It should have come as some sort of relief when Derek smashed his fist into Jennifers nose, there should have been at least a flicker of hope to how this is all going to end, but the sinking feeling which resides in the bottom of her stomach, makes Cora feel like her life is about to be turned upside down again. She doesnât want to believe Derek canât win Jennifer, but thereâs this feeling which is so dark and terrifying and it wonât leave her.Â
She knows she should be listening to what Jennifer is spouting off about, but the youngest Hale is channelling through her pain and trying in desperation to show her strength and solidarity to her brother.Â
Ba-boom Ba-boom Ba-boom Ba-boom.
Like a bass drum, her heartbeat pounds through her skull, but right now, it is Derekâs that she is trying to focus on.Â
This is her own faultâshe never trusts easily and Jennifer managed to worm her way into her more compassionate side, finding a connection in relation to the loneliness Cora sometimes feltâhelping her on the night of the Opera house fire. Derek never wanted to trust the womanâhe did it for his sister, just like he is doing this nowâŚ.for her.
She has to be strong, she has to show him that she believes in him and against the ever-increasing odds, that they will both come out of this together and alive.
Though this is made decidedly difficult when the force of the shockwave can be felt through Coraâs entire body. Her lungs drag in the air to get enough oxygen in them before letting a loud gasp escape her lips.
âDEREK!â
She yanks down ruthlessly on the chains, causing the flesh on her wrists to rip even more, but it doesnât matter because Cora just needs to get to him.
âD-Derek, get up!âŚyou have to get up!!â
She moves her entire body as much as possible towards him, managing to close the gap slightly and touching him with her leg.
Turning her visual to Jennifer, she growls with as much aggression as she can summon.
âYou stay the fuck away from my brother!â
@theoverlooked
The fool, he shouldnât have stopped to speak with her. Honestly, it was as Mary said, people only seemed to become more foolish with age. His first mistake was being unable to save his family, his second one was trying to save the little he had left. No matter, enough games. It was time to claim what was hers. Jennifer walked forwards, the glass shards cracking under the weight of her heels.Â
âI donât listen to weaklings.â Was all she deadpanned at Cora before grabbing Derek by the hair and yanking him up to his knees. She made sure Cora could see as she slowly wound the wire around his neck and pulled it, tight enough to be felt, but not yet to strangle. Theyâd ruined her plans, she was going to make them suffer. Slow deaths on both ends.
She crouched down to put her mouth next to the alphaâs ear, her eyes still on Cora, and whispered, âAny last words, Darek Hale?â  Â
@animacruciariâ
The world was a darkened haze, his vision fading in and out as was his consciousness. The only thing he registered was Coraâs leg against his side and the fact that he was somehow on his knees before Jennifer. If he could re-do just one thing about what was clearly about to happen, it would be the way that bitch had him positioned. To die on his knees was a disgrace beyond measureâŚ
His body ached, head hanging heavy on his shoulders, the last shockwave doing more than simply tossing him into the air, the wire around his throat tightened as Jennifer bent down to his level, her lips brushing gently against his ear as she spoke.Â
He refused to answer her, refused to give her the satisfaction of showing any further weakness than he had too. Raising his head high, he cast his gaze straight ahead, unyielding in his resolve. His only regret was not getting Cora out of those chains before he met his end.
Perhaps in death, he may find redemption for his sins.
@theoverlookedâ
âWell⌠Suit yourself.â
Jennifer twisted the wire, pulling it taunt, choking against his throat, using her previous strength to keep him kneeling as his struggles of desperation began.
One.
She could feel his heart beat, it aligned with the drums of power that began to manifest as his life force, that rawest of strength, began to leak into the ether, ready for her grasp. She raised her second hand, billy club high and with an unnatural force slammed it against the back of his head, a resounding crack echoing throughout the room followed by a concussion of air, the leaking of his life. Jennifer held firm as the body below her jerked, little more than nerve endings now.
Two.
The fight was gone, what was once Derek Hale began to slump in her grip, the atmosphere charging with more energy then sheâd ever felt before, than sheâd believed possible, this, this was her glory! Her reward! Her conquest! The billy-club hit the floor and she swiftly pulled her blade from her back pocket and positioned it against his throat; with a practiced motion the blade ripped into his neck, slitting the former alphaâs throat and spilling warm blood over her hand.
