‘ how, uh, are you feeling, do you need anything? ‘
‘ no, i’m— i’m good, cat. i’m —— maybe. uh — maybe some water, would be good. ’
maverick dunn:
@ancvra
“you going to be good, jasp?”
‘ ——— what ? uh — yeah, no, i’m fine. i’ll be fine. what about you ? are you holding up okay ? ’
aight so i’m following the trend and dropping all ( except one but shoosh ) threads that aren’t relevant to the plot drop on jasper and max. so like .. uk the drill ig. like this post if u want a starter from either of them, or reply/message me if u want a specific chara or pairing. jasper’s sick, max isn’t.
marty gilford:
“ Ah, he’s like me then ! Love the dude already, hey, I should MEET him one day. Good, they should, like I said, if you’re up there God, you’re my main homie, if not, then FUCK your nonexistent ass ! What’s wrong with either of those, makin’ people happy’s just as important as makin’ em ‘sad - means you’re IMPORTANT. ”
‘ no, he’s not, he’s ————— NOT. i don’t — i don’t think god would respond well to flip-flopping in terms of FAITH, it’s more of a, uh — continuous act type of thing. but if it makes you feel safe, i guess. anyone can make someone feel sad — or at least mildly irritated. it takes a lot more to — to actually cheer someone up. more than that — it’s about being a GOOD PERSON, whether you want to make a positive impact on the world or not. if you want to make people sad just so you can feel better about yourself, that’s your business. but that’s another thing god probably wouldn’t appreciate. ’
beatrice cheung:
‘ Of course you wouldn’t, –– I’m fucking awesome… Just do whatever you want with Ali, okay ? My advice is only good for MIND-BLOWING sex & surprisingly crispy waffles, anyways. Plus, you’re my GO-TO for this stuff ! The other way around is just UNNATURAL. – – – WHY ; find someone with WORSE problems than us ? Because for once, I think we’ll ACTUALLY succeed. I’m in. ’
‘ yeah, i guess ——— i just— just wish there was someway of knowing, y’know ? how things are going to turn out. i’m just tired of getting BLINDSIDED, i guess. sorry —— i’ll, uh — i’ll shut up. ——— i mean, why else would we ? you think so ? that has to be some kind of milestone. ’
jenna altieri:
She began to wonder if he was scared of her, picking up on the way his voice seemed to shake as if she were about to erupt, picking up on the way he was suddenly desperate to keep her around. The entire situation was complicated, painfully so for both of them, yet it was difficult to feel sympathy for someone that continuously lied to you. She thought back to her Mother, who had died alone and crazed in a room covered in crosses, and for a moment fear flashed through her body like a hot flush… “ It’s okay… ” She didn’t have an unforgiving bone in her entire body, even those months she’d spent without him were admittedly difficult, the girl likely wouldn’t have even survived had it not been for Sofia. She was weaker than she liked to think, lying to people and pretending she didn’t need them when, in reality, she was scared. Scared of both letting others in and keeping them out. “ I don’t need protecting anymore, Jasper. Not from Joel… Not… From anyone. I know God has never been your source of strength but he is mine. ”
She glanced upwards, noticing their slight change of surroundings, “ I think we’re almost there. ”
he nodded in response to his sister, not sure how to remedy the conversation after it had so quickly deteriorated. he kept quiet as they climbed the steps up to joel’s apartment, only breaking the silence when he stopped short a few feet away from their brother’s front door. ‘ do you — uh, do you want to talk later ? ’ he asked, hoping for some way to fix things, hoping that after having a few hours to actually think — he could properly talk to his sister for once. something instead of awkward stammers & empty babbling about their day. maybe they could solve something.
alistair rinaldi:
“but by the time i turn twenty-five you’ll be even older. i don’t know jasp, i think we’ll be pretty cute oldies telling their grandchildren about the ways we use to live.”
