You wouldn't ever talk bad against a cancer patient so why would you talk bad about another type of disease? It's hateful and no one should have to go through that.
I just found this, I have no clue when it's from but it makes me giggle. Because I would never talk badly on anyone suffering any physical or mental disorder. However, I won't allow people to drag others down with them.

Everyone repeat after me: You can't have anorexia and bulimia. Cannot. You can have anorexia with a purging type. You can have bulimia with a purging type. But guess what; Anorexia and Bulimia are also NOT THE ONLY EATING DISORDERS. And stop, for the love of all that is good in this world, STOP SELF DIAGNOSING. Stop glorifying these horrid diseases. This isn't cute. You mocking those of us with /actual problems/ so stop. Keep up the good work, Alexa. I'm also sorry to hear about your dog. :(

Steps to take after a binge
Take a deep breath.
Tell your body/mind/self, “I forgive you.
Physically remove yourself from the kitchen. Take any/all food in your bedroom and put it back. Go somewhere you feel safe and comfortable.
Grab a tall glass of cold water. Sip on it until it is all gone.
If you still feel the urge to binge/eat more, recognize where the urge is coming from. If you are really hungry, eat something wholesome and easy to construct, like a sandwich or a piece of fruit. If you just crave the feeling of eating and are not hungry, chew some mint gum. It will make you feel fresh.
Do not purge. Do not put your body and mind through the physical and emotional pain of punishing yourself for eating. Remind yourself that everything is ok. You are safe. You are worthy of love. You are good, even if you don’t feel like it.
Take a shower. Wash your face, brush your teeth, cleanse your skin. Care for your physical body.
Moisturize your skin with something that smells delicious. Put on comfy pj’s.
Get another bottle of cold water. Drink it slowly. Do something you enjoy until its time for you to go to sleep (ie Tumblr, watching a movie/Netflix, talking to a friend).
Promise yourself that you will do your best to not restrict/compensate tomorrow, that you will wake up like any other day, that you will not let this ruin your day/week/life.
Get ready for the next day, set up a meal plan (w/out compensation), lay out clothes, make a to-do list.
Remind yourself that you are worthy of love and kindness.
YOU CANT HAVE ANOREXIA AND BULIMIA AT THE SAME TIME. GOOGLE IT. DSM-5. IM DONE EXPLAINING.

in the DSM-5 it says you can’t have two eating disorders at one time
For a start, anorexia and bulimia are both differing presentations of THE EXACT SAME ILLNESS, thus an eating disorder cannot present itself in two different ways at the same time. Also, the anorexia and bulimia diagnostic criteria as specified in the DSM V literally contradict each other. A bulimia diagnoses involves an individual engaging in binging and purging as the primary behaviour, whilst anorexia involves a sufferer engaging in restriction as a primary behaviour, whilst they may engage in binging and purging as a secondary behaviour. It is literally diagnostically impossible, therefore, to be suffering from both anorexia and bulimia simultaneously.
Can you be crying and laughing at the same time? Can you be happy and yet sad at the same time? Can you be cold but hot at the same time? Can you have social anxiety and feel extremely brave at the same time? YES. YES YOU FUCKING CAN. No matter what “statistics” show or “scientists” have proven, are they the ones that have felt the chronic pain of having bulimia & anorexia at the same time? Are you? No. So before you go to judge someone about THEIR mental illness & THEIR struggles, unfortunately they cannot help that & they cannot help the disorders that they have, no matter what the fuck statistic show or no matter what the fuck your opinion is. Fuck off.

This. Fed up of seeing people on here claiming to have both at the same time.
I mean… does it really matter what people ‘claim’…if it’s the only way they know how to articulate to people what they suffer with in a way they understand what’s the issue? Surely the only issue in diagnoses are the eating disorder themselves? I mean… there is also anorexia binge-purge subtype, which is when you are losing/underweight from your eating disorder, but you binge and purge rather than/as well as restrict. Some people may not know the proper term for that and may describe themselves as suffering from anorexia and bulimia…which in a way they are - characteristics from both possibly at different times.
Kind of wish people would be more understanding of each other rather than getting caught up on details like this :/
why wouldn't they know the proper term if they were diagnosed? if not diagnosed they probably shouldn't be blatantly saying "I have ____"

In response to the question about how one can't have anorexia and bulimia at the same time: the DSM-5 has categorized anorexia into two different types: binging and purging type, and restricting type. While binging and purging is primarily a bulimic behavior, anorexia, binging purging type still has restricting with periods of overconsumption and compensatory action to "make up" for the break in a restriction cycle. Bulimia is primarily prolonged binging with compensatory action.

This isn't the same anon who just asked you about anorexia and bulimia. I know it says in the DSM-5 that you can't have two eating disorders at once, and I'm not disagreeing with it, I just don't know why the fact that you can't isn't clicking for me. So I'm really confused and I don't know why (although this may be because I am functioning on two hours of sleep).
No I understand how you feel. It didn't make sense to me at first either. but if you were binging and purging (assuming the diagnosis is for anorexia) you would have anorexia b-P subtype.
