ancientandwise:
“it does.” He said bluntly, “it matters to me, and so long as the species is indeed continued it shouldn’t matter how much time we choose to spend getting ready.” His arms remained folded on his chest, “She’s living what life she can before having to become a mother. Leave her be, she will eventually come around.” He said cooly trying not to get nippy-but kan always had a way of getting under his skin, and this talk of his fiance like she were a mere breeder wasn’t helping his spoiling mood.
“sorry to burst your bubble Your highness, but some people actually enjoy children and want to help them grow, and find themselves.” He scowled at her when she brought up his job, and he leaned back in his seat, “I’ll make the time needed to be the father my children need. That’s what good parents do.”
His glare remained and widened slightly at the suggestion of finding someone else to take his place. With a slow breath he leaned back in his seat, not even glancing at the fallen pencils. “You always know just how to piss me off.” He snapped, standing from his seat and sending the bulky leather roller wabbling backwards. “I’ll tell you this just once. I will not stand to be replaced.” His fangs lengthened as he his growled. “I’ve fought long and hard for this city, and I’ve more then earned my place at her side. If you even try to bring someone else in, I will shred them to bits before they can even get aquainted.”
“And yet, there hasn’t been any new purebloods in years, at least ones that haven’t survived to birth” she huffed, shaking her head at the thought and how useless Andie had been with her pregnancies. “Please, you know if she’s given her own way she won’t do anything ever. You need to actually be her fiance and tell her what to do” she hissed. “Why on Earth would anyone want that? They’re disgusting and needy…You would have to put everything on hold to parent it. Especially this work.” she said, gesturing to the papers all over his desk. “I guarantee the novelty wears off after a few days, you’ll be dumping it on a nanny in no time” she waved off. Kanopia perked when Busani began to get angry with her once again. “And just what would you do about it, Busani?” she wondered, slowly rising from her own spot, her eyes changing in color. “That almost sounds like you’re challenging me, the princess needs someone who can get the job done, I don’t even care if she likes him- if anything it’d probably amuse me more knowing that she’s miserable. Look at you, you’ve gotten sentimental over her….Pathetic” she sighed, shaking her head at him, giving a show of her own fangs.
"I am her fiance, not her father." He snapped, anger filling him at the mentions of the miscarriages. "Can you blame her? All her life she's heard nothing but that she needs to breed. To reproduce and have children. That that is all she is here for. Her parents show little to no interest in her or her interests as a whole what would you expect to happen?" He dropped his hand heavily on the desk top. "Why the hell do you think she is so afraid of starting a family?" He bared his fangs, "she doesn't want it to be like her own. I'm trying to ease her into the idea of it but her perseption of family is royally fucked because of how she was raised."
He scowled at her, teeth gritted tight. "I have no interest in getting into a marital debate with you." he held his tongue and mentioning her own relationship with her husband, knowing that that would probably be a step too far. "I'm telling you here and now I will kill anyone you bring in to try to replace me. I don't give a damn what you say, Andie is going to be my wife and we are going to decide together when we are ready for children."
His hands clenched, "I have, I love her and I will do whatever needs to be done to protect her and to keep her happy." His dark eyes shimmered with aggression. "I don't want my wife to live a life of regret, we live a long time and I want her to enjoy every moment of it. Call me pathetic all you want but thousands of years from now, we will still love each other and enjoy each other's company, we will have a family all our own and be living happily. Can you say the same your highness?"