‘ alright, how about we STOP talking about my age. you’re making it sound like i’m MARTY’S AGE. grandchildren, really ? what are we gonna do; kidnap a bunch of children ? expand the altieri-rinaldi clan one abandoned toddler at a time ? ’
emma phillips:
‘ What is it with you and GLASS BOTTLES, Altieri? You have some AGGRESSION issues I should know about? Here I am, offering something as badass and cool as an undead blood ritual, and you still wanna kick around old beer cans. It’s a little sad, my friend. ’
‘ hey, maybe it’s NOSTALGIC for me. but if you’re so set on the blood ritual, go ahead. i’m not sure i’m going to volunteer for that, though. doesn’t really suit the jasper altieri brand. ’
marty gilford:
“ Because you don’t know if you love him, or ‘cos you’re too pussy to say it ? Fuck the church ! Literally. Once got blown in a confessional. Besides the point, but look, that’s what’s great about the apocalypse - no more ‘of em conservation religious NUTS. All dead. Suit yourself boy-o, but from personal experience ? Rude can be fun sometimes. ”
‘ because i ——— because it’s too soon, and he doesn’t really seem like the type to love commitment. i really don’t want to know. there’s still some of them around, they just don’t have as much POWER — or they’ve given up. well, personally i don’t like making people feel uncomfortable or bad. ’
emma phillips:
A smile broke across the brunette’s face, and she shook her head at him. ‘ Who knew JASPER ALTIERI knew how to not take something seriously? — — I mean, if you’re really set on syringes, we could totally do like, a ZOMBIE blood oath. You, me, a couple of the undead — loads of fun! ’
jasper grinned, happy he was actually able to get a smile from the younger. ‘ maybe i’m not as high strung as you think i am, huh ? i don’t really know what a zombie blood oath consists of, but i think that might actually be a step up on the BAD IDEA scale from shooting at stuff. what if we try to find some glass bottles or something ? breaking things is great for stress relief — and the added danger of getting a shard in your eye is always a plus. ’
beatrice cheung:
‘ So, you ask the girl who’s gotten ditched by more people she can count ? Then again, the people I’ve told I love –– they’re GONE. By their own damn free will, too. S’not like I had the luxury of losing them to UNFORTUNATE CIRCUMSTANCES. Nah, they chose to pack their bags & be on their merry fuckin’ way. You want my advice ? Don’t tell him. – – – UNFORTUNATELY. ’
‘ RIGHT. —— i figured. i guess it makes sense that we’re friends then, right ? birds of a feather, and all that. if it, uh — if it makes you feel any better, i’d never ditch you —— not that i’m that GREAT or anything, but like you said, you’re my best friend, so you’re going to have to deal with me annoying you & asking for your “ unwilling ” advice for as long as i can ———— we should go people watching, or something. ’
jenna altieri:
“ That’s not FAIR. ” She retorted, disliking how Jasper’s words seemed to perfectly echo her older brother’s, his tendency to shift the blame onto her being the catalyst behind her own self-loathing. It was correct to say Jenna had done her best to ignore the events of years past, how she’d thrown herself into charity work and volunteering activities for the school, how she’d sung in the church choir at the memorial when she should’ve been visiting him, how she’d cried behind closed doors for nights at a time, unwilling to burden her Mother any further… But was it correct to say she didn’t like hearing about him? That even with the heavy grudge she held against him she didn’t care for his wellbeing? “ I don’t like talking about him, saying you’re visiting his apartment isn’t going to––––– ––– I’m not a child, Jasper. ” She was tired, tired of him walking on eggshells around her as if her leaving him wasn’t for good reason. She so desperately wanted to say something, but instead, pale hand went instinctively to her neck, slim fingers wrapping around the cross lying there as an act of comfort. “ I can leave. You seem to have already decided this–––– –– Him, it, whatever this is, is too much for me anyway. ”
jasper resisted the urge to flinch at her words, despite how they seemed to cut him open. he never said the right thing — his words never reflecting how he felt on the inside, his body and mouth working against him like he was two separate beings wrapped in one. ‘ that’s not — that’s not what– what i meant. ’ his voice shook as he spoke, already feeling defeated. at times it seemed pointless to even try, to actually mend anything —— because in the end he always screwed it up. he felt HOPELESS, like he’d never say or do the right thing — never find the magic words to make everything better. the truth was that he constantly felt as if he was betraying one sibling or the other — like just by talking to one of them he had hurt the other. and that feeling, that overwhelming sense of GUILT that made him feel like he was being r i p p e d in two — he wanted to do anything to avoid that. so he lied — to both of them. he was more protective of jenna, sure, he always had been — it had been his JOB. to protect his mother and sister, and he’d failed, because that’s what he did. he could pick up any beautiful, perfect thing and manage to turn it into something twisted, something ugly, and gruesome, and mangled —— into a reflection of himself. ‘ you don’t have to go, i just — please, jenna —— i’m sorry. ’ it wasn’t the first time he’d resorted to begging, and it probably wouldn’t be the last. he was pathetic — he knew that, knew that he didn’t deserve the love he craved from his sister, from joel, from anyone. but he was like a leech; pitiful, and small, and draining. he so badly wanted to feel loved that he’d trip over his own feet trying to get it. he took in a deep breath, trying to calm himself, trying to stop himself from spiralling. ‘ i just — i didn’t want to upset you, i’m sorry. ’
