this is literally the best post I’ve ever seen
hell fucking yes
Ever wonder what the GENDER booklet is? It’s actually different from the book, a kind of pre-book mini handout version made of 6 of the most-requested pages. You can see a pdf of it at www.thegenderbook.com/the-booklet, but remember this hasn’t been updated in a little while, so it might not reflect the most recent information out there. Still, we hope it’s useful as an educational tool. One day, we do hope to revisit and edit it, but for now all of our energies are going into editing the full-length book, what we call the GENDER book.Â
Here’s a table to help clear up the confusion:
the GENDER booklet             the GENDER book
6 pages long                    70 pages long
the most essential information      everything we could fit
fits in your pocket                fits on your bookshelf
mostly purple                   full color
both pages show up on Tumblr sometimes, so it might be good to know which is which. Hope this helps! mel
I've noticed that most of my sweatshirts are pullovers.
I used to only wear zip-ups, but after realizing how pullovers hide any my more feminine shape, they have become wonderful.
Anybody have opinions on this?Â

Actually hate myself that I didn’t know who this woman was until last month.
I've been on a spoken-word kick lately and have to share this one with you all.
For those who don’t fit inside the boxes labeled ’male’ or ‘female’.Â
I'd like to be able to keep this blog going, but I'm quite busy right now and don't have much time to find things to post. Â If you find anything that you think belongs here, please submit it!

You arn’t alone, im worried as well. Maybe some tea will help calm your physical unease but honestly watching this election is terrifying.
I like how tea is your solution. Â I've already had several cups of it. Â I'm now just distracting myself with tumblr, origami, and fidget toys.
Bit of a personal post:
I am so worried about the election results that I am beginning to feel physically ill. Â (Illness from stress combined with a bit of gluten ingestion just makes them both that much worse.)
I heartily endorse this comic.

I do too. I like to think I’m that sort of dad.
This happened to me a few months ago:
While in Walmart little kid in was not fixated by my bright blue hair but instead, noticing that I have breasts, was confused that it was short, prompting his mother to go into a full explanation about how girls can have short hair and boys can have long hair, and that it's perfectly okay.
While I normally don't like being a topic of discussion, in this case, I was thrilled. Â I only wish I heard the end of the conversation.
I am not androgynous. I, however, am genderqueer.
Genderqueer to me means I have two legitimate selves (I don't mean personalities) that demand expression, and sometimes don't get along so well. It means that sometimes I have an overwhelming yearning to do a 180 in how I am presenting. It means I deliberately think about how I dress, and act. It means I've had to accept that there is an Amy, and an Adam in me.
It also means I don't talk about this very much. Because not many people understand.
I'M BACK!
I really have no excuse for vanishing, but I'm back now. Â And will hopefully keep up with this a bit more. Â Feel free to contribute in any way you would like! Â I'm finally going to start compiling some things (the whole three of them) that have been sitting in my ask for a while into actual pages. Â I'll probably take some things off of my personal blog if I can find any worth reblogging.
Bodies are hairy. No matter the gender, your face will have hair and that is more than okay.
Your butthole is going to have some hair too. And maybe your nipples. And your tummy. And where ever else.
Stretch marks. Those are a thing. Everyone gets ‘em. If you don’t, you probably don’t have skin.
Vaginas smell. Every vagina has a scent. Don’t worry about it! (Unless something seems wrong, then go get it checked out! No need to feel embarrassed or ashamed.)
Vaginas come in all different shapes, sizes, colors, flavors. All are beautiful.
Penises come in all different shapes, sizes, colors, flavors. All are beautiful.
You don’t need to shave anything if you don’t want to. It’s tooootally not mandatory.Â
Sometimes people get butt acne.Â
You can have a vagina and want short hair and think dresses are just the worst.
You can have a penis and want long hair and think dresses are just the best.Â
You can wear whatever you want and style your hair however you want.
You can even think whatever the hell you want.
People might tell you that you are a girl because you have a vagina. People might tell you that you are a boy because you have a penis. People will tell you what your gender is. But in reality, you don’t have to be that gender. You don’t have to be either of those genders.Â
You are what you are and it’s just the worst thing if you try and hide that.
Things I should have learned…
