My sister is a moron and I don't know how to deal with it.
It would be one thing if she was just affecting herself with her bullshit, but she has two children and two cats. I'm fairly sure her cats are safe from the decisions she's made rn, but that could change any moment.
My sister got a new boyfriend, and I think that was the beginning of all her common sense disappearing. He's had conflict with every single one of her friends that I know, and all of her family. He's refused to give her rides at times and hasn't had a job for more than 3 weeks since he moved up here. He mistreated her cats in front of her, and when I pointed out how disgusting he acted towards them, she agreed with me but spoke poorly about me with him in the kitchen for 2 hours when she thought I couldn't hear. I was able to hear into the kitchen from two of the bedrooms I was in(we moved rooms around so her kids could each have their own room), and she didn't believe me when I told her that. I repeated something she said in the kitchen, and she went and told our mother that I was "listening at the door of their bedroom". No one believes her besides herself and her bf, but it's incredibly disheartening to hear someone speak badly about you for 4 months straight while you clean up after them and watch their children.
I got sick of hearing her and her boyfriend talking shit in the kitchen one night when they said something about our mom's cat and how he's never in either of our rooms. At the time, I had a routine with this cat AND HER CATS that I'd wait until around midnight, then give them treats, and while they were eating treats I'd snatch my mom's cat up and get him to snuggle in my room. My sister would get home at 1am and not see him anywhere, but he was "never" in my room? So I walked out to say something, and the only thing I could think of was how stupid it was for either of them to say that when her cats have never been allowed in her room, and when everyone was awake, they hung out in my room most of the time. When I walked back, I looked into my sisters eyes and said "Good luck with your third toddler."
She told mom he'd laughed it off, but a mutual friend who was trying to keep from choosing a side said it really got to him and he whined about it to her constantly. Within a week they moved out together. A week from living together, my sisters cats were hissing at her bf. She doesn't believe he did anything to them, but those cats have NEVER been anything but sweethearts for the 5-6 years she's had them, and her kids father was awful to them. They were nicer to her baby daddy while he was tossing them into the shower than they were to her current bf, but apparently he's never mistreated them. She sent them to live back here a month or so in. They were perfectly happy and perfectly sweet within 20 minutes.
Her kids come over here when it's time for their dad to pick them up, and if my sister is working, her bf doesn't want to deal with him alone, so my mom and I get the kids. The older one has begun to tell my sister that she doesn't miss her mommy when she goes with dad, but she misses grandma. I'm absolutely sure that hurts, but I feel like that might be another red flag for my sisters behavior or who she's with.
My sister had a half day at work and her boyfriend planned to take her out, I guess. She would have come here to see the girls before they went to their dads if he didn't have something planned, but decided to do what he wanted to, which is fine, the kids were with someone who loves them deeply (my mom lol).
Her bf canceled their plans. So my sister didn't get to do what they were going to AND didn't see her kids. She texted my mom that it made her feel like a bad mom. I don't think this incident specifically makes her a bad mom, but the things I've been hearing about that I've left out of this post do make her a bad mom. This incident should just be another indicator to her that her bf does not care about her or her children, but she's not going to listen to it. I'll rant more later.
