Did you also know that....oh I don't... NOT ALL SLAVES IN AMERICA WERE BLACK! Shit like this pisses me off. For starters, the slaves that were received from Africa were SOLD BY THEIR OWN PEOPLE. Second thing would be that there was black, white, latina, and asian slaves. None of them got those benefits either. So if you want to preach something about slavery in America, remember two things: One, not all slaves were black, and two, Africa enslaved many more of their own people than America did before it abolished slavery.

The intro cards for Futurama have always been one of my favorite parts of the show because people always talk about the old Simpson’s couch gag but this is just pure gold… I mean-

6 years later and avatar (the james cameron movie) is still completely incomprehensible to me. like you’ve got the highest grossing film in recent history and no one actually enjoyed it beyond “eh. it was okay”

Avatar is such a weird anomaly. It’s the highest grossing film EVER (not adjusting for inflation) by a huge margin and yet it left virtually no footprint on popular culture. It had its 15 minutes of fame to the tune of $2.7 billion dollars worldwide, and within a few years it’s like no one remembers it even existed. You only ever really see it mentioned these days in the context of its record-breaking box office.
