Prophet of the Lord (Part 19)
Angel: Gabriel Reader: Female Words: 1728 Author: Scruff Warning(s): swearing, some spoilers for s11 and s13 (thanks Sara), capture, mental instability related to capture, torture (nothing too terrible), major character death (does it count as major character death? probably, but it’s not too gruesome, so there’s that) Note(s): Continuation of: “What if Metatron hadn’t “flipped the switch” fast enough after Kevin's death?” Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11 Part 12 Part 13 Part 14 Part 15 Part 16 Part 17 Part 18 Summary: No matter how safe you think you are, trouble has a way of finding you.
Good lord, it’s only been over a year and a half since I last posted on this fic. Let me know what you think! (But please forgive me if it’s terrible.)
An Angel’s Kiss (P X)
A/N: This is a part of, well, not quite a series, but a 10 part drabble, inspired by a ‘Types of Kisses’ post. Each new kiss is from a different angel. They’re not full one shots, so they’ll be short, but hopefully enjoyable nonetheless.
Quick, Goodbye Kiss
“Hannah? Hannah, where are you?” you called out, peeking down the hall in an attempt to find your girlfriend. “Come on, Hannah, I’ve got to go to work!”
“But you’re always at work,” she sighed from behind you.
“Yes, and you’re always off with your boyfriend,” you teased her, giggling at the blush creeping across her face.
“He’s not my boyfriend!” she exclaimed indignantly. “He’s a busy man who needs all the help he can get. It takes a lot of organization to run a rebellion against Heaven.”
“Oh relax,” you laughed. “I’m just pulling your chain. But I do seriously gotta go.”
“Awww.” She sighed before giving you a quick peck on the lips. “Now go be awesome.”
“And you go win your war.” You smiled as she flew away before heading out the door and to your job.

Distracting Kiss
It was so nice when the boys went out to hunt. Even if they were like brothers to you, they were also obnoxious at times, and way too overprotective. The only time you ever got to see your boyfriend was while they were out of the bunker. After all, it’s not like you could tell them you had hit it off with the Devil himself.
“Take that!” you exclaimed, shouldering him as your car pulled ahead.
“Oh just you wait…” he muttered, as sinister grin creeping across his face. You merely raised an eyebrow at him before you leaned forward, focused entirely on beating him.
That was your big mistake.
With all your attention on racing, you didn’t notice Lucifer scooting closer to you. Then, he attacked. It was quick, but effective. Your mind still tried to process the kiss as his car pulled ahead of yours and crossed the finish line. Once you noticed that, you realized his plan. “That’s no far! You cheated!” you exclaimed.
“Now, now my dear, I did nothing of the sorts!” he proclaimed indignantly. “I merely created a more suitable environment for myself.”
“Now I see what the boy’s mean when they saw you’re evil,” you pouted.
Lucifer dropped the controller and stared at you in feigned shock.”Me? Evil?” he scoffed. “That’s so last year. I’m an angel!”
“You’re a cheat, that’s what you are!”

Breathtaking Kiss
A trickster, an archangel, a god - Gabriel was many things, but first and foremost, he was your crush.
Obviously, you knew nothing would come of it. You were simply a human, and he was, well, he was perfection incarnate. Confident, strong, handsome, caring. You couldn’t fathom how some disliked him.
“Oh darling, how you do make me blush,” a familiar voice chortled. You spun around and there, sitting on your counter with an oversized lollipop in his hand, was the angel himself.
“Gabriel, I thought we said that you had to tell me when you’re arriving!” you exclaimed, trying furiously to keep the blush off your face. You knew you were failing, but at least he had the good sense to not mention it.
“I know, but I have a surprise for you and if I told you I was coming, that would ruin the fun,” he pouted, drawing out a sigh from you.
“And what is it this time? Has some poor man contacted the aliens? Or has their eyes been pecked out because their lips were out too far?”
“None of the above.” A grin spread across his face as he slid off the counter and sauntered up to you. Then, the unexpected happened,as it normally does when Gabe’s involved.
He kissed you.
The second his lips met yours, you forgot how to function. It was all you ever thought it would be, and more. You couldn’t tell how much time had passed before he withdrew, but it wasn’t long enough.
Gabriel stared proudly at you as you attempted to catch your breath. Eventually, you managed to bring yourself back to the present. “W-what the hell, Gabriel!?” you stammered, trying to process what just happened.
“I just had to check something before I asked you,” he chuckled. “Would you like to go out with me?”
You couldn’t form a coherent reply, but he knew what you were trying to say - a wholehearted yes.

