let me tell u a thing about marquis de lafayette

was orphaned when he was 12 and enlisted in the army at 13 but it was ok because his family was rich and he inherited

came to america in an illegal ship that he bought when he was nineteen bc he believed in the revolution so much

when he was on the ship the captain wanted to sell cargo in the west indies but lafayette didn’t want to get arrested so to keep them from stopping he bought all of the cargo himself

spoke almost no english when he came to america but became fluent within a year

offered to fight FOR FREE because he just wanted to help out and anyway he was rich af he didn’t need any money

was for real against slavery and joined a french abolitionist society

was in an engaged marriage to adrienne but he was madly in love with her anyway

named his son georges washington de lafayette how sweet

is literally buried under american soil even though his grave is in france bc on his deathbed he had soil imported from bunker hill just so that he could be buried under it

he believed in america so much and we went and messed up we need to fix it to make this poor bb happy

honestly he’s probably turning in his grave at what’s going on
