaking up with her, but unfortunately, he was about to go through something rather difficult. “I’m sorry, Rick,” she echoed against as she had that first night when he told her about his father. It would be hard, especially returning to that place. “Of course you can call me. I would go with you if I knew I had someone to watch Luna,” she told him as she knew she would have taken the time off and gone without thinking twice in order to support him.

addison: all my clothes have spit up on them and my washer is broken
addison: kill me. kill me now.
Ana: why the fuck do you have spit on your clothes?
☎ - Anastasia
Maddie: I don't really think there's anything to say to that
Maddie: Maybe just promise me you won't tell anyone
Ana: who would i tell exactly?

From the moment that they had begun to get into talks of the activities the three of them would do together and Rick had made it clear from the beginning he had no intention of intruding on Eamon’s place as the father of her child. With Eamon gone now, though, the nature of that might change slightly. While he still had no intentions of replacing Eamon, he wanted to be there for her little girl as much as possible, and he had made that clear to from the very second she had talked to him about it. He wanted her to know that she could depend on him to be an active part of her daughter’s life- whatever she would need, he would be there in a heartbeat when Eamon could not be and was not available on a phone call. A boy needs his father, he remembered telling his ex-girlfriend when she had spoken about her own five year-old son who had not been in her care at the time, echoing his own feelings about it. Speaking of, he had yet to address the matter of the fact he would be departing to Stockholm for a few days within the next week to be there as his father departed the existential plane and into the next, whatever the next may be. There had been so much going on, he hadn’t a moment to bring it up and he figured he wouldn’t tonight, unless Luna left the room at some point long enough for him to address it, knowing it would be better that way. Hell, he probably even shouldn’t have brought up divorce, which had him on edge, but it had been absentminded. He really needed to watch himself tonight, remain on his best behavior, nervous to make a good impression. Regardless, he was sure that Anastasia didn’t feel too fondly toward his parents from what he had told her of his past and he was damn sure that she didn’t after their therapist session together where his psychiatrist had gone through all the potential issues that had stemmed from his deeply deprived childhood. The list had been so Goddamn long he had expected Ana to bolt out the door. Luckily, his therapist had explained what would be an issue better than he ever could. For the most part, his issues lay with both abandonment and the worry of faithfulness of another. Always left or neglected by those he cared about, along with being cheated on, it had become a deep-seated fear and though Ana had eased it, it would still require some adjustment period of his own that he was working on. Still, her reassurance helped and he was sure she would be there for him when he did have to leave, but there would be a promise of his quick return. It was humorous that the little girl had been inching closer to him this entire time he had been speaking with her, watching her out of the corner of his eyes and waving the bunny enticingly. “Only one, I promise,” he said with a nod of his head, “But if you’re only allowin’ me one, I gotta set up an Easter egg hunt for her. No ifs, ands, or buts. A girl has to have some chocolate in her life. Besides, this bunny is special. She should have it.”
Falling silent and focusing his attention on her as she nodded her head in response to his question, he smiled at her and nodded slowly. He could tell that she wasn’t entirely comfortable with it, so he would allow it to drop and ask her any other questions he had in private later, yet when she began to talk about it, he gave her his full attention, not wanting to miss a moment, absorbing it. When he was focused on her, that was all that mattered, although half his attention remained on Luna, not wanting her to feel ignored as his parents had made him feel, his gaze occasionally breaking from her to offer small smiles to the girl while she edged closer. While they were in no rush for talks of marriage, or even the possibility of it, it was good to know the door would be opening if it came to that, something he very much found himself hoping for. However, he wouldn’t be jumping the gun anytime soon. What was important now was the steps they would be taking for the girl to grow accustomed to him, and from there transitioning slowly into him spending nights at her house instead and in the presence of her daughter, a change he wouldn’t mind at all. It was what he had been waiting for, after all, and if she found a babysitter for when she wanted a weekend or a day at his house, he didn’t mind that either. Eamon leaving meant that they wouldn’t have nights to spend together for a while until they transitioned, unless she found a suitable sitter, but that was alright with him. He was patient. It was a big step and it meant they were serious, taking steps forward instead of his previous steps back in the now distant past. His head perking up then, he looked up and met her eyes, raising his eyebrows and splitting a grin. “Really? Wow, that’s quick- means ya got a strong case. Sounds like it’ll go over just fine, and when it does, we’ll celebrate some more. That’s a promise.” And he was happy to hear it. Happy she answered his questions at all in the presence of her daughter, finding it comforting that her own anxiety seemed soothed by just his presence. Stepping closer, he smirked in response to her, wiggling his brows and purring, “Just lemme know and we’ll have lil’ celebration party at mine.” His purr was suggestive enough for her to catch the thoughts he had in mind, leaning in close and pressing a kiss to her cheek. After all, it had been a quick minute since they’d had any time to be intimate and even if it was just snuggling her in bed rather than sex, he would have been content. “Seriously, ya left too much Merlot at my place. I gotta do somethin’ with it, I can’t drink it all by myself. But let me know what happens, like, what they tell ya in the letter, okay? We’re gonna have t’ do some serious celebratin’ either way. But seriously, let me know.”
