“What? Oh! No, no, believe me, I understand. I don’t want to jump into this either. I want to be there for you, prove I can be your friend first. And when you’re ready, we can make it more. You can take as much time as you need, Andy.” Jules grabbed his hands and made sure to make eye contact. “Okay? I’m here for you, but we don’t have to make it anymore than that until–if you still want to–you’re ready.”

“Thank you, Jules” he said and sighed. “But if it takes forever, don’t just sit and wait” he added and shrugged. “But I do really like you. But it just hurts at the moment”

Chester eyed him in distaste as the other boy clearly went from lifeless corpse to what was such a fake smile. “Wow lying to my face like I’m stupid. How annoying.” He rolled his eyes. “Right, I’m the one with problems? I’m not the one who incompetently added the wrong ingredients and frankly forgot how classes work. If you still want to try walking out of class with the assignment incomplete and right past Grayson, then go ahead. I heard his detentions are lovely this time of year.”

Not letting his words get to him, he simply tried to ignore him. Andy have never raised his voice or gotten really angry before. And he would be damned to start now. He’s always been one of the most calm and collected people around here, and he wanted to keep it that way. Not answering the annoyed boy that was spewing negativity at him, Andy tried to think about something else.

Chester cancelled the charm and immediately held the thing away from his face when it tried to bite him. He sighed and waited for the other boy to finish. The goop on the table smoked as the eye fluid poured over it, but at least it stopped reacting and went inert. Chester then dropped the Chinese chomping cabbage on it where it just started devouring the remains. 

“Waste not, want not. Maybe with- what the fuck is your problem?” Chester had glanced over at his current bench partner.

Sighing, he rolled his eyes and looked at him. “I have no problems” he said and faked a smile. “But it’s clear that you do, so if you could just let me go you won’t see me again” Andy added and nodded to his own words.

“…So…” he repeated awkwardly, smiling back at him. He wasn’t quite sure what to say.

“I need to tell you something” he said and looked down at his hands. “I’m not ready to jump into a new relationship. I’m still heartbroken and very much in love with my ex”

Chester was renewing the spell stopping the spill from eating the table again just as Andy was coming back. He took the Chinese Chomping cabbage, but left Andy with the eel eyes. “Squeeze the eyes above the spill and let the eye fluid drip down on it.” He sighed irritated since he had to tell the other teen instructions. Chester pulled on a glove before he began cancelling the charms on the cabbage for storage.

Following once again the orders the other boy gave him, he stood there like a lifeless corpse. He just didn’t give a damn what people would think, he was way to busy being an emotional wreck. Looking down at the table, Andy tried to avoid staring at the other boy. It was clear that he was a bad person.

“Well?” Chester eyed Andy, taking in his body stance. “Hufflepuffs,” he muttered under his breath. How irritably this one seemed particularly downtrodden, and emotional. Seeing that Andy wasn’t making himself useful Chester could feel his limited patience begin to run out. “Go grab some eel eyes and a Chinese Chomping cabbage from the supply closet!” he snapped as he cleared the table and moved to contain the mess from spreading.

Not saying a word he did what he told him to do. When he collected the things, Andy made his way back and handed him them. Why did he have to run into the nasty people all the time? Was he a magnet to negativity or something like that? Maybe he will never know.

Jules smiled, looking away. He removed his hands from Andy’s hair and turned away. “So…”

“So?” he asked and looked at him, taking his hands into his own and smiling warmly.

Jules’ hands slid up to Andy’s hair before he pulled away and chuckled breathlessly. “Was that passionate enough for you?” he muttered, cheeks flushed.

Nodding, he looked at him. “Yeah” he replied and chuckled. Not really knowing what to say, he just sat there.

Wide eyed and nervous, Jules looked up at Andy. He licked his lips, moved closer, and paused. He was gentler this time, pressing his lips to Andy’s. His hands snuck up to Andy’s cheeks. Holy fuck, I can’t believe this is happening.

Closing his eyes as he felt his lips against his, he kissed him back. Not moving due to not wanting to scare him or anything like that, he was still as the sparks started to fly.

Jules snapped his mouth shut with a sharp intake of breath. He tried to avert his eyes, but found himself drawn right back to the beautiful blue. He found himself crashing his lips into Andy’s, quick, inexperienced, and sloppy. When he pulled back, he turned away, internally screaming at himself with a hand on his mouth.

A quick kiss? Hell no. Not this time. When it ended, Andy took control. “Again” he said. “Kiss me again, with more passion. I won’t laugh at you. I can teach you” he said and tilted his head and looked at the boy before him.

Jules turned several shades darker, gulping nervously. “Um, usually, no. I have a horrible habit of rambling when I’m…nervous…or always, really…”

Smiling warmly, he looked at his lips and then back up into his eyes. “Just.. shut up” he said, and chuckled softly as he raised his hand and ran his fingers at the curves of Jules lips.

“Yeah, yeah it was. Um, we talked about that, didn’t we?” Jules rubbed the back of his neck, desperately trying to control the blush that covered him. “Flirting is a lot easier before having it actually work.”

“We may have. But I may have forgot about half of the things we talked about” he admitted and grinned. Leaning in again, he stopped mere inches away from his lips. “Do you ever shut up?” Andy whispered.

For a second, Jules’ eyes went wide, but by the time they’d fluttered shut, Andy’d already pulled away. Jules found himself leaning forward, catching himself and leaning back, red flushing his cheeks, neck and ears. “No! No, it’s–it’s okay, um…just…first time, remember?”

“Was that your first kiss?” he asked and raised his eyebrows. “Mister flirty have never been kissed, ey?” Andy added and chuckled a little.

Wrapping an arm around his friend’s shoulder, Walter pulled him closer so that Andy’s head was resting on his chest. “What do you mean you lost him?” He asked hesitantly. “What happened?”

“He left me.” he repeated over and over again, feeling the pain in the check only increase. Coughing heavily he continued to shake.
