Itβs Friday night. Youβre so damn tired after the whole week, you donβt even realize how much until you crash on the couch with a movie.
Javiβs in the kitchen, putting together some snacks. Heβs excited to play you his favorite Clint Eastwood film. A minute later he drops down next to you, leans against the armrest and pats his thigh. βBaby, come here, lie on me.β
You drag yourself over and rest your head on him, instantly soaking up his warmth. He presses play, and right as the credits start rolling, his hand finds your back. Slow little scratches, exactly the way you love it. Youβre curled up in his lap, wrapped in his scent, under a blanket, surrounded by that perfect cozy home feeling.
Your eyes keep slipping shut, but you fight it because you donβt wanna miss the movie, not when itβs his favorite. Youβre trying to stay awake just for him.
LATER
Then suddenly youβre being moved. You blink your eyes open, groggy, realizing Javiβs lifting you up, carrying you off the couch. The TV is almost muted, credits rolling.
βShit, I fell asleep.β
βJavi?β you mumble. βIβm sorryβ¦ I guess I passed out and missed the movie. I feel bad.β
He doesnβt answer, just carries you to the bedroom, lays you down gentle, tucks you under the blanket like youβre the most fragile thing.
βAre you mad at me?β you ask, tiny.
βWhy would I be mad?β he says softly.
βBecause you were excited, after this shitty week when we barely saw each otherβ¦ and I just fell asleep.β
βBaby,β he leans down, kissing your forehead. βYouβre exhausted. Iβve seen it all week. The whole reason I suggested movie night was so you could relax. You really think I didnβt know youβd pass out?β He chuckles. βIβm glad you finally let yourself rest. Now stop apologizing for falling asleep during a movie. Oh, the tragedy.β
βMhm.β You pretend to pout, even though he canβt see it in the dark. βSoβ¦ weβll finish it tomorrow?β

Javi leans in, bumps his nose against yours, that little eskimo kiss thing you two do sometimes. A year ago he never wouldβve done stuff like this, but the longer youβre with him, the more of his soft sides you keep finding. βI love you,β he whispers, kissing you. The second his lips touch yours, you know you donβt ever wanna live without it. Youβd let work drain you a thousand times if it means falling asleep in his arms again.
When he pulls back, about to let you drift off, you reach up and cup his cheek, the scratch of his stubble against your palm. βI love you, Javi.β
You feel his smile under your hand, the dimples you adore deepening, and you just know. This is it. Everything you ever dreamed of. Him.