His attention diverted to her child then as he settled on the floor, he smiled as he thought she was so damn shy compared to both her parents and their strong attitudes. She would grow into it, sure enough. Her response only made him grin, pleased with himself and that he had made the right choice to have his childhood toy fixed up. It needed a new home anyway. It was even more adorable that her voice was not much more than a whisper, his grin only spreading further across his face, chuckling and his eyes lighting up with happiness. “Good, he needs it,” he murmured, “He’s had it rough.” Scooting forward when she stepped forward, meeting her in the middle, smiling fondly as she hugged the stuffed bunny, reaching out to touch the bunny’s nose. “His name is Bugs,” he replied softly, “Like Bugs Bunny. That was my thing as a kid, I liked that show. We didn’t really have television so I had to watch it at a friend’s, isn’t that crazy? No television at all.” Sighing to himself, he met her eyes, before looking back to the bunny in her arms and fondly stroking its ear, murmuring, “But… I promise he’s a real special bunny, even more special than all those other stuffed animals ya got. You know why? Cause whenever ya need somebody to hug and your mama’s not around, he’s gonna be there. And he’ll always be right here too,” punctuating his sentence by gently pressing his index finger against her heart, dropping his hands respectfully then. “He’ll love ya always. No matter what. He was there for me when nobody else was. He’s got your back too now.” Damn, she already stole his heart. His smile not leaving his face, he glanced at Ana and inquired softly, “What’s cookin’ for dinner, pretty mama?”
Ana couldn’t help the beaming smile on her face when he recounted the story of the bunny and how important it was for him to have Luna have something that was once so important to him. Also, the way her daughter clutched at the animal and hugged it tight to her chest. If her heart could have exploded in that instant, it would have a thousand times over. “Okay, I have nothing against that.” She said with a little laugh since that had always been a tradition of theirs. It was important for her daughter to live as normal as a life she could and that meant getting up at the crack of dawn to hide some chocolate all over the place and then having to deal with a toddler who was hyped up on sugar for one day, though she was sure to cut all sweets for the next two months just to ween her body off of the sugar rush. It would be nice to have someone to help her though and to share those special moments with. Which she had in the past, but now it would be someone that was present and would cherish them as much as she did. “I’m okay with all of that.” She grinned at him before pressing a hidden kiss to his lips. As of right now, Rick was her friend until the little girl adjusted to his presence and then they would have the talk about her being in a relationship with him and how the male would never take her father’s place, but would just be another figure for her to depend on. As she was reminded of the divorce papers, she shrugged her shoulder. Frankly, she hadn’t put much thought into it apart from rushing to get all the papers done. It was easy given that she’d decided it and there was nothing to be said about it. After all, she was in a new relationship and more than willing to move on from her past in a positive way. Everything that would come after was new beginnings and she couldn’t be happier about it. When it would all be done and said, they would go celebrate and she would be ready to flash her new relationship without guilt. At least then she wouldn’t be a married women stepping out on her husband even if that hadn’t ever been the case. Her other half, or ex-half, had split them up a long time ago, they just hadn’t ever gotten the chance to get their marriage annulled before they found themselves in others beds. Now, she could see nothing but new memories and new traditions to be had, that incorporated both their upbringings. It was an exciting thought, especially that Luna seemed to already be warming up to the male that was so welcoming and familiar with the little girl. It was as if he’d known her, and with how much she spoke of her daughter, he practically did, she was sure of it. “You can bring me anywhere you want to celebrate, anything you want to do. I’m happy to do it as long as we do something.”
Ana knelt down behind the little girl who looked down at the bunny and smiled as she listened intently to the male as he spoke. She had a few teddy bears but nothing that she’d gotten too attached too which always made her feel that her daughter was a little more strong ( though she was aware that was probably something each parent thought about their child ) because she had never hidden behind a security teddy or blanket. However, she could see the initial love for the stuffed animal. After all, she had always been the one to get closest to the most tatted and broken animal, which was only normal for her to love this used bunny. “I will be there for him too,” she said softly, hugging the little bunny in her arms. Soon enough, she walked over to her other toys and proceeded to sit the bunny down at the table for a tea party while Ana and Rick rose. Ana was reminded of dinner and then smiled as she walked to the kitchen. “I have a stew on the go. Something from home and I made that one thing you’ve been wanting to make but couldn’t find the right ingredient for.” She told him, showing him the pot as it was something from his home that they’d been wanting to have for a while now.