Three.
She dropped the husk to the floor. That heat, it already began to surge, into her body, moving, moving, more, more, more! The heat, the fire, the power, she was burning! Burning with power! A shining phoenix of magical prowess. She could hear things, voices, laughing, her laughing? She couldnât tell. There was only power. Too much⌠too much? Power, only power, power for her, for Friede for Samantha, for Alexander, for all of them! Her body felt tight, such heat! All at once, where was room? No room. Only darkness, darkness and power, she was a light in the darkâŚ
A light in the darkâŚ
One light snuffed outâŚ
An inferno begun.Â

Dead Like Me Pt. 2
What: Show Down in the MansionÂ
Where:Â Chatzy
With: @theoverlooked
The world seemed to narrow down around her; all that rage, that clawing anger that burned within her finally had somewhere to go. There was no need to resist the pull of those feelings that werenât heres. No. This time she would ride that wave and leave death in her wake.
She was laughing slightly when Derekâs hand smashed into her nose.
Jennifer registered a âcrackâ before she went flying back and smashed halfway through the old walls of the mansion, she let out a growl in kind and gripped the sides of the wall to yank herself upright again. She took a few steps forward, her shattered nose already repairing itself.
âGood thing I took that one healer.â she brushed her hair back, âIs that any way to treat a lady? Your mother would be ashamed. You know, if she hadnât burned to death.â she added lightly, her smirk turning feral as she bolted towards him, aiming to blast him back once more and pick up her knife on the way. She would take him the way all special ones should be taken. Derek would be with his mother soon, then Cora would join them. Together in death as all failures should be.
She twirled the knife in a practiced motion, âI am the prodigy of the Cult of Bracken, Derek Hale. You should be honoured Iâm going to kill you, better me than that Argent Bitch, right? Shame I didnât get you fuck you first.â
Derek: She stood up faster than heâd expected. Blood marring her otherwise perfect skin as the wound began to heal before his eyes. Bloody witches, she had to be one. âYouâre not a ladyâ he growled in response, taking a step towards herâŚonly to be flung back again. The air left his lungs in a harsh rush but he got up faster than before, anger and adrenaline kicking in. âThatâs cute, but Iâm spoken for.â He had never heard of the Cult of Bracken but he didnât care, sheâd be dead once this was through. Jennifer wasnât the only one with the ability to heal.
Jennifer: âAnd youâre not a human, you donât see me throwing stones.â the violence of the fight a contrast to her blasĂŠ tone; she was rather enjoying flinging him about like a rag doll, it had been so long since sheâd toyed with someone this way. âReally? Remind me to kill them too once Iâm done. I donât want you missing anyone in death.â She eyed the broken wooden remnants of the chair Allison had been in and with another casual flick had them flying through the air towards Derek, âKeep up with me dear.â she smirked, moving to collect her wire close to window, all that remained was the billy-club close to her table, on the opposite side of the room.
Derek: His hands lifted instinctively to block the wooden shards, the collided with his forearms as he batted them aside. âA broken chair, is that the best you can do? Really, Jen. Iâm disappointed.â Her gaze diverted from his own and the alpha used the opportunity to close the gap and once again let his fist do the talking. A distant part of him hated hitting a woman but no one fucked with his sister, or him. He wasnât about to let history repeat itself. Pulling back he hit her again, âWhatâs the point in all of this? Whatâs your plan?â There had to be something to gain from killing the girls, unless she really was just a sadistic bitchâŚ
Jennifer: She smiled, though it was more a show of teeth, less emotion, more instinct. âOf course, but whereâs the fun in us not warming up? Get that blood of yours pumping before I spill it; Iâve never taken an alpha before, this will be fun.â In other circumstances this fighting may have been a turn-on, as it was her head snapped back and the pain again seemed blocked out by that burning rage within her, blood dripping down swiftly healing injuries, âUgh. The plan?â she looked at him, he was close, too close. âThe plan is power. Power like this.â she smirked before letting out a yell following her largest shockwave yet, the window behind her shattered at force of it, shards of glass littering the floor. It seemed she had all the time in the world to retrieve her billy-club; she could almost hear drums in the distance, chanting victory, chanting for blood, for death, for power that was hers alone.
