This should help! I don’t have a Nintendo membership rn so here’s the pattern. Lightest blue on the right, then pick darker shades going counterclockwise. Looks weird on the model but fine on your character 👌

Hello! I really like your designs and I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on how you shading? Especially with clothing that is white.

[Finished!] I tend to wing it when I shade, so hopefully this makes sense!

Step-by-Step Shading Tutorial

This was requested, but tbh I have no idea what I’m doing when I shade. For pixel art, I shade to separate same-color objects that touch, so I’m going to show you guys what I mean by that.

1. Flat colors! The skirt is off-white, so we’ll use tannish/brownish/i-never-learned-my-colors pale brown to separate the bow, the belt, and the skirt pleats.

2. If you look at the mannequin, you’ll kinda notice that ACNH does this smoothing thing where lines start to blend and smush together, making it difficult to define shapes. Take a color a shade or two darker than your outline and mark where you want to differentiate your shapes. In this case, the bow sits on the very top, then the belt, then the pleats.

3. Take a color a shade or two lighter than your outline and start shading the white parts of the outfit. So here I shaded a line under the belt, under the bow, then I defined the bow and pleats. Using a reference helps!

4. Other ways to shade white!

For a pure white outfit, my go-to color is usually a pale grayish-blue. For monocromatic palettes, I choose a shade color that matches the main color scheme. Or I pick a shade color that complements the main color. Either way, my shade colors will be pretty low on the vividness scale.

The usually only use grey on white is if the main color of the outfit is black or grey. (I’m a sucker for pastels you see)

And that’s how I shade!

I can’t remember if it was you or someone else who was asking if anyone had good turnip prices? If it WAS you, have you considered getting the app ANNH Exchange? People people can advertise when they’ve got high selling prices- I’ve seen some people with selling prices upwards of 600 just about everyday.

Yes that was me! My sis introduced me to that some time ago and I tried it but the lag is unbearable when too many people come and go. Couldn’t even host without the screen announcing visitors every few seconds 😣

I just plan with my friends. If they have high prices, I go to them. If I have high prices, I make them turn back time to sunday and make several turnip trips (sorry sis 😅)
