Annette was born into a family that never felt whole, or not as far as she can remember. Not that she didn’t think her parents loved her, well her mother at least, she never felt close to Tramp the same way that Scamp did. It wasn’t even just that but he always treated her a little worse. Of course she knew everyone would say she was just being overdramatic as she was known to be sometimes. She was a moody child, always seeing life as a half empty kind of way unlike the others. It wasn’t on purpose, though to her brother it meant she was a spoiled brat. He always made sure to remind her of it too. In reality, he was the sibling she looked up to the most. Scamp felt like the only other one that wasn’t entirely happy in the family. Maybe that’s why when he left she felt so much more pissed he didn’t even care enough to say goodbye. Sure he gave her a hard time but Annette thought he at least cared a little.
As hard as it is to accept she’s starting to realize that her family might just not feel like other families do, the divorce not effecting her as much as some of her siblings. In fact, Annette was happy it happened, finally seeing a different, better, happier, light in her mother’s eyes again. Tramp had never felt like her father anyway and the fighting with her mother drove her crazy. It wasn’t unlikely that she would say something when she could only to be told not to interfere by her mother. Annette struggled but for her mother the girl learned to bite her tongue. She was always the type to start a fight whether it be with Tramp, her siblings and even her mother sometimes during these years. A part of her was furious at her for not leaving the man she knew didn’t treat her right. That didn’t mean she wouldn’t sit in her room listening to music as loud as she could to drown it out. Music is one of the things that got her through the fighting years and the divorce offered for once, a silence. A happy silence.
The divorce was when she stopped picking fights with her mother. In fact, she kind of worried for her mother, spending more time with her than usual. School came easy to her and it always had so she used her free time to with Lilah. Annette was labeled a bit of a nerd before she even hit middle school, though by high school she started to grow into herself. These years high school years with her mother were how she learned things like how to do her makeup, how to pick out clothes for her body type, and it all drove Colette crazy. She hated when anything wasn’t about her and thrived off being the baby of the family. It served her right, according to Annette who had always thought she was the most rotten of the kids but no one would say it. As Colette always hated her a little after that, she could tell. Annette couldn’t stand her the most, Danielle was nice. Yeah, she liked Danielle, they were different but she was the best. Once she went to college Annette felt she grew into herself. School was hard but she enjoyed the challenge. Studying environmental engineering with a minor in horticulture. She loved school and with her mother’s help she was was able to have her own place. Annette helped with that she got from from working part time at Crophopper Farms.
Now that she’s gotten her degree she’s been promoted and is helping to grow crops the best way possible and how to yield different crops. Her dream is to one day be able to develop a better, more efficient way to produce crops to where they can feed more people without also being as environmentally friendly as possible. Right now she’s starting by learning about plant growing in a farm setting, Crophopper being the perfect fit. Annette is happier now, yeah, bu she can’t help the feeling she is missing something.
One of her hobbies includes collecting taxidermied bugs. Even as a child she was fascinated by bugs, being known to find them and bring them to show her mother.
She collects plants from places she’s been and press them into journals for her to remember, noting the date and a memory from the day. Plants are a way she feels grounded to life and hopeful as she watches something grow.
Its no wonder she has a green thumb, finding out when she was little when she brought home a small sprout she’d stepped on one day to “save” it growing to become a small poppy.
Annette loves music. Soft rock from the 80′s and 90′s is her favorite. She frequents the record store to see if there’s any new vinyl to add to her collection.
She almost got kicked out of school once for fighting after a she saw a boy in school coming into a girl after a dance. Of course she was blamed for it but family name got her a pass. Annette promised Lilah it wouldn’t happen again, not wanting to mess up her future.
Birds freak her out. Everything about them terrify her and always have. She’s been known to be a little overdramatic when she sees one with how scared she acts. Her siblings have made fun of her for this since they were kids.
During the divorce Annette decided to change her name back to her mother’s maiden name, never having felt like she was a Tramp anyway.
Lilah gave her a necklace when she was younger with a strange symbol on it. She doesn’t know much about it and every time she tried to talk about it her mother shut her down. Annette hasn’t stopped trying to figure out what it means but she always wears it, her mother calling it her lucky charm.