Unbreakable Kiss
“I don’t know how I can trust you,” you cried, stepping back from the man you thought you knew. “Everything you’ve told me, it’s all a lie?!”
“No, I promise you, I have never lied to you.” He took a step forward, and you took a step back, the wall pressing against your back.
“But who are you!” The tears were streaming down your face now, unchecked.
“I am still me, I haven’t changed,” he pleaded. “My name is just Gadreel. I still love you, and I will do anything to protect you.”
“Why didn’t you tell me when we met?” Your voice was barely more than a whisper, but yet he still heard.
“I was in hiding and...I was ashamed of who I was,” he sighed, looking only at the floor now. “I made a mistake, the greatest mistake ever, and for that I was imprisoned. I wanted to start again, to redeem myself. With you...everything seem right again. I want to be with you and help you. Please, let me stay with you.”
As he was staring at the ground, you found yourself drawn to him, taking step after step until you were right in front of him. “I can’t say I forgive you, but I can try, if you truly mean it,” you murmured, wiping away a tear that had fallen from your angel’s eyes.
“I do mean it.” You pulled him close, planting your lips on his. Though you had done this many times before, it was never like this. You should’ve left him, after he lied and confessed, but yet, you couldn’t. Perhaps this is what they meant by saying ‘love is blind’, but you didn’t care. All there was left was you and him.

Empty Kiss
It was just another day. Just another pot of coffee, just another bird singing, just another newspaper to be read. Your life had fallen into a world of monotone. Colors had faded to various shades of gray. Even your passions, such as art and music, seemed to be just the same as ever.
A flutter of wings echoed through your empty halls, and you turned around to see a redhaired angel standing in your kitchen. “Good morning, Anna,” you shrugged, turning back to your newspaper.
“Good morning,” was her reply, just like every other day. She grabbed her cup of coffee, like she normally did, and sat next to you, like every other day. Silence filled the room, just like it normally did. When her cup was empty, she returned to her feet. She leaned over and gave you a quick kiss.
“Have fun at work dear,” you said. Only a ruffling of feather answered you, as was normal.
“Perhaps we should go our own ways,” you spoke to the empty room, just like every other day.

Can’t let You Go Yet Kiss
The timer on your phone went off, and your mood plummeted. “Hey Balth, you gotta go now,” you sighed.
“I’m sure I could spare just a few more minutes here,” he purred, curling closer to you.
“No, you told me that you had to leave at 11:49 or they would be able to track you here.” you pushed him away from you and onto the floor. As much as you enjoyed cuddling with your angel, you knew he was on the run from Heaven and had to keep moving. You would never forgive yourself if he got caught because you wanted a few more minutes.
“You’re right, as always,” he sighed, his head peaking up above the bed as he sat up. “Perhaps just a kiss?”
“Fine.” You rolled your eyes at his puppy face, leaned over, and gave him a quick kiss on the forehead. “Now get out of here.”
“That doesn’t count,” he pouted, crossing his arms over his chest. “Now give me a real kiss or I’m never leaving this spot.”
I’m in love with a child, you thought to yourself as you gave him another kiss, this one on the lips. “Shoo.”
And he did.
For just a moment, his spot was empty and your house was angel-less. A quiet flutter of wings alerted you to his return just as much as the weight added on your bed.
Rolling over, you found yourself staring into his eyes and you let out and exasperated sigh. “Balthazar, you’re going to get caught!” you exclaimed, doing your best to prevent a smile from breaking across your face.
“I’m sorry, love, but I just realized something.” Unlike you, he let his grin stretch proudly across his face. “You gave me a kiss, so it’s only right that I give you a kiss as well.” Unlike his normal, fervent kisses, this one was slow and gentle. The world faded away and all that was left was you and him, forever locked in this moment.
It seemed like an eternity before you were able to push him off. “Now get out of here, you trouble maker,” you told him breathlessly.
“Fine, but pencil me in for next saturday, same time.” He winked, and then he was gone, leaving you aching for just one more kiss.