Derek: The fight was disorienting. Doing his best to keep her away from Cora seemed to backfire as Jenniferâs sights were now set on the greatest victory of allâŚthe blood of an alpha. It didnât matter, heâd die a million times before heâd let that bitch near his sister. He was done letting women strip him of what was his. The talk was a distraction, he could care less about the planâŚanything to buy them more time. His fist raised to strike, just as she screamed. The shockwave that blasted him back was different to the casual flicks emanating from her hands. Vision faded to black as he collided with the wall right next to a strung up Cora. Getting up wasnât as fast this timeâŚin fact, it didnât happen at allâŚ
and all the kids cried out
âplease stop youâre scaring meâ
i canât help this awful energy

Coraâs words rang in his ears, stopping him short right before her. He was so close now if he just reached out, he could grab hold, get her out of those shacklesâŚoh god, the sight of her chained to that wall was enough to tear his insides to pieces. How could this have happened?Â
Itâs her Derek!âshe did this!
Time slowed. Derek locked eyes with Cora for the briefest moment before realization sunk in. He knew something wasnât quite right with her, no one was that chipper. Kill her, Derek! A slow smirk spread across Jenniferâs features at Coraâs cry.Â
Suddenly, and with a lazy flick of the hand, the alpha was hurling through the air. His back collided hard with the wall as he crumpled to a heap. He was stunned at first but only for a split second, shaking his head and jumping to his feet again. âYou know, this is the last time I listen to Cora about playing nice.â With a tilt of his head, his human half took a back seat allowing the wolf to take over. Eyes flashing a neon red as his face transformedâŚ
Closing the distance between them, he was glad he didnât need parlor tricks to make another person hurtâŚand so was his last thought as a fist collided with Jenniferâs faceâŚ

Jennifer was furious, to think her well-laid plans were being undone but a bunch of ungrateful little traitors who couldnât even have the curtesy to die properly! Her rage had been given free reign and as she stared down at the three girls, no more tricks up their sleeves, the rage began to fade back into the ethos, barely and even she felt unnerved by her own behaviour⌠That was not her. She was not a giggling mad-woman, she was Jennifer Blake and she was about to become a threat to even then strongest creatures in New Orleans. With a self-satisfied smirk replacing her manic grin far too quickly, she moved away from the girls into the hallway, a moment to ensure she was still alone and then she could-
âJennifer? What are you doing here? Have you seen Cora?â
She started a little, Derek!? When did he- how did he- Coraâs howl. The little bitch. Jennifer just barely controlled her expression and formed a look of shock, think- distract and incapacitate the threat. She could face this alpha. âOh Derek!â she cried, hitching her breath and running towards him, âThe girls! Something awfulâs happened! Theyâre in there and- oh God! They need help!â her performance frantic as she pointed towards the room where she held the girls, letting him run ahead. They could distract him and sheâd finish the job.
@mcrtinlydiaâ
Allison, Coraâ they were scrambling to get free, Coraâs hands, god, her handsâAllison was talking to her, touching her face, but she couldnâtâ she couldnât breatheâ
âand out of nowhere, came the little lie she had breathed, to save her friend. She wants you to breathe, Stilesâ
and sucked in a breath, and another, and another, eyes widening in terror as the door open, only itâs not Jennifer, itâs
âelectricity worming down her spineâ
         flashes, Cora screams, dead, and another, the flash of a blade,          dead, another, a garrote, spray of blood, deadâ
                           she sucks in a breathe andâ
       âDerek, GET OUT!â
@animacruciariâ
There was a slight pause like Jennifer was shocked to see him there. Though not the kind of pause an innocent soul would have, one who seemed momentarily stunned that plans had been unraveled. In a flash, it was over and her panic rose to Mach 5. None of that mattered though, not when she ran over to him, a hand latching on his forearm and pulling him into another room. They were there, she said they were there. He found them...
Heâd only just cleared the doorway into the room when he heard Lydiaâs scream. His name, get out...what the hell was happening? Where was....oh Cora. His eyes settled on her, her hands...what the hell had done that to her. âJennifer...help me, help me get her out of here...â
