First night in Japan, wondering around the streets near my hostel. 

Came across a local bar, and ordered with some sign language and minimal English.

Fire. First time I stood so close to a bonfire. Only when I stood real close, I felt the comforting heat. So close to danger, getting myself burned. But, that thickness of warmth gave me strength and peace.