In The Moment Kiss
“Why are you always gone!” you shouted, not even daring to look at the man behind you. You could feel the tears welling in your eyes, but whether they were from anger or sadness, you knew not.
“I told you, my love, Heaven needs a leader, and I need to be there,” he tried to reason with you. He placed his hand on your shoulder in an attempt to calm you, but you only shrugged it off.
“And what about what I need?” you asked, your voice dropping to nearly a whisper. “I need you to be here with me, Michael. I can’t raise our son on my own.”
“I know, my love. I am trying my best to be here, but I can’t abandon Heaven.” His hand returned to your shoulder, and this time it stayed there. “I’m trying to keep our son off of Heaven’s radar. If they knew he lived, they’d hunt him down.”
“What are we going to do?” You stared at the crib, knowing that in it slept the most beautiful baby ever born, and a single tear slipped down your face.
“I’m going to protect you and our son,” Michael stated softly, drawing you into a tight hug. “And we are going to have our happy ending. If anyone deserves to be happy, it is you, my love. We can do this. Have faith.”
You nodded quietly into his chest. He held you tightly, before tilting your chin up and kissing you fiercely. When he finally withdrew, he rested his forehead on yours, meeting your gaze with his emerald green eyes. “You look so beautiful when you care,” he whispered.

Hesitant Kiss
“I-it’s been a nice night,” the angel stammered. He had no experience with dating, but you appreciate him trying it out for you. Even though he kept asking you to explain things during the movie, even though he couldn’t figure out how to get the tickets, even though he couldn’t decide whether he liked the popcorn with or without butter, it had been an amazing night.
“Yes, it has been.” Neither of you could think of anything to say, so silence filled the space. It was strange, since you had always gotten along with Castiel. It was the boy’s idea that you two go out together, since they claimed that you were always flirting, and eventually, Cas decided to take them seriously.
But now what?
It would be weird to leave him here, alone on your porch. They never do that in the movies. There’s always some dramatic ‘kiss in the rain after a first date’ scene. It always seemed so natural, but you had no idea how to get an angel to kiss you.
“I could try that, if you like,” he said suddenly. He noticed the blush creeping across your face and paused. “I-I didn’t mean - if you would rather not - I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have-”
“Castiel,” you said firmly, your interruption causing him to snap his jaw shut. “I would like it very much.”
“Oh.” There was another moment of silence before he shuffled forward. As he drew you close, you realized how small you were in comparison, and yet how at ease you felt being surrounded by him. He met your eyes silently, seeking approval before continuing and planting the lightest kiss he could on your lips.

Early Morning Kiss
The sun’s warming rays peeked from behind the curtains, gently caressing your face. You let out a groan as the chorus of birds sang outside your window. Going back to sleep would be impossible with that racket. Your incoherent muttering woke up Samandriel, who let out a groan of his own as he woke up.
“What’s the..the...you know...the thing…” he mumbled.
“Ah, yes the thing. The thing is great.” Even this early - or maybe it was late, but you couldn’t tell - your sarcasm knew no bounds. You received a sleepy glare in return, though it soon changed to a loving smile.
“Good morning, beautiful.” Propping himself up, he leaned over and gave you a quick kiss.
“Now it is,” you sighed contentedly.

Post Break Up
It’s not like you ever hated each other. It didn’t all end because of him cheating, or a big fight. It just stopped being what you both were looking for. Neither of you wished to force themselves on the other, and so you broke up. You still talked to him, but it wasn’t the same. You could still find yourself referring to him as your boyfriend, or daydreaming about a future with him.
“Hello? Anyone home?” Raphael asked, gentle knocking on your head.
Giving yourself a little shake, you came back to reality and smiled at your boyfriend. Wait, no, your friend. Just your friend. Only your friend. Nothing more. “Yeah, I’m here. I’m afraid I have no clue what we were talking about though.”
You could feel the blood rush to your face as he laughed. It always brought you pride that you managed to get someone so serious to laugh so often. He needed more relaxation in his life.
Then, he leaned in and kissed you.
It wasn’t like any other time he kissed you. This was desperate. You couldn’t tell how long you sat there dumbly before he withdrew. “S-s-sorry, I didn’t mean to, you were j-just sitting there s-s-smiling a-and I just thought that well you know,” he began rambling, stumbling over his words. “I just miss you so much but-”
You cut him off, pressing your lips against his. After the initial shock, he closed his eyes and returned the kiss.
The Lightbulb