beatrice cheung:
‘ SURE IT IS. I bet you’re about as straight as a box of uncooked pasta, too. The people, MY ASS. –– – You’re asking me for relationship advice ? Jasper, hunny–– every person has their own version of ROCK BOTTOM. Mine was when I got dumped by my post-apocalyptic fiancé, fucked my ex-best friend’s ex-boyfriend’s alcoholic father, & then proceeded by getting stabbed by an eleven year old SCISSOR WIELDING MANIAC. He got me, pony boy. And he got me good. Who I’m referring to ? Not important. BUT YOURS ? Your version of rock bottom is going to Beatrice Sydney – yes, SYDNEY. The more you know ! – Cheung for RELATIONSHIPS 101 ! You need help, buddy. And I’m telling you this as your BEST FRIEND slash involuntary love doctor. ’
‘ well, i CARE about your opinion, tris ! —— who else am i supposed to go to ? my missing brother ? it’s not like i was even OUT to him anyway, as far as he was concerned alistair was just a random guy i moved in with after we had an argument ! i don’t have anyone else i can ask about this stuff —— and even if i did, i wouldn’t care about their opinions as much as i do about yours. my relationship history is just —— one girl who left me, without even telling me, after i told her i loved her. i don’t wanna mess this up, tris. i REALLY like him and — and i’m tired of screwing things up so badly that people leave me —————— beatrice sydney ? ’
beatrice cheung:
@ancvra!
‘ This is about Alistair. It’s always been about Alistair, & it’s always GONNA be about Alistair. ’
‘ this is NOT about alistair —— i’m not as obsessed as you think i am, y’know. i’m just speaking GENERALLY — about people, nothing specific —— do you think four months is too soon ? ’
emma phillips:
‘ Look —- —- I, uh, appreciate the concern & all. But … I’ve talked about it a little too much, I think. I just need to get my mind off everything — — but I promise, it’s really nothing to break a sweat over. Just some … family drama. And relationship drama. SAME OLD, SAME OLD. ’
‘ that’s fine, but, uh — it doesn’t really matter how small it is, if it feels big to you then it’s — y’know, VALID. but if you want we can do something to distract you from it ? i don’t know if there’s anything, uh — specific that you like doing —— me and tr— me and a friend used to shoot things. but, thinking back on that now, it doesn’t really seem like a great idea. and i’m not a guard anymore, so i don’t have my gun, but ——— i’m sure there’s something else. we could try aiming syringes at empty bottles. ’
jenna altieri:
Disappointment. That was the first emotion that coursed through Jenna’s body, eyes desperately searching his face for a semblance of… What? Regret? Anguish? Repentance for lying to her? Unlikely, no matter how much the woman wished to deny it their bond from childhood had been ruined, not only by themselves but also Joel… Her brow twitched, features contorting into irritation as he spoke, “ yes it MATTERS. ” Her tone is unwavering, voice almost defiant, “ it matters because… Why do you keep lying about him? ”
he avoided his sister’s eyes, opting instead to focus on the path ahead of them. her question sounded simple, it should have been simple, but if it was than it should’ve had a simple answer, and it didn’t. or rather, it did, but it wasn’t one he was willing to ADMIT. the unfortunate fact was that joel had torn a hole in their family, or at the very least exposed one that had been created long before. and though jasper tried his best to unlearn the negative lessons their mother had taught him — he followed in her footsteps when it came to ignoring the issues their family had. if he could paint over them with something — some kind of half thought out delusion that it didn’t matter because they were FAMILY, and that meant they had to stick together. it meant they had to love each other, no matter what. it meant they NEEDED each other. the answer was simple — it just wasn’t easy. the answer was that maybe if he pretended that everything was fine, that maybe if he didn’t acknowledge the rift between the three of them, then maybe it would go away. ‘ because you don’t like hearing about him. ’ he didn’t dare return his gaze jenna, too afraid of what her expression might hold.
marty gilford:
“ You sayin’ he not the marrying type ? Or you ain’t ? Some advice for you, never get married. It’s the fuckin’ worst. S’not like you even get benefits or anything now. Screw polite ! Polite ain’t real, what’s worse is polite ? S’fuckin’ BORING. ”
‘ no, it’s just — it’s just NEW. we’ve only been dating a few months, i haven’t even told him i LOVE him yet ————— it’s hardly the time to think about marriage. and from what i remember, the church didn’t exactly look fondly upon same sex relationships, so even— even if it was a possibility, it wouldn’t be for us. i like being polite, it’s better than being rude. ’
