Engineering a culture of hatred
This is going to be a one off special post, in which I will oblige myself a word filter, because reality has that people are still sensitive over certain matters.
Yes, angryconcordiastudent is not always swearing high and low to decorate his points. But before you ever start criticizing the way I write, I must make this clear: angryconcordiastudent is nothing more than a series of tumblr logs filled with rants from an angry concordia student. Indeed, I may sometimes write about what may be perceived as social injustice in an academic context, but this blog is not a medium for social activism. Angryconcordiastudent is not a noble keyboard warrior, as I would never want to tarnish their tumblr-activism with my non-sensical dark satirical ways.
Today, it came to me that some people are just overly sensitive, and they would feel victimised at any given opportunity - as if their existence would just cease to be, whence they no longer have the merits to paint black tears of oppression, all over the place.
As with every other corner of internet, tumblr is an interesting case of internet hypocrisy. I have never encountered so many of these noble internet warriors forever fighting for egalitarian values, and endlessly feeling oppressed by everything, and yet nothing at all. As it turns out that they seem to be running en masses around here, the level of hypocrisy has never been higher. How funny that it happened around the time Marissa acquired tumblr, and how funnier that the majority of these keyboard warriors are in fact 15 year olds airheads pretending to a cause, but are in the end just damaging it more.
I must say that more often than not, the causes they fight for are indeed noble; however, I have a problem with warriors wielding a sword of justice on one hand, and drinking hypocrite juice from a carton of lies, with the other.
I have a friend who is following me on tumblr and who will most probably read this entry, and I have to say that I sincerely hope she grows the fuck up, and stop feeding herself with the absurd notion that she must feel oppressed at every instance of her life. To be honest, I think she’s just in a fad, so I still have my hopes high. She just joined tumblr and have immersed herself with all the information regardless where they come from, or how absurd some tend to be. She is basically showering herself with some of the most ridiculous information streams, and yes, she’s part of the huge tumblr activism movement fad where 16 year olds are so sensitive to this, yet stone cold insensitive to that - 16 year olds who’d get Malcolm X for dinner, and McDonald’s for dessert - but they do not care, because, well, tumblr, and umm, everyone on tumblr is like that so I guess it makes it okay. Well friend, no, you are past 20, and you shouldn’t make yourself the sea punk africana personification of tumblr hypocrisy, because, come on, girl, I know you are smarter beyond that.
If anything, I would suggest you keep your newly-acquired tumblr persona to yourself, because it has been getting on my nerves for quite a while. Now, i would never be annoyed if you were to constantly engage your noble causes in an orderly fashion. Rather, I would have supported you. However, the point is that I merely see superficial struggles and a tad bit of hypocrisy.
No, your friend didn’t use that word to discriminate you. She used it in a context of trust and games, because she could have had thought that you two were intimate enough so her use of that word as a form of endearment would be perceived as what she meant it to be perceived as: a form of endearment, and nothing more? But obviously, she had forgotten how you’re on your way to become the poster girl of a liberated tumblr female: oversensitive and ever oppressed.
If you didn’t like her use of that word, you could’ve just let her know of it, and stop there, instead of making yourself a victim, and squeeze bloodied tampons out of your cunt for added drama. Yes, I have used the word cunt here, and I used it as a synonym for vagina, and not as a strategy to segregate anyone. I could have adopted the classic angryconcordiastudent stance, and call you a bitch, but that wouldn’t mean I am referring to you as a female dog, and you should already know, because you are yourself making use of these interpellations, and yet I do not see you unsheath bloodied tampax for having employed derogatory terminologies ;)
Do not even start the privileges argument with me, because we both know you’ve been living with privileges all your life, and if anything, racism would have least affected you out of everyone. It’s not as if you grew up in the most impoverished, yet ethnically most diverse corner of montreal like some of us did. We literally lived racism, but unlike you who’ve been nurtured in a bubble of privileges and forever cultivating the notion of oppression, we grew out of it to understand that in the end, colors aren’t pejorative. The moon is not racist because it’s white and high in the ebony sky.
In the end, you have engineered yourself as a victim of racism when there was none. Yes, there are histories behind words, as there is a huge history behind pretty much everything, and guess what - things evolve. If you’re stuck in the past, then that’s your problem, but do not bring forth allegation of x-insensitivity when there are clearly none, because that would just make you the racist one.
Now.Please.Quit.With.Your.Attitude. this is not skins or a tumblr reblog of skins, so don’t be one of ‘em stuckup bitches. This is just some dose of real life for ya, lol.
tl;dr - self-victimization will not get you anywhere.