Warning: mild language
Honestly, it sucked being short. Everyone underestimated you. It took you forever and a day to walk somewhere. Clothes were always five inches too long. Worst of all was when a light bulb burnt out.
You discovered this broken light bulb in the middle of the night. You had had to go to the bathroom and so you went. When you returned to your room, you tried flicking on the lights to see where your ladder was; even if people considered it too childish for an adult, you still had a bunk bed and loved to sleep on the top. The mixture of events that happened next terrified you.
First, the cold. You always cranked up the A.C. at night because it made your bed feel that much cozier. Then there was the light. For a second, it tried to light up the room, but it fizzled out quickly. Lastly, in the mirror that hung above your dresser, there appeared to be a figure with its head hanging down. All this elicited a scream from you as you sprinted out the door to go sleep uneasily on the couch for the remainder of the night.
In hindsight, you could see how silly your reaction was. You purposefully made the house cold every night. Lights can burn out without it being the fault of a supernatural being. The man in the mirror was just the pile of shit on the lower bunk that you had yet to take care of. You had created the perfect circumstances for a “ghost” and so you were determined to fix it as day rolled around.
When the sun shone brightly in the windows, you determinedly headed to your room - with an iron wrench in hand just in case. The previously menacing looking lump suddenly didn’t look quite so scary in the rays of the morning sun. In fact, everything looked normal except for the body on the floor.
You quickly did what any sane hunter would do when confronted with a body: get the hell out of there. Screaming, you stumbled back through the door from whence you came, the iron wrench dropping uselessly on the floor. A chuckle came from the lifeless body, before it wavered and vanished before your eyes. There, sitting cross legged in its place, was the Morningstar himself.
“Luci!” you roared at him, though the effect was not what you had hoped. “How could you do that to me!? You nearly gave me a heartattack!” You glared at him as best you could, although his laughter was simply too infectious and you soon were finding it hard to contain your giggles.
“You should’ve seen your face!” Lucifer snorted as you both calmed down. He clambered to his feet, stretched out his shoulders, and looked down at you. “Now, what light needs fixing, little one?”
“I told you not to call me that,” you huffed as you pointed to the ceiling fan light. Sure, you barely came up to the middle of his chest, but that didn’t mean he could always call you little one. It’s not like you’re a child or anything.
“To me you are,” came a grunt as he set down a chair to reach the light from. “I’m, what, 70 centillion years old? Your 23 years barely makes you an infant in comparison.” He handed down the burnt out bulb as you handed up a brand new one. “There, that should work now.”
You flipped the switch, and sure enough, the light came on without any problem. “Thanks, Luce. I can’t even reach that with a ladder, and you’re my tallest friend. If there was someone else, I would call them so I’m not always bothering you, but…”
“Honestly, kid-” He placed his hands on your shoulders and looked you directly in the eye. For once, he was completely serious. “I hope you never, ever get tall friends. Then, what would be the point of my existence!”
A smile broke out across his face and you smacked his arm. “Lucifer!!” you shouted at his retreating form as you gave chase around your house.
Lucifer
I pace the dusty hallway, demons watching me quietly. Normally, I’d be giving them orders to follow, but today I couldn’t. I couldn’t focus on anything. Well, anything besides my love. I had to leave her, it was the right thing to do, I’ll get over it, I told myself repeatedly, only to hear a little voice ask back, but will she get over it? Have you hurt her so badly that she will remain broken for the rest of her short life?
“Get out!” I roared at the disgusting creatures lurking in the hall. They hastened to obey and I was alone in a couple of seconds. I dropped onto my throne, were I once was so powerful, yet all I felt was...weak.
Reader
I sat on the couch, a tub of ice cream melting on the table next to me. The blankets wrapped around me so tight were like a pathetic imitation of the warmth that had radiated from my love. The only one I had ever fallen for, and who I had thought had fallen for me, had turned out to not be a man at all, but an angel. It only gets worse. He wasn’t just any angel, but the one we were taught to fear, and hate, and reject.
The Devil himself had saved me from those nightmarish creatures, and yet, I couldn’t speak to him. For days, I avoided him until he no longer came to my house, no longer left voicemails of encouragement, no longer placed flowers on my doorstep. It’s been weeks since I heard his voice, longer since I’ve felt his touch, and yet, instead of moving on, I can only miss him.
Unsteadily, my hand reached for the phone...
